Wireless communication seem destined to make a large and continuing impact on our lives. Recent developments in wireless technologies provide a new channel for implementation of embedded systems with remote access for mobile and non-mobile products and services. Several wireless technologies are available with their own advantages and disadvantages. This paper examines several available short-range wireless technologies and evaluates them for embedded systems.

In a vehicular network, vehicles can exchange interesting information (e.g., about accidents, traffic status, etc.) using short-range wireless communications. Besides, the vehicles can be equipped with additional sensors that can directly obtain data from the environment. How to efficiently process and collect these data is an open problem. We argue that mobile agent technology could be helpful.

Machine learning is one of the most popular research areas, and it is commonly used in wireless communications and networks. Security and fast communication are among of the key requirements for next generation wireless networks. Machine learning techniques are getting more important day-by-day since the types, amount, and structure of data is continuously changing. Recent developments in smart phones and other devices like drones, wearable devices, machines with sensors need reliable communication within internet of things (IoT) systems. For this purpose, artificial intelligence can increase the security and reliability and manage the data that is generated by the wireless systems. In this chapter, the authors investigate several machine learning techniques for wireless communications including deep learning, which represents a branch of artificial neural networks.

In order to monitor the heart rate changes of patients with cardiovascular disease, a wireless ECG system based on the GSM network is developed in this paper. The data captured by cardiotachometer will be transmitted to mobile phones via short-range data transmission, to HR data monitoring center via short message of GSM. In which, the expert diagnostic system analyzes those data and put the results back to the user, especially those cases such as instantaneous tachycardia and cardiac arrest. This may be avoid some life-threatening events occurrence.
