Dairy farming is vulnerable to seasonal variable factors such as temperature, cold climatic conditions, and rainfall. These affect the production and reproduction traits of dairy animals. Seasonal variability also affects the quantity of consumption and marketing of milk considerably. The study aimed to assess the seasonal fluctuation in milk production in Sivagangai District Cooperative Milk Producer Union Limited (SDCMPUL), Tamil Nadu. The study used secondary data. The milk production data were collected from SDCMPUL, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. The data covered the period from 2001-02 to 2020-21. The study used descriptive statistics, CAGR, and paired ‘t-test to determine the variation of milk production according to seasonal changes. The MS office - Excel software and SPSS software were used to analyse the data. The results revealed that the mean milk production of the lean and flush season was 2.46 and 2.30 lakh liters, and the CAGR of milk production in SDCMPUL, Tamil Nadu, during the period 2001-02 to 2020-21 was 5.65 percent, and it was 5.23 percent in lean season and 6.11 percent in the flush season while the growth rate of milk production during the lean and flush season was positive and was significant statistically. It was found that the quantity of milk production was higher in the lean season than a flush season; however, the variability of milk production was more in the flush season than in the lean season.

The study aimed to examine the analyses of the trend in the numbers of dairy cows, production and reproductive traits in the population the Slovak Spotted cattle for period 2010 to 2019. The number of Slovak Spotted dairy cows is maintained on a relatively stable level in recent years. There was a decrease in the number of animals (12 428 in 2010), but not as strong as after 1990 (85 518). From 2017 number of animals is rising from 14,062, to 14,150 (2018) and 14,627 (2019), respectively. As compared to 2010 an increase of 13.15% in 2017, 13.86% and 17.68%, in 2018 and 2019 respectively was observed. Population size raised from 113.15% (2017) to 117.68% in 2019 respectively. The average annual increase in milk production between the years 2010 to 2019 was + 157.5 kg of milk (total 1,575 kg of milk), + 5.8 kg of fat (total 58 kg of fat) and + 6.1 kg of protein (total 61 kg of protein). Positive growth of milk production in recent years is slightly comparable with the trend of breeding improvement.

AbstractThe concept of milk as a healthy food has opened the way for studies on milk components, from nutrients to microRNAs, molecules with broad regulatory properties present in large quantities in milk. Characterization of these components has been performed in several species, such as humans and bovine, depending on the stages of lactation. Here, we have studied the variation in milk microRNA composition according to genetic background. Using high throughput sequencing, we have characterized and compared the milk miRNomes of Holstein and Normande cattle, dairy breeds with distinct milk production features, in order to highlight microRNAs that are essential for regulation of the lactation process. In Holstein and Normande milk, 2,038 and 2,030 microRNAs were identified, respectively, with 1,771 common microRNAs, of which 1,049 were annotated and 722 were predicted. The comparison of the milk miRNomes of two breeds allowed to highlight 182 microRNAs displaying significant differences in the abundance. They are involved in the regulation of lipid metabolism and mammary morphogenesis and development, which affects lactation. Our results provide new insights into the regulation of molecular mechanisms involved in milk production.
