Staphylococcus hominis is a culturable component of the bacterial microbiome of Anopheles stephensi . Here, we present the annotated draft genome sequences of three S. hominis isolates from A. stephensi . These genomic resources will facilitate experiments to further our understanding of the role of bacteria in mosquito biology.

Phymatotrichopsis omnivora is a destructive plant pathogen causing root rot disease of alfalfa, cotton, pecan, grape, and many other important dicotyledonous species. A member of the family Rhizinaceae, in the class Pezizomycetes, P. omnivora is a soilborne ascomycete fungus that is difficult to maintain in culture, currently genetically intractable, and for which there are no publicly available genomic resources. We have generated draft genome sequences of four P. omnivora isolates obtained from cotton and alfalfa, growing in Texas and Oklahoma, USA. These genome sequences will provide new insights into the biology of the fungus, including the factors responsible for its broad host range and pathogenicity.

ABSTRACTA lacuna exists in our understanding of the genetic makeup of Endozoicomonas bacteria, due to scarcity of genome sequences. We report here the first draft genome sequence of Endozoicomonas acroporae Acr-14, a type strain isolated from the coral Acropora. This sequence will foster an understanding of the genetic makeup and role of hosts in shaping gene repertoires.

An isolate of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia was cultured from the Asian malaria vector Anopheles stephensi . Here, we present the annotated draft genome sequence of this S. maltophilia strain. This genomic resource will facilitate further characterization of bacteria associated with mosquitoes.

AbstractGenomic resources remain scarce for bacteria isolated from oligotrophic caves. We sequenced the genomes of five Proteobacteria isolated from Lechuguilla Cave in New Mexico, USA. Genome-based phylogeny indicates that each strain belongs to a distinct genus. Two Rhizobiaceae isolates possess the genomic potential for the biosynthesis of acyl-homoserine lactone.

ABSTRACT Members of the Staphylococcus genus are known pathogens causing mastitis in dairy cows, which results in major economic losses. Here, we present Staphylococcus epidermidis UFMG-H7, Staphylococcus hominis UFMG-H7B, and Staphylococcus sciuri UFMG-H6, isolated from the urine of healthy purebred Gyr heifers.

ABSTRACT Listeria monocytogenes frequently exhibits resistance to arsenic. We report here the draft genome sequences of eight genetically diverse arsenic-resistant L. monocytogenes strains from human listeriosis and food-associated environments. The availability of these genomes will help elucidate the role of heavy-metal resistance in the ecology of L. monocytogenes.
