Older American adults are increasingly utilizing communication technologies, but research has seldom explored older adults’ daily social media use and its interface with other “offline” social ties. To explore a complementary and/or compensatory function of social media in later life, this study employed data from the Daily Experiences and Well-Being Study (2016–2017) to examine associations between daily social media use, daily social encounters, social network structure, and daily mood. Community-dwelling older adults ( N = 310; Mage = 73.96) reported on their overall social network structure (diversity in types of social ties and size of network), their daily social encounters in-person and by phone, social media use, and emotional well-being for 5 to 6 days. Multilevel models revealed that daily social media use was associated with daily mood in the context of daily social encounters and the size of the social network. Individuals reported less negative mood on days with more social media use and more in-person encounters. More daily social media use was associated with more positive mood for individuals with a relatively small social network but not for their counterparts with larger social networks. Findings suggest that social media is a distinct form of social resource in later life that may complement the emotional benefits of daily social encounters and compensate for the age-related reduction in social network size. Future research should consider how socially isolated older adults might use computer-mediated communication such as social media to foster a sense of social connection.

Family health centers in Turkey started to be implemented for the first time in Düzce in 2004 years within the scope of Law No. 5258. While determining the physical conditions of the places where family health centers are built, the first item in the regulation is that the building should be easily accessible. This situation shows the importance of the subject in terms of accessibility. While determining the features of the places where FHCs will be made, environmental characteristics are also taken into consideration. Environmental features are effective in determining the FHCs location in different ways. These impacts are divided into two groups: the physical features that pavements, roads and parks can include, and the social, cultural and institutional features of neighborhoods that include local social ties and collective activities. From this point of view, the importance of the location of family health centers relative to roads and houses is understood. The aim of this study is to examine the accessibility of Family Health Centers in Konyaaltı, Antalya, on a neighborhood basis using Geographic Information Systems. Konyaaltı has 21 Family Health Centers. As a result of the analyses, it was determined that most of the neighborhoods had problems in terms of accessibility, while a very few of them did not experience problems in terms of accessibility. In terms of the total number of buildings, the ratio of buildings that are 500 meters walking distance from any family health center by using highways is 35.56%. With these rates, 3,634 of the 10,2018 buildings remain within the limits of the regulation. Finally; suggestions were made to increase accessibility to these areas.

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to analyze the first hand data regarding intimacies between government entities and government audit institution of Pakistan, to see its impact on the quality. Design/Methodology/Approach: Qualitative research design is used to explore the concept base on theoretical saturation technique. Findings: The results revealed by default presence of social ties among interactive agents. It further explores indirect relationship between audit quality and social interactions in the presence of petty corruption due to familiarity, unwarranted mutual trust and favoritism however this relationship is shifted toward direct relationship in the presence of material corruption due to fear of losing good reputation, loss of job, fear of departmental inquiry, threat of floating your weaknesses before your rival clique. Implications/Originality/Value: The results presented in this paper should therefore be of great interest to government, regulators and standard-setters charged with developing accounting standards to improve the audit quality of reporting information related to existing government auditing setup.

This study aims to provide guidance to religious court judges with their authority in deciding the heirs who are entitled to a mandatory will. So far, mandatory wills are only given to children and adoptive parents, but in its development, mandatory wills can be given to other parties other than adopted children and adoptive parents, including non-Muslim heirs. The method in this study is a normative juridical method. The results of the study explain that the mandatory will is regulated in the Compilation of Islamic Law where the rules are not clearly regulated by the KHI. To resolve the issue of mandatory wills, judges are authorized by law to resolve cases that enter the judiciary by making legal discoveries of cases that do not yet have permanent legal force, such as by carrying out historical understanding seen in a concrete case in which case the case already has regulations. legally binding, but the regulation must be interpreted in its implementation. Interpretation is tried by studying the origin of the formation of a legal decision, including the origin of its provisions or the origin of the formation of laws. Then it is done by means of a sociological understanding that prioritizes the interests of the purpose of a regulation through a concrete event in the related official regulations. In practice, judges can interpret unclear provisions based on community demands, as well as laws and regulations that are synchronized with social ties and situations that occur. In addition to the two methods used by judges to make legal findings to create laws that are not found in existing regulations, judges can do reasoning or argumentation. The argumentation procedure consists of argumentum per analogium, argumentum a contrario, and legal narrowing.

Although research on collaborative artistic projects and practices tend to emphasize the social ties and even the production of communities that they enact, normally, this very research does not pay attention to the singularity of the forms of sociality produced. This article engages in a double task –namely, a theoretical definition and an analytical application– derived from the fieldwork undertaken in the Mexican cities of Tijuana and Monterrey by means of which we developed the notion of “weak sociality” to name the modes of relationships produced by cultural actors from civil society enrolled in independent spaces or projects. We hold that the sociality these strategies produce is conflictive, ephemeral, spatially bound and affective. Both, our theoretical stance as well as our fieldwork findings will make us conclude that the relationships produced in this microspaces –where conflict is productive, ephemerality means open ended negotiations and affect implies care– work as an unavoidable process for the politicization of artistic collaborative practice in the neoliberal city.

