Applying the Technology Acceptance Model to Measure the Learning Management System Acceptance by Students of Politeknik Sakti Surabaya

The purpose of this study is to measure factors that influence students’acceptance of a Learning Management System (LMS) using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). LMS is an information system that facilitates e-learning that serves to process, store, disseminate learning materials and provides administrative support and communication related to the teaching and learning process. Support students as users of the LMS content are one of the success factors in the implementation of the LMS. This study uses the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which has five factors namely perceived usefullness, perceived ease of use, attitudes towards to use, behavioral intention to use and actual use. A set of questionnaires have been completed by 60 students in Politeknik SAKTI Surabaya. Data were processed using SmartPLS and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The results showed that the TAM was valid, reliable, and substantially acceptable based on the results of data evaluation, ie the indicator factor loading > 0.5, the t-statistic ≥ 1.96, the cronbach alpha ≥ 0.6, and the value of the goodness of fit  = 0.47. The factors that influence students’acceptance of a LMS in Politeknik SAKTI Surabaya are perceived usefullness, perceived ease of use, and attitudes towards to use, affecting the intention to use, and significantly affect the actual use of LMS.

Abstract: Factors Affecting the Use of the Learning Management System inUniversities (A Case Study in Indonesia University of Education). The purpose ofthis paper is to find out factors that affect the usage of the Learning ManagementSystem (LMS) in in Indonesia University of Education. Indonesia University ofEducation has been built LMS to support learning processes. The focus is on factorsaffecting the use of LMS in supporting effective and efficient learning processes. Inthis research the writer used Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to find outthose factors. The data were collected using the survey technique and wereanalyzed by means of the multivariate statistic method. Learning management systems have transformed the information delivery mechanism. The present study derives dimensions from technology acceptance model and assesses the association between the faculty's satisfaction, perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU) in a Moodle-based learning management system. The data collection was done using a questionnaire from one hundred and ninety-nine faculty of B-Schools, using Moodle as the LMS. The findings indicate that both ease of use and perceived usefulness are significant predictors of faculty satisfaction from MOODLE LMS. In addition to the aforementioned TAM constructs, the study has measured moderating impact of demographic variables like city, gender and age. These variables are important differentiators in the Indian context, as LMS is a relatively new adoption in Indian education industry. The study reports that although age is a differentiator between two defined groups, it is however not significantly moderating the relationship between PEOU and satisfaction with Moodle. Gender and type of city (metro versus non-metro cities) have significantly moderated the relationship between PEOU and the satisfaction with Moodle. The study also labels constraints in terms of LMS usage and give suggestions towards its effective use. Henceforth, any similar system must incorporate these constructs to improve the satisfaction and adoption of the LMS by instructors.

This paper investigates the intention to use an electronic Performance Management System (e-PMS) through a conceptual framework derived from the Technology Acceptance Model where several constructs were put under investigation. The positivist approach was adopted in view of collecting primary data from a sample of 52 employees working at XYZ Holdings Limited through a structured survey questionnaire comprising of 25 items segregated under 6 sections. Research findings revealed a positive individual relationship between each independent variable; perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude and accessibility with intention to use the e-PMS respectively. Gender, age, grade and working experience were found to be statistically insignificant. However, when analyzing the constructs simultaneously as a whole model, only perceived ease of use and attitude were found to be statistically significant towards the intention to use the software. The derived model will be useful not only to the management of XYZ Holdings Limited but also to other companies which intend to adopt a new technology while at the same time serves as a base for future research in this field.

