ABSTRACT Carbapenems are considered last-resort antibiotics used to treat human infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria. In 2011, VIM-1 carbapenemase-producing Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Infantis strains were isolated from livestock for the first time in Germany. Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of the first German bla VIM-1 -harboring Salmonella Infantis isolate (15-SA01028) originating from food.

Carbapenems are an important class of β-lactams and one of the last options for treating severe human infections. We present here the complete genome sequence of avian native carbapenemase-producing Salmonella enterica subsp.

The genome of a multidrug-resistant (MDR) Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar I 4,[5],12:i:− isolate from the 2015 U.S. pork outbreak was sequenced. The complete nucleotide sequence of USDA15WA-1 is 5,031,277 bp, including Salmonella genomic island 4 encoding tolerance to multiple metals and an MDR module inserted in the fljB region.

Salmonella enterica serovar Heidelberg is a multidrug-resistant foodborne pathogen that originated from poultry and cattle. Bacteriophages isolated for this pathogen may be used as biocontrol agents in food products or animals for preventing Salmonella foodborne diseases.

We present here the complete genome sequence of Lactococcus lactis strain 14B4, isolated from almond drupes in northern California. This strain was observed to inhibit the growth of Salmonella enterica serotype Poona strain RM3363 in vitro.

ABSTRACT Nocardia wallacei is one of the members of the N. transvalensis complex which possess a highly unique susceptibility pattern. Here, we describe the closed complete genome sequence of the multidrug-resistant strain N. wallacei FMUON74, which was obtained using a hybrid approach combining Nanopore long-read sequencing and Illumina and DNBseq short-read sequencing.

Salmonella enterica serovar Fresno is an infrequently isolated serovar whose ecology and genomic characteristics have not yet been described. To further understand the genomic characteristics of this serovar, we sequenced the complete genome of a single isolate recovered from a bovine lymph node at harvest.

Using a metagenomics approach, we were able to determine for the first time the full-genome sequence of a psittacine adenovirus 1 isolate that was recovered from the liver of a dead Senegal parrot (Poicephalus senegalus) in Italy. The results of the phylogenetic investigations revealed the existence of high genetic diversity among adenoviruses circulating in psittacine birds.

ABSTRACT We present here the complete genome sequence of Trueperella pyogenes UFV1. The 2.3-Mbp genome contains an extremely interesting AI-2 transporter and processing system related to the quorum-sensing signal response. This specific feature is described in this species for the first time and might be responsible for a new pathogenic behavior.

Klebsiella pneumoniae is a Gram-negative bacterium that is a major cause of nosocomial infections worldwide. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of TK421, a clinical bacteremia isolate containing a hypervirulence plasmid carrying tra-associated conjugation machinery genes. Emergence of conjugative hypervirulence plasmids could portend rapid dissemination of hypervirulence among multidrug-resistant K. pneumoniae strains.

May is a newly isolated myophage that infects multidrug-resistant strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae, a pathogen that is associated with antibiotic-resistant infections in humans. The genome of May has been shown to be similar to that of phage Vi01.
