The Mediating Role of Perceived Value: Team Identification and Purchase Intention of Team-Licensed Apparel

The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential mediating effect of perceived value in the relationship between team identification and intent to purchase collegiate team-licensed apparel. Direct effect, partially mediated, and fully mediated models were compared. The respondents were students (N= 110) attending a large university in the southeastern United States. Participants first completed the Team Identification Scale and then viewed a slide depicting an article of licensed merchandise (t-shirt). Participants next completed the Perceived Value and Purchase Intention Scales. Goodness-of-fit statistics indicated that the direct effect model did not fit the data. The partially mediated and the fully mediated models fit equally well; the latter was more parsimonious and thus was chosen for further analysis. Team identification explained 13.2% of the variance in perceived value; perceived value explained 42.6% of the variance in purchase intentions. The findings indicate that team identification alone did not drive the purchase intentions in this study; it is important to take into account the perceived value of the team-licensed merchandise.

This study investigates the mediating effect of perceived value in the relationship between team identification and purchase intention towards licensed apparel within two different price settings (market price and 40% above market price). Considering adaptation level theory, cognitive dissonance theory and dual information processing, it is hypothesised that team identification will directly influence purchase intention when the price of a product decreases. Two models (partial mediation and full mediation) were constructed in each price setting and tested using structural equation modelling (SEM). The results indicate that the partial mediation model better fits the data for the 70,000 Won setting and the full mediation model was a better fit for the 90,000 Won setting.

The purpose of this study is to examine the direct and indirect effect of these determinants on repeat purchase. Competitive training industries impose pressure on managers to increase repeat purchase. Even though service quality and repeat purchase are well studied in prior literature, their determinants such as perceived value and satisfaction have not been fully investigated together as moderating variables. Most of literature stated both of perceived value and satisfaction as independent variables. Besides, most of literature consider purchase as an attitudinal (namely purchase intention), while this study focus on behavioural (namely repeat purchase). Data from a survey of 300 customers of public training are used to empirically evaluate the model. Results indicate that perceived value and the satisfaction have no direct effect on repeat purchase. However, these constructs indirectly influence repeat purchase through the mediating role of service quality. Satisfaction and perceived value play a major role in enhancing service quality, but do not directly impact repeat purchase. Interestingly, the direct effect on repeat purchases stems from service quality while recent researches suggest satisfaction is the antecedent. The findings suggest that training companies should invest more resources aimed at enhancing service quality through service delivery training for their employees. Even though prior research has considered the concepts studied here, this study aims to empirically evaluate a variety of antecedent factors that potentially affect repeat purchase. Relationships are established utilizing data collected in Indonesia (an increasingly important consumer market) which adds value to extant knowledge in this area. PurposeThis study aims to explore the indirect and direct effect of perceived congruence between fans' identification with a team and the intention to buy sponsor's products. The level of perceived congruence between the sponsor and the sports team, as well as fans' attitude toward the sponsor and their purchase intention toward products from the sponsoring company are analyzed.Design/methodology/approachA sample of 2,647 football fans who support two well-known Portuguese professional football teams completed a questionnaire. Structural equation modeling with multigroup analysis was carried out to test the model and the hypotheses.FindingsTeam identification has an effect on perceived congruence, on attitude toward sponsors and on intention to buy. The results also show the positive direct and indirect effects of both perceived congruence on attitude toward the sponsoring company and on purchase intention of sponsors' products. However, neither congruence nor attitude show significant results on purchase intention.Originality/valueThis study departs from previous studies, in that it investigates the direct and indirect (i.e. mediated) effects of perceived congruence. Firstly, it analyzes the mediating effect of perceived congruence between team identification and purchase intentions. Secondly, it explores the mediating effect of perceived congruence between team identification and attitude toward the sponsor.

<p><em>ABSTRACT</em></p><p><em>Indonesia is one of the largest Moslem population countries in the world. It leads to the increasing of halal product demand in Indonesia. The awareness to consume halal product becomes a large market potential for producers to produce their halal products. Nowadays, halal is not only purely about religion matter, but also about business and trade. The objective of this study is to investigate the factors affecting customers on purchasing halal buying interest on processed food. We use a purposive sampling method with 109 respondents who are customers of the supermarkets and minimarkets in Bogor City/District, Indonesia. While data analysis is done by SEM-PLS method, this study uses brand image, perceived quality, perceived value, halal certification, health reason, halal awareness, and halal marketing as the factors which are affecting the halal purchase intention of the customers. The result showed that health reason, halal awareness, and perceived value have a significant and positive direct effect on purchasing intention. Halal marketing also shows a significant and positive effect on purchasing intention. While halal marketing shows a negative and significant effect on purchasing intention. The food safety, halal certification, brand image, and perceived quality show the same effect which has no direct effect on purchasing intention. Furthermore, food safety has an indirect effect on purchasing intention through health reason. Halal certification has an indirect effect on minat beli through brand image variable. Meanwhile, brand image and perceived quality have an indirect effect through perceived value variable on purchasing intention.</em></p><p><em><br /></em></p><p>ABSTRAK</p><p>Indonesia adalah salah satu negara dengan populasi Muslim terbesar di dunia. Hal ini menyebabkan meningkatnya permintaan produk halal di Indonesia. Kesadaran untuk mengkonsumsi produk halal menjadi potensi pasar yang besar bagi produsen untuk memproduksi produk halal mereka. Saat ini, halal tidak hanya murni soal agama, tapi juga soal bisnis dan perdagangan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi minat pelanggan dalam membeli pada makanan olahan halal. Kami menggunakan metode voluntery sampling dengan 109 responden yang merupakan pelanggan supermarket dan minimarket di Kota/Kabupaten Bogor, Indonesia. Sedangkan analisis data dilakukan dengan metode SEM-PLS. Penelitian ini menggunakan citra merek, persepsi kualitas, persepsi nilai, sertifikasi halal, kesehatan, kesadaran halal, dan Pemasaran halal sebagai faktor yang mempengaruhi niat pembelian halal pelanggan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesadaran halal, alasan kesehatan, dan persepsi nilai berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap niat beli. Pemasaran halal juga menunjukkan efek positif dan signifikan terhadap niat beli. Sedangkan pemasaran halal menunjukkan efek negatif dan signifikan terhadap niat beli. Keamanan pangan, sertifikasi halal, citra merek, dan kualitas yang dirasakan menunjukkan efek yang sama yang tidak berpengaruh langsung pada niat beli. Selanjutnya, keamanan pangan berpengaruh tidak langsung terhadap niat beli melalui alasan kesehatan. Sertifikasi halal memiliki efek tidak langsung terhadap niat beli melalui variabel citra merek. Sedangkan citra merek dan persepsi kualitasmemiliki pengaruh tidak langsung melalui persepsi nilai variable terhadap niat beli.</p>

