Driver inattention, either driver drowsiness or distraction, is a major contributor to serious traffic crashes. In general, most research on this topic studies driver drowsiness and distraction separately, and is often conducted in a well-controlled, simulated environment. By considering the reliability and flexibility of real-time driver monitoring systems, it is possible to evaluate driver inattention by the fusion of multiple selected cues in real life scenarios. This paper presents a real-time, visual-cue-based driver monitoring system, which can track both multi-level driver drowsiness and distraction simultaneously. A set of visual cues are adopted via analysis of drivers’ physical behaviour and driving performance. Driver drowsiness is evaluated using a multi-level scale, by applying evidence theory. Additionally, a general framework of extensive hierarchical combinations is used to generate a probabilistic evaluation of driving risk in real time. This driver inattention monitoring system with multimodal fusion has been proven to improve the accuracy of risk evaluation and reduce the rate of false alarms, and acceptance of the system is recommended.

Detection and measurement of pressure plays an important role on safety at different applications such as bridge, mine monitoring. The paper design and develop a remote pressure monitoring system (RPMS). The system is composed of three layers: pressure data sensing, data collection and pressure monitoring. Firstly, the pressure changes are measured by high sensitivity strain gauge and the signal is transferred, amplified and A/D converted; secondly, the pressure data is transmitted from different pressure sensing points to monitoring points; thirdly, after local stored, they are further sent to server center which can real-time monitoring all necessary sensing points. The prototype has also been implemented to verify the efficiency and effectivity of RPMS.

This paper proposes the introduction of embedded technology in dust monitoring system to realize real-time monitoring online in factories. Taking S3C2440 as hardware platform and embedded Linux the developmental environment, the system also introduces a development kit Qt/Embedded from high-performance embedded system GUI. With a soft-hardware system scheme, it realizes the design of real-time monitoring on parameters like dust concentration in the air. Much emphasis has been laid on the analysis of system composition, working theory, hardware design and software development. Integrating functions of displaying, information processing, monitoring etc., the system has such advantages as high-speed, accuracy, high sensitivity and stable performance, and can be matched with various monitoring systems.

Along with the times, recently there have been found tool to facilitate human’s work. Electronics is one of technology to facilitate human’s work. One of human desire is being safe, so that people think to make a tool which can monitor the surrounding condition without being monitored with people’s own eyes. Public awareness of the underground water channels currently felt still very little so frequent floods. To avoid the flood disaster monitoring needs to be done to underground water channels. This tool is controlled via a web browser. for the components used in this monitoring system is the Raspberry Pi technology where the system can take pictures in real time with the help of Logitech C170 webcam camera. web browser and Raspberry Pi make everyone can control the devices around with using smartphone, laptop, computer and ipad. This research is expected to be able to help the users in knowing the blockage on water flow and monitored around in realtime.
