Purpose This paper aims to review the healthcare supply chain (HSC) literature along various areas and to find out the gap in it. Design/methodology/approach In total, 143 research papers were reviewed during 1996-2017. A critical review was carried out in various dimensions such as research methodologies/data collection method (empirical, case study and literature review) and inquiry mode of research methodology (qualitative, quantitative and mixed), country-specific, targeted area, research aim and year of publication. Findings Supply chain (SC) operations, performance measurement, inventory management, lean and agile operation, and use of information technology were well studied and analyzed, however, employee and customer training, tracking and visibility of medicines, cold chain management, human resource practices, risk management and waste management are felt to be important areas but not much attention were made in this direction. Research limitations/implications Mainly drug and vaccine SC were considered in current study of HSC while SC along healthcare equipment and machine, hospitality and drug manufacturing related papers were excluded in this study. Practical implications This literature review has recognized and analyzed various issues relevant to HSC and shows the direction for future research to develop an efficient and effective HSC. Originality/value The insight of various aspects of HSC was explored in general for better and deeper understanding of it for designing of an efficient and competent HSC. The outcomes of the study may form a basis to decide direction of future research.

Abstract Various aspects of innovation management have been discussed in literature over the past few decades. Most of the innovation management frameworks have been formulated by undertaking studies in the developed world and lack the industry / culture specific focus. In this paper we revisit the generic innovation management studies to develop an innovation management framework for highlighting the factors affecting innovation specifically at the ICT sector of Pakistan. A detailed literature review has been conducted to identify the factors included in the past innovation management models. To identify the factors specific for Pakistan, senior level professionals, working at the Pakistani ICT organizations were interviewed. A comparative analysis of the innovation management frameworks for Pakistan against those previously found in literature revealed interesting similarities and differences. Based on the study findings, an innovation management framework is developed that highlights the present factors which are important for innovation in the ICT sector for Pakistan. This framework can be used by Pakistan and other underdeveloped countries for improving their innovation in ICT sectors in particular and other sectors in general.

Section 164(3) of the Tax Administration Act No. 28 of 2011 gives a senior SARS official the discretion to suspend the payment of disputed tax or a portion thereof, having regard to relevant factors. Limited guidance is available in this regard. The objectives are to establish the concerns and uncertainties regarding the relevant factors and to determine whether a ‘suspension of the payment of disputed tax’ in terms of section 164(3) constitutes the granting of ‘credit’ in terms of a ‘credit agreement’ in terms of the National Credit Act, Act No. 34 of 2005. This is achieved by adopting an explanatory research approach and performing a literature review and comparative analysis respectively. The conclusion is reached that the current factors listed are not necessarily the most relevant ones. Recommendations are made to simplify the process and to revise and improve the wording regarding the relevant factors.

Endoprosthetics of joints has firmly taken its place in a number of orthopedic interventions in the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Unfortu-nately, with an increase in the number of operations, the number of complications that develop at various stages of treatment does not decrease. Deep infections in the area of the endoprosthesis (paraprosthetic infection) are especially difficult in treatment, since only 20% of patients, and mainly in early forms of complications, manage to save the implant. The incidence of infectious complications at the stationary stage in specialized endoprosthetics centers does not exceed 1% during primary operations, but their number, as a rule, multiplies several years after the intervention. The most common treatment option for paraprosthetic infection is staged revision arthroplasty. The authors of the review conduct a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of one- and two-stage treatment options. The latter is based on the use of bone cement spacers impregnated with antibiotics.

Reporting Verbs (RVs), a crucial aspect of citations in academic writing, are used to report the work of other researchers. A Literature Review Chapter, as a key part-genre of any thesis, or a bigger genre where it is embedded, is the main place that has the highest number of RVs. Accordingly, this study aimed to analyze and compare the use of RVs between 30 bachelor’s thesis (BT) Literature Review Chapters and 30 master’s thesis (MT) Literature Review Chapters of Chinese English majors in terms of denotation and evaluation of RVs based on Hyland’s (2002) classification framework. The findings reveal that the RVs used in the BT Literature Reviews were smaller in amount and narrower in range compared with those in the MT counterparts. Regarding the denotation of RVs, Discourse Act RVs were found to be the most predominant in the BT corpus, while Research Act RVs prevailed in the MT corpus. Cognition Act RVs were the least used in the two corpora. Regarding the evaluation of RVs, factive RVs were the most frequently used in the BT Literature Reviews, while non-factive RVs were the most prominent in the MT counterparts. However, negative RVswere infrequent in both corpora. This study would increase the thesis writers’ knowledge on the significance of RVs, raise their awareness of employing RVs, and help them use RVs appropriately and effectively in writing their thesis and other academic writings. This paper also provides practical implications for teaching RVs in preparing research dissertations.

This article analyzes the results of a sociological survey, which con- firmed the relevance of the issues of accessibility of providing medicines to various categories of citizens. The purpose of this study was to study the attitude of citizens to the existing system, as well as to identify the strengths and weaknesses of preferential security. The main research methods were: the method of studying and generalizing experience; comparative analysis; sociological survey; statistical. According to the presented data, the distribution of answers to questions is determined in % depending on the total number of respondents, including in the dynamics for the analyzed period (2019-2021). This study served as a tool for studying the key problems in obtaining preferential medicines (waiting times for a doctor to issue a prescription, the absence of a prescription in a pharmacy, the refusal of a doctor to issue medicines, etc.). Thus, the results of the conducted sociological survey showed that the LAW system plays a significant role in the structure of healthcare. At the same time, first of all, it is necessary to carry out additional work with various age groups of the popu- lation in the framework of providing information about the possibilities of the additional preferential security system.