The intermediary effect interval of the preschool teachers' competence characteristics → positive psychological capital → the subjective well-being of the preschool teachers is (0.23—0.55), does not contain 0, and the effect amount is 0.35. The competency characteristics of preschool teachers → The direct effect interval of subjective well-being of preschool teachers is (0.05—0.36), excluding 0, and the effect quantity is 0.20, indicating that positive psychological capital as a mediator variable has the characteristics of preschool teachers and the subjective well-being of preschool teachers. Partial mediating effect, the ratio of mediating effect to total effect is 64.01%.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the “virtual try-on” technology (AR) and the “3D virtual store” (VR) incorporated in an apparel retail website on purchase intentions. This study highlights the mediating role of cognitive elaboration in the process through which these technologies influence purchase intentions, and examines the way consumers’ shopping goals (searching vs. browsing) interact with the website technology and influence their responses. The two experiments demonstrated that, for browsers, the website with VR was more effective in increasing purchase intentions than were the website with AR or a regular website with no technology, while for searchers, both the website with AR and the website with VR were more effective than was a regular website. In addition, cognitive elaboration mediated the interaction between a technology and a shopping goal on purchase intentions for browsers, while such a mediating effect was not found in searchers.

This study aims to determine the effect of brand awareness, brand image, and customer perceived value on purchase intentions. The sampling technique used in this study is nonprobability sampling by purposive sampling using a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 146 which valid respondents 142 respondents. Data analysis method used in this study is multiple regression analysis. For operational variables using the Likert scale method of validity used a computer measuring instrument that is SPSS 25.0. The results showed that the brand awareness variable have a significant and positif effect, brand image have a significant and positif effect, customer perceived value have a significant and positif effect on purchase intention. In this case the brand image is the most influences of purchase intention.

This study aims to reanalyze and reconfirm the relationships of celebrity endorsements and E-WOM on consumer purchasing intentions and examine the indirect influence of celebrity endorsements and e-WOM and trust as the mediation of purchase intentions. This study is the first in Indonesia to analyze the above mediating relationships. The data are from 100 Instagram users responding to online questionnaires and analyzed with PLS-SEM. The results showed that celebrity endorsement and e-WOM positively influence consumer confidence and purchasing intentions by mediating trust variables. This research highlights the role of influence in creating positive buzzes to the promoted sales.

This study aims to construct a correlational model for the determinant of consumer purchase intention on environmentally friendly packaging beverage products by examining the product image and company reputation as mediators in the association of green perceived value on consumer purchase intention with the ex-post facto quantitative approach. The target population is the community in Malang City, EastJava who is aware of the existence of cardboard packaging beverage products and intends to purchase the products. Data were collected by employing a questionnaire distributed online. 300 respondents were selected by convenience sampling. The collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) by utilizing AMOS software. The final model was obtained with an adequate Goodness of Fit value.The structural model that has been successfully constructed shows that green perceived value has no significant effect on purchase intention. Besides, the product image and company reputation play a role in mediating the impact of Green Perceived Value on Purchase Intention.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating effect of perceived festival value on the relationship between satisfaction and experiences in the context of a music festival. The study presented herein also examined festival experiences based on the experience economy model.Design/methodology/approachA face-to-face survey was performed at the rock music festival Kuzey Fest in Sinop/Turkey, where 336 questionnaires were completed. The statistical analyses conducted to establish the relationship between experiences, perceived value and satisfaction comprised explanatory factor analyses and multiple regression analysis.FindingsThis study showed that the experience economy in the context of music festivals consists of four experience dimensions. According to the findings, the participants had predominantly entertainment and aesthetics experiences through passive participation. The study concluded that there were partial and full mediating roles of perceived festival value in the relationship between some experience dimensions and satisfaction; however, it was also found that escape experiences did not significantly affect satisfaction. Finally, the aesthetics, education, entertainment and festival value variables were important pioneer variables for satisfaction.Practical implicationsThis study provides industry practitioners with meaningful insight on how to build rich festival experiences and satisfaction.Originality/valuePerceived value is a critical factor for developing satisfaction and gaining a competitive edge. While much is known about the effect of festival experiences on satisfaction, there is little research examining festival value within the framework of experiences and satisfaction. This research also provides valuable insights for applying the experience economy within the context of events management.
