The present status of powder indexing software CONOGRAPH as an integrated system with a graphical user interface is reported. The improvements to the peak search method and the other available functions are introduced. Computational results and times for CONOGRAPH are compared with those for ITO13, N-TREOR and DICVOL14 to clarify their differences.

Nowadays Java has become the most popular programming language that has been designed to develop desktop applications that run on Java virtual machine (JVM) regardless of computer architecture. Particularly, Java is useful for developing Game Applications. Implementing these applications is an effective educational way to encourage Java Learners. This paper aims to develop a desktop racing game to motivate freshmen who self-identity as creative or who wants to implement their own 2D racing games rather than a prescribed activity. It brings fun and simplicity of the game ‘Pirate Race’ with new features. This game was developed with the Runnable Interface by extending the JFrame and the movement of the objects in the frame was controlled by keyboard events. ‘Pirate Race’, is a simple game application that targets Java Learners to understand how usable classes and interfaces can be handled in a relatively short time. The application presents a graphical user interface with 2D graphical images having different file types (GIF, PNG, JPG) and with a background sound. The application allows the user to move the ship by pressing the (up, down, left, right) keys of the keyboard. The user’s goal is to compete with the other two pirate ships and finish the race with the first rank. When racing with opponents, the user must take correct moves to prevent the ship from crashing with ice mountain that resides in the sea. The game contains simple controls that can be easily caught by children. Therefore, it is suitable for players of the ages three and up. This will be a challenging and interesting game for children who likes to play computer games.

Abstract The development of a Windows-based software package for the design and manufacture of cams is presented. There are four main modules in this software consisting of design, display, animation and NC program generation. From the data input the motion curves are constructed using building-block approach where proper blending at joint points are ensured. The interactive graphical user interface provide easy data entry for the user, and the output display give excellent graphics. B-spline curve fitting and techniques for offset free-form curves were employed to generate cutter path and cam profile. In order to evaluate the software, test samples were made, using the NC program generated. The test results were satisfactory.

This chapter will first describe the development workflow of graphical user interface (GUI) design and the implementation that is adopted across a 2G platform. It describes the development workflow of graphical user interface (GUI) design and the implementation that is adopted across a 2G platform. The authors then describe the implementation process of developing Icon-Scenario Based Animated Menu GUI. The same design process developed is implemented in the other models when the authors develop another set of GUIs for different customers using the same workflow. The chapter concludes by describing the concept development process of the phone’s menu enhanced by the use of a captivating Icon-Scenario Based Animated Menu, followed by demonstrating how it takes usability into consideration, bringing delight to users.

For the purpose of designing a method to control the main speech parameters for keyword emphasis in a text-to-speech synthesizer, the relation between speech parameters and emphasis level is determined from experiments. Twelve subjects are instructed to modify keyword emphasis to achieve natural sounding speech from three sentences. An interactive speech editor with a graphical user interface is developed for the experiments. The editor allows the subjects to control speech intensity, speech rate and average fundamental frequency of the keyword, and of the other sentence components. Furthermore, subjects can also control pause (silence) duration preceding and following the keyword. Extracted relations between prosodic feature parameters and emphasis level shows that speech intensity and speech rate are independent of sentence content. Speech intensity increases linearly and speech rate decreases linearly with emphasis level. On the other hand, average fundamental frequency and pause duration depend on sentence content, and relatively large changes are required to strongly emphasize keywords using pause insertion and increased fundamental frequency.

Machine learning has become one of the foremost techniques used for extracting knowledge from large amounts of data. The programming expertise required to implement machine learning algorithms has led to the rise of software products that simplify the process. Many of these systems however, have sacrificed simplicity as they evolved and included more features. In this study, a machine learning software with a simple graphical user interface was developed with a special focus on enhancing usability. The system made use of basic graphical interface elements such as buttons and textboxes. Comparison of the system with other similar open-source tools revealed that the developed system showed an improvement in usability over the other tools.

In this paper, a framework for remote monitoring and controlling of manufacturing system at lower level of automation in manufacturing is proposed. This framework has capability to develop the higher level of automation in manufacturing. In order to proof that the proposed framework can be implemented, a demo system based on the framework is built.Computer-Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) system as a manufacturing system is controlled and monitored remotely within demo system was utilised. In general, the system consists of two Graphical User Interface (GUI) program; one as a client and the other one as server program connected using TCP/IP protocol. The system proposed include the CIM system which connected to the server computer and able to controlled and monitored via the client GUI program. In addition for demonstration purposes, several sub-systems of the CIM system which includes the conveyor, stoppers, sensors and the pick and place robot were used to control and monitor the system development. The programming language used in this system is Visual C++ with Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) application. The overall developed system has successfully demonstrates the ability of remotely control the system.
