Mobile phone became almost essential part of daily life for all generation of people. It functions with the help of transmission of electromagnetic waves from towers to the cell phones in the micro wave frequency region. The energy carried by the waves is not only useful for mobile communication but also produce adverse affects on the users' health as well as to all living beings which are in the radiation area. The paper aims to discuss some of the possible dark side of health concern by the usage of cell phone and radiation from the towers. It also aims to suggest the possible remedies to minimize the health problems. The Himalayan Physics Vol. 4, No. 4, 2013 Page: 51-59 Uploaded date: 12/23/2013

The antenna is a device used to transmit or receive electromagnetic waves electromagnetic waves. Reception using an antenna will amplify the signal acquisition in accordance with the ability of the antenna itself. Service providers GSM (Global System Mobile), with the inclusion of the network limitations make the need for strengthening the acquisition of the signal is very large. Grid antenna is one option reinforcement signal acquisition. Grid antenna has a major component that is driven in the form of a dipole and a reflector which serves to reflect the signal beam. In this final project is designed, realized and measured at the antenna grid on GSM 900 MHz. This antenna is intended to be a media aids in strengthening the GSM signal reception to maximize the signal acquisition and connections

Base Station is the primary unit of any mobile communication system. An antenna is the most important part of the Base Station as it is responsible for exchange of all the electrical signals and electromagnetic waves radiations. From the last two decades there is huge advancement in the mobile communications and so as in the antennas for the base stations. This advancement gives rise to new designs of antennas with different specifications for different applications. In this paper, we discussed different geometries, designed earlier for the base station applications. The structures and respective results of antennas are discussed in the paper.

We analyze the relationships seniors have with mobile communications in two different European contexts, Romania and Catalonia. By means of a qualitative approach, we describe the ways older individuals incorporate mobile phones in everyday life communication practices, and the motivations supporting these decisions. To understand motivations for using a given communication device –as the mobile phone– we took into account the channels individual has access to; individual’s personal interest on using available devices in everyday communications; the location of the members of the individual’s personal network; and the pricing system that determines the cost of mediated communication.

The empirical analysis is based on two case studies conducted in Romania and in the metropolitan area of Barcelona (Catalonia) in different moments, between 2010 and 2012. Participants were 60 years old or over. Information was gathered by means of semi-structured interviews that were recorded and transcribed, while a common methodological design allows an enriched insight. Besides gender, we take into account heterogeneity of ageing for a more nuanced analysis.

This paper constitutes the first step in the exploration of common trends in the relationship seniors have with mobile communication in different European countries.
