The purpose of this research is to study the possibilities of using mind-mapping technology in modern conditions of digital transformation of the educational process to develop students’ motivation to learn foreign languages. The research methods are the method of static description of the material, analysis, comparison and generalization of scientific information, and experiment. As a result, it was proved that the use of this technology in teaching foreign languages facilitates memorization of lexical material, promotes the development of speech skills, and makes the learning process exciting. It was found that in the course of creation of Mind Maps, students with a high level of digital skills are more successful in overcoming the language barrier, striving to expand the semantic components of Mind Maps. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time the students’ preferences on the choice of methods of learning foreign languages were studied. To pioneer the use of the method, the study was carried out on special German texts, which were studied by the students by means of two methods (traditional and mind-mapping technology).

Its use in the educational process facilitates the perception and memorization of lexical material by students, promotes the development of speech skills, and makes the learning process exciting. It was found that in the course of working on the creation of Mind Maps, students with a high level of digital skills are more successful in overcoming the language barrier, striving to expand the scope and diversify the structure of Mind Maps. The results of a survey of teachers on the effectiveness of using this method in teaching foreign languages as well as the readiness to use digital techniques while working with students are presented. The positive and negative aspects of introducing digital methods into the educational process, the interest of senior teachers to use modern technologies and their active integration into the learning process are revealed. The results can be applied by university professors and school teachers in the process of teaching foreign languages and other courses. The research methods were the method of static description of the material, polling, analysis, comparison and generalization of scientific information.

The core problem of teaching English as a second language at transport university is students’ poor knowledge of vocabulary. Current solutions to the given problem such as providing word explanations and repetitive practices are ineffective. We strongly believe that the mindmapping technique proposed by Tony Buzan as a note-taking method is a novel, yet an extremely potent tool that aids students in enlarging their professional word stock by associating new vocabulary to their existing knowledge using colors, images, symbols, etc. As might have been expected, the findings of our study point towards the idea that the strong visual appeal of mind maps created by easy-to-use software boosted the educational process and helped students of the experimental group memorize more new words in contrast to students of the control group.

The article presents an analysis of the modern work methods inclusion with educational and scientific information into the “Resistance of materials” course educational process. Over the course of five years, the author has tested the information search technic, students work organizing technic with educational and scientific literature in different formats, cooperation technic, self-presentation technic to involve students in active work on the theoretical material study necessary for every engineer. The educational process, organized using a blended learning technic encouraged students to work independently, adhering to the discipline studying plan in the semester. Modern technologies for working with information are based on working with scientific electronic libraries, educational platforms, and online scientific publications. Mind mapping technology allows you to optimize the theoretical material studying time. An independently executed mind map helps the student to understand and remember the procedure for calculating structural elements, to systematize the strength characteristics of various materials. Classwork and self-guided work in mini-groups allow students to form a communication culture. Students learn to prove their opinions on professional topics, show respect for others' opinions, and evaluate various situations that arise in the process of teamwork. Collaboration technic encourages learners to assign tasks and roles. Students who work in the executor role and the lead role, acquire the collective presentation skill while defending laboratory work. In the transition to individual educational trajectories, it is necessary to combine various educational technologies for the successful universal and general professional competencies acquisition by students. Various modern digital resources should be included in the educational process for checking purposes of the strength, structural elements, and mechanisms stiffness, and stability problems solution.

Implementation of approaches which increase student’s motivation to study is embedded in national and international strategic programs, in particular, the New Ukrainian School concept and the Education 2030 strategy (UNESCO), and the main trends are outlined in the Europe development strategies 2020 and Europe 2030. A promising approach to enhancing student motivation is to use information technology in teaching. Augmented reality tools allow to immerse a student in the learning process through the combination of the real world and the virtual environment. However, these approaches are hardly used in the Ukrainian educational process. This is due to the lack of an intuitive software interface. Google Lens is one of the promising augmented reality tools that increase students' motivation for learning. It is affordable and easy to use and has a multilingual interface. Google Lens is integrated with Google Photos and Google Camera, which can be used on any Android device running Android 4.4 or higher and iOS. According to the study, the accuracy of Google Lens recognition is 92.6%. Only in 7.4% of cases, Google Lens did not give a positive result. This indicator is quite high and much higher than a possibility of a teacher to determine species diversity of plants. Thus, the use of this tool, especially in the conditions of expeditions and excursions, is relevant. For the first time the article highlights the peculiarities of Google Lens, such as the lack of ability to analyse endemic plants (ethno-Ukrainian), which rarely represented in the web-resources, and the impact on the quality of the analysis of the basic parameters of photography. Google Lens characterised by high potential for use in STEM / STEAM classes because it facilitates the implementation of the scientific method. To encourage the use of this tool, we have developed a technique that is available online on the website stemua.science.

Mind mapping is primarily a learning technique based on creating pictorial notes (Buzan 2003). In the present article, mind maps were used as a tool for the study of social representations, so as to investigate a broad spectrum of ideas, beliefs, and values related to multilingualism. The study involved a group of French Philology students training to become teachers of the French language, and its aim was to determine the extent to which their initial representations of multilingualism were consistent with the theoretical assumptions of the Council of Europe’s language policy. This policy encourages teachers of foreign languages to develop multilingual competence among students. The analysis of mind maps and the transcription of the group interview leads to the conclusion that the respondents show some areas of ignorance and stereotypical beliefs that should be reflected upon in the course of their further education preparing them to the teaching profession.