By early 2021, due to the economic downturn accompanying the COVID-19 pandemic, over four million Americans were long-term unemployed (LTU). Getting rehired requires overcoming employer stigmas about LTU workers, which most LTU workers believe is most plausible with the help of referrals from social ties. While research on the structures and effects of networks abound, this paper examines the far less studied process of networking among LTU jobseekers. Exploring the networking process is imperative for understanding the emotional toll and structural obstacles facing LTU workers in the post–COVID-19 pandemic period. Going beyond individualizing explanations, I use in-depth interviews to uncover the structural conditions that make networking challenging for all LTU jobseekers. Contrary to static conceptualizations of ties as social capital, a metaphor implying that ties are static resources, this paper argues that more attention needs to be paid to the processes and structural conditions that facilitate or hinder the activation or formation of socialties. Specifically, it shows that, under conditions of precarity and stigma, networking can undermine workers’ identities as valued and moral, leaving them feeling discouraged and ethically challenged in a way similar to used car salespeople.

The article examines the religious and moral phenomenon of hospitality in the picture of the world among the Russian Old Believers-bespopovtsy Ust-Tsilma, living in the lower reaches of the river. Pechory in the Komi Republic. The source for the writing of the work was the ethnographic field materials collected by the author in the Ust-Tsilemsky region of the Komi Republic and the corpus of Ust-Tsilma phraseological units, proverbs, and sayings identified from dictionaries. As a concept of culture, hospitality is widely represented in paremias, where situations related to hospitality are revealed allegorically, norms, attitudes and prescriptions in the behavior of contacting parties are comprehended, and the value of guest contacts in establishing and maintaining social ties is revealed. On the stated topic, terms and expressions are presented and analyzed that characterize the hosts and guests, depending on various situations (hospitality — inhospitable, meeting — farewell, etc.). The article reveals that hospitality was of great educational value, familiarizing children with the norms of hospitality was based not only on personal observations and examples, but also with the use of stable expressions and texts. The study showed that guest communication brought together not only relatives, but also representatives of the community as a whole. It was revealed that despite the well-known closeness of the Old Believers-bespopovtsy, they showed friendliness and mutual understanding to the representatives of other confessions, provided them with shelter and food. In the picture of the world of Russian Old Believers-bespopovtsy Ust-Tsilma, hospitality was of great importance in the preservation and development of the enduring value of their existence.

Informed by Bronfenbrenner’s ecological model of development, this mixed-methods study’s aims are to: (1) describe rural Latino/a adolescents’ ( N = 62) narratives and lived social experiences in the context of rurality, and (2) examine their personal networks to better understand their social interactions (subset of 30 adolescents). Rural Latino/a adolescents move in limited social circles and experience geographic, cultural, and social isolation due to immigration status problems, socioeconomic issues, racial discrimination, and family dynamics. This limitation is reflected by personal networks that tend to be homogenous in terms of ethnicity, age, and sociodemographic characteristics. School, although characterized by weak social ties often disconnected from community and family contacts, emerged as the dominant context of sociability where adolescents build their social identity outside the circle of dense family ties. Findings suggest a critical need for interventions to reduce isolation and enhance social connectedness between family, school, and rural community in this population.

Digital marketing is a marketing technique that is widely discussed in the latest literature. The complexity of digital marketing creates new variables in an effort to increase purchase intention, such as consumer conformity, social ties and EWOM (Electronic Word of Mouth). This study aims to analyze the relationship between consumer conformity, social ties, and EWOM in digital marketing on the Shopee, Lazada, and Bukalapak platforms. Through quantitative methods using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis using AMOS software on 200 respondents consisting of users of the Shopee, Lazada, and Bukalapak platforms. This study analyzes 5 hypotheses, which is then statistically proven to have a significance value of < 0.05, which means that there is a significant relationship between the variables, thus all hypotheses are supported. The results indicate that social ties and EWOM can have a significant effect on consumer conformity and are also able to directly affect purchase intention. This research also highlights that consumer conformity has a significant effect on purchase intention in digital marketing.

In the article, the author analyzed the issues of improving the used incentive measures that can qualitatively improve the educational process of convicts held in penitentiary institutions. Despite the rather lengthy list of incentives provided by the legislator, the need to revise the norms of criminal executive legislation governing incentive measures for prisoners sentenced to imprisonment in the direction of ensuring the integrity of this system, the sequence of its elements, and their greater differentiation was noted. The author notes that the measures of material incentives, which include the payment of a monetary bonus and rewarding with a gift, are not working in practice, since the legislator has not regulated the question from what means they should be produced. At present, the spending of funds from the federal budget in this direction is not provided. In order to maximize the stimulation of convicts to positive behavior, it is advisable to expand the existing set of incentives aimed at maintaining the social ties of convicts. Based on the study, it is proposed to part 1 of Art. 113 of the Penal Code of the Russian Federation to supplement incentive measures in the form of a letter from the administration of the penitentiary institution to close relatives about the exemplary behavior of the convict; additional remote video viewing via the Internet; the presentation of the administration of the penitentiary institution to the court on the reduction of the term of serving the sentence; short-term vacation up to 15 days with a trip outside the penitentiary.
