ABSTRACT We present here the whole-genome sequence of Shewanella sp. WE21, an unusual omega-3 fatty acid-producing bacterium isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of the freshwater fish Sander vitreus (walleye). This genome contains a number of unique, large genomic islands with genes not present in other Shewanella bacteria.

Arcobacter skirrowii is a species of veterinary importance, originally recovered from the feces, aborted fetuses, and preputial fluids of livestock. We present here the whole-genome sequence of the A. skirrowii type strain LMG 6621 (= 449/80T = CCUG 10374T), isolated in the United Kingdom from a lamb diarrheal fecal sample.

Streptococcus oralis is a commensal viridans group streptococcus of the human oral cavity and a frequent cause of endovascular infection. Here, we report the complete whole-genome sequence of S. oralis strain SF100, which was originally isolated from the blood of a patient with infective endocarditis. This strain contains the lysogenic bacteriophage SM1, which enhances the virulence of SF100 in animal models of endocardial infection.

Synechococcus spp. are unicellular cyanobacteria that are globally distributed and are important primary producers in marine coastal environments. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of Synechococcus sp. strain WH 8101 and identify genomic islands that may play a role in virus-host interactions.

Rickettsia parkeri is classified as a member of the alphaproteobacterial microorganisms, genus Rickettsia. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of Rickettsia parkeri strain Atlantic Rainforest, which was isolated from an Amblyomma ovale tick collected in the municipality of Necoclí, Colombia.

ABSTRACTThis work describes a whole-genome sequence ofStreptococcus agalactiaestrain GD201008-001, a pathogen causing meningoencephalitis in cultural tilapia in China. The genome sequence provides opportunities to understand the piscine GBS pathogenicity and its genetic basis associated with host tropism.

In this work, we report the complete genome sequence of aCorynebacterium pseudotuberculosisPAT10 isolate, collected from a lung abscess in an Argentine sheep in Patagonia, whose pathogen also required an investigation of its pathogenesis. Thus, the analysis of the genome sequence offers a means to better understanding of the molecular and genetic basis of virulence of this bacterium.

Paracoccus spp. are metabolically versatile alphaproteobacteria able to perform heterotrophic and chemoautotrophic growth. This study describes the whole-genome sequence of the Paracoccus pantotrophus type strain DSM 2944 (ATCC 35512, LMD 82.5, GB17). The genome sequence revealed the presence of a complete phaZ phaC phaP phaR gene cluster related to polyhydroxyalkanoate metabolism.

ABSTRACT Bifidobacterium longum, a Gram-positive rod-shaped anaerobic bacterium, inhabits the human gastrointestinal tract and contributes significantly to oligosaccharide production, amino acid metabolism, and protection against intestinal inflammation. Here, we report the whole-genome sequence of B. longum, which was isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of a healthy Indian adult.