With the rapid growth of information technology, electronic money has played an important and central role in the e-payment. Development of electronic money is able to create a trend less-cash society, which is a society’s behavior using non- cash transactions by utilizing the simplicity offered through electronic transactions. The purpose of this research is to determine the factors affecting the intention to use electronic money. We designed a questionnaire and used it to survey a simple random sampling of people who use of e-money in DKI Jakarta. The actual samples used for the study are 125 respondents. We analyzed the data using Structured Equation Modeling to evaluate the strength of the hypothesized effects. The result of the analysis showed that perceived ease of use has no significant effect on attitudes towards the use of e-money. Perceived ease of use has a significant effect on the perceived usefulness of e-money. Perceived usefulness has no significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Perceived usefulness has a significant effect on attitudes towards the use of e-money. Attitude has a significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Subjective norm has a significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Perceived behavioral control has no significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Dengan mengimplementasikan konstruk-konstruk TAM yang meliputi PU (Perceived Usefulness), PEOU (Perceived Ease of Use), ATU (Attitude Toward Using), BITU (Behavioral Intention to Use) dan AU (Actual Use) maka dapat dipastikan akan meningkatkan tingkat kenyamanan user experience melalui interface yang baik dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna informasi.

The e-commerce industry has the potential to be one of the drivers of the domestic economy. One of the impacts of the advancement of e-commerce is the emergence of many online-based marketplaces or so-called e-marketplaces. However, a lot of these online marketplaces sell 90% imported products. In addition, the outbreak of Covid-19 in Indonesia has prompted the government to establish several policies that have significantly reduced MSME performance by up to 70-100%. This study aimed to provide an empirical analysis of the influence of factors based on the Technology of Acceptance Model (TAM) approach, namely e-marketplace self-efficacy, complexity, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude towards using, behavioral intention to use, and actual technology use in e-marketplaces. The sample consisted of MSMEs in East Java, especially those engaged in the food and beverage industry sector with ready-to-eat processed food products whose business activities use the Shopee e-marketplace application platform. This is an online shopping marketplace focused on mobile platforms. There were 150 respondents. The Structural Equation Model (SEM) was used. E-marketplace self-efficacy, complexity, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude towards using, behavioral intention to use, and actual technology use in e-marketplaces all had positive effects on each other. This showed that a system that offers convenience will improve behavior, habits, and performance for MSMEs in using e-marketplace activities. This research suggests a model to explain mobile purchase intention via smartphones based on the technology acceptance model to which specific variables to the m-commerce context were added: perceived risk, innovativeness, ubiquity, and trust in mobile internet. To that aim, a quantitative study was conducted with 400 French mobile users (200 buyers and 200 non-buyers) and was based on a purchase simulation of a train ticket on a mobile site up to the point of payment. The results show that the usefulness (explained by the innovativeness, the ubiquity and trust toward mobile Internet) and the perceived risk (explained by the innovativeness) have an impact on the intention to use unlike the perceived ease of use.

This study examines the applicability of an extended technology acceptance model (TAM) that incorporates trust, perceived risk, and self-enhancement as antecedents to the TAM constructs. Data collected from 299 Vietnamese online consumers, through a self-administered survey, were entered into a structural equation model using AMOS 23 to establish causality. The results partially confirm the applicability of TAM to the online shopping intentions of Vietnamese consumer, though contrary to expectations, perceived ease of use does not predict behavioral intentions. Trust and self-enchantment fit well with the TAM; the inclusion of perceived risk as an antecedent is questionable. The findings offer new opportunities for explaining TAM theory in light of Schwartz's value dimensions. This article thus concludes with a discussion of the research contributions and implications.

This research article explores the important elements of trust and transparency to the adoption of e-government services. The Technology Acceptance Model was used as the theoretical framework. The data capture and analyses were conducted with SPSS. The results indicate that trust in the internet was a significant predictor of both the intention to use and perceived ease of use (PEOU), but was not significant in predicting perceived usefulness (PU) and the actual use (AU) of e-government services. Trust in the government (TG) was also not significant in determining both the intention to use and PEOU of e-government services. Rather TG had a significant impact on PU and the actual use (AU) of e-government services. Furthermore, perceived transparency was a significant predictor of PU, IU, and AU of e-government services. The implications of these findings on the implementation of e-government are thoroughly discussed.
