Our article deals with such an aspect of computational linguistics as the construction of lexical minima cases using the Sketch Engine program as an example. The advent of computational linguistics has played an important role in the process of learning foreign languages. Thanks to computer technology, the process of learning foreign languages is greatly simplified and becomes more accessible. Among the many programs for learning foreign languages, we chose the Sketch Engine program, since it is a case manager and a tool for analyzing linguistic buildings, that is, collections of texts selected and processed according to certain rules, which are used as the basis for language research. This resource is software that combines a specialized search engine and a lot of buildings in different languages. We describe the program through the prism of corpus linguistics, consider the functions and capabilities of this program Sketch Engine in drawing up the lexical minimum for primary school age in English, Russian and German. In this paper, we conducted an experiment on drawing up a lexical minimum for schoolchildren, which consisted in selecting 300 most used words of the English language and saturating them with examples from the cases of the Sketch Engine program.

The purpose of this research is to study the possibilities of using mind-mapping technology in modern conditions of digital transformation of the educational process to develop students’ motivation to learn foreign languages. The research methods are the method of static description of the material, analysis, comparison and generalization of scientific information, and experiment. As a result, it was proved that the use of this technology in teaching foreign languages facilitates memorization of lexical material, promotes the development of speech skills, and makes the learning process exciting. It was found that in the course of creation of Mind Maps, students with a high level of digital skills are more successful in overcoming the language barrier, striving to expand the semantic components of Mind Maps. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time the students’ preferences on the choice of methods of learning foreign languages were studied. To pioneer the use of the method, the study was carried out on special German texts, which were studied by the students by means of two methods (traditional and mind-mapping technology).

Introduction. High-quality language education in technical universities requires its interdisciplinary relation to the content of highly specialised subjects corresponding to the training programmes aimed at instructing the future specialists. Educational materials in a foreign language are highly productive if they emphasise the terminology and professional vocabulary authentic to the current state of the scientific field. The aim of the study presented in the article was to assess the validity of the lexical material delivered in the course “English for Business Communication”, to determine the selection criteria for this vocabulary as well as the methods for its assimilation and practical application.Methodology and research methods. The applied corpus software enabled to obtain quantitative indicators of the distribution of foreign-language business vocabulary in the given training course. The lexical material being currently offered to students and the professional thesaurus identified via linguistic databases was compared with the use of comparative analysis and synthesis. Results and scientific novelty. The lexical units (terms, set expressions), which are the most active in the business sphere, were identified on the basis of its frequency. The authors established the correlation between them and educational vocabulary, both from the perspective of its integration into the course without block concentration throughout the course of university training, and from the perspective of the variety of methods used to practice this vocabulary. It is concluded that the applied educational material needs to be substantially adjusted. The vocabulary does not completely reflect the realities of the business communication sphere and the distribution of active vocational vocabulary regulated by methodological guidelines does not entirely contribute to its strong assimilation. According to the authors, the necessary changes to the approaches and methods for selecting and compiling lexical material and to the methodology for designing a foreign language course should be made on the basis of integrating pedagogical and linguistic knowledge, in particular, the methodology of teaching foreign languages and the corpus linguistics.Practical significance. The ways of integrating corpus programs in the process of developing the content of language disciplines, which are part of the main educational program of technical universities, are demonstrated as one of the methods to increase the effectiveness of teaching foreign languages to students of non-linguistic specialties.

In grammars and textbooks used to teach German as a foreign language, the chapters devoted to the "Funktionsverbgefüge" (light verb constructions) are based on data that are mainly obtained by introspection. German dictionaries also often seem not to be based on empirical data. Through the example of kommen (to come), the present paper aims at showing a few new and decisive elements that empirical, strictly corpus-driven research, by means of the new digital corpora, makes it possible to highlight. The purpose is to achieve a description that is more precise and more faithful to the target language in foreign languages teaching. Keywords: Light verb construction - light verb - corpus linguistics - empirical research - digital corpora - COSMAS II - prototype semantics - syntax - valence - complementation - lexicology - grammar
