In this paper we introduce the design of sealed ceramic-metal TO-247 and TO-220 packages, which are intended for the same applications as plactic-metal and glass-metal alternatives. Packages could be used for epitaxial Si and SiC multi-die assemblies, for GaN smart power switches, etc., with operating voltage up to 2500 V and pulsed current up to 350 A.

Abstract Generally, IC packages with exposed pads have excellent thermal and electrical performance – assuming high fidelity and integrity of die attach material. However, reliability challenges associated with die attach impacts electrical performance of vertical power FETs for high-side power switches. As such, it is critical to quantify the impact of these challenges on high-side power switches operation, so that their protection and diagnostic feature circuitries can be properly designed for mission critical applications. In this paper we present on a package and PCB co-modeling methodology that was developed to assess impact of die attach integrity on performance of high-side power switch designs. We explain how electrical co-optimization of the system (viz. FET-Package-PCB) interactions, was achieved through a coupled circuit-to-electromagnetic modeling, simulation, and analysis methodology. Silicon laboratory measurements data that validate the modeling methodology will be presented.

Advice to those who are considering corporate governance changes to their family business appears throughout the interview.

The purpose of this study is to find out whether there are differences on pattern of succession between the second and the third generation of family business in Indonesia. Research Design/ Methodology/ Approach: A cross sectional and comparative research design were used in this study, while the data survey was conducted to 41 respondents from the second-generation group and 48 respondents from the third-generation family business; the businesses has run for 5 to 50 years and were categorized as medium size family business. The study used multiple regression test via SPSS to test the hypothesis. Findings: In family business led by the second-generation successor, only personality system affects the family business succession. On the other hand, in family business led by the third-generation, personality, ownership, family, and management system variables affect the success of the family business; meanwhile, family system does not find to affect the family business succession. Research Limitation/ Implication: This study investigates pattern of succession in family business including personality system, ownership system, family system and management system. This study can suggest a solution in the regeneration process of a family business in order to maintain the continuity of the business. limitation: There are some biases found on family’s perspective of the assessment, and the study only focus on medium-size family business. Practical Implications: A right amount of focus on pattern of succession will help the second and the third generation of the family to manifest in business succession. Exploring the second and the third-generation perspectives in regard to succession pattern is the key to maintain the continuity of the family business. Originality/ value: This study offers a pattern of succession from various perspectives, including personal, ownership, family, and management, as well as the relationship to the long-term success of the family business.

The topic of this research is examining family dynamics and dual identity. The aim of the research was to analyze whether identity and social construction of ideologies influence family dynamics. It examined how social and internal factors affect a family, focusing on first-generation and second-generation families. This was a qualitative study examining first-generation and second-generation South Asian individuals. I interviewed the individuals using open-ended questions to examine the experiences of adult first-generation Canadians and second-generation Canadians. The study examined how their relationships are affected and influenced by external sources such as school, work, social circles and western ideologies. In conclusion, although themes were common among participants the experience of families and individuals are based on the unique and individualized family.

The main catalyst for use of state-of-the-art electronics in commercial trucks in the United States is the need to meet EPA emission standards for the 1990s. Important secondary catalysts are fuel economy, anti-lock brake systems and fleet/driver expectations. There are also myriad other forces related to safety, maintainability, servicing and communication which will be satisfied once electronic systems are installed in trucks. The principal economic justification for incurring the cost of electronics at this time is to satisfy these more stringent gaseous emission and particulate regulatory standards. Using electronics, these standards can be met without producing a severe reduction in fuel economy while, as a by-product, interfacing with other truck components, such as brakes, transmissions, safety controls etc. This paper will address the applications of electronics today for diesel engine controls as well as the applications of electronics in areas such as smart power switches, anti-jackknife controls, voice-recognition systems and other future system applications. The exploding use of electronics in trucks will require solutions to many complex problems which are not unique to any one company, geographic area, country or technical society.
