ABSTRACT Pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV) was first reported as a latent strain in the United States and then later reported in other countries around the world. Here, we report the first complete genome sequence of a PMMoV isolate (BL14) that was collected from chili pepper during the 2014 growing season in Oklahoma.

Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV) (genus Potyvirus, family Potyviridae) was first isolated in Europe during the 1970s and in the United States in 1981. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of ZYMV isolate BL-67, isolated from pumpkin in Oklahoma during the 2016 growing season.

Cucurbit aphid-borne yellows virus (CABYV) was first described in France in 1992 and since then has been reported in various parts of the world, including the United States. Here, we present the first complete genome sequence of a CABYV isolate (BL4) that was collected from pumpkin during the 2017 growing season in Oklahoma.

The carbapenem resistance gene bla NDM-5 was identified in an Escherichia coli strain isolated from a dog. We report here the complete genome sequence of this E. coli strain; the bla NDM-5 gene was present on a large IncFII multidrug-resistant plasmid. This is the first bla NDM-5-carrying E. coli strain from an animal in the United States.

ABSTRACT Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) colonizes and causes disease in many animal species. Livestock-associated MRSA (LA-MRSA) isolates are represented by isolates of the sequence type 398 (ST398). These isolates are considered to be livestock adapted. This report provides the complete genome sequence of one swine-associated LA-MRSA ST398 isolate from the United States.

ABSTRACT The thermophilic Campylobacter species Campylobacter hepaticus is the causative agent of spotty liver disease (SLD) in chickens. This announcement describes the complete genome sequence of C. hepaticus strain UF2019SK1, isolated from the liver of a commercial layer chicken with SLD in the United States.

ABSTRACT Campylobacter hepaticus was recently identified as the etiological agent of chicken spotty liver disease. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of C. hepaticus strain USA52 from the United States. The genome comprises a chromosome of 1,509,100 bp with an average GC content of 28.02%.

The complete genome sequence of a bipartite begomovirus found in a Sida sp. plant growing in Bradenton, FL, was determined. The virus is a new strain of Sida golden mosaic Buckup virus (family Geminiviridae, genus Begomovirus). This is the first report of this virus in the United States and the first report outside Jamaica.

We report here, using third-generation, single-molecule, real-time DNA sequencing, the first complete genome sequence of Salmonella enterica serovar Worthington CFSAN051295, isolated from pistachios in the United States. The genome consists of a single 4.9-Mb chromosome.

ABSTRACT Livestock-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (LA-MRSA) may be the largest MRSA reservoir outside the hospital setting. One concern with LA-MRSA is the acquisition of novel mobile genetic elements by these isolates. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of a swine LA-MRSA sequence type 5 isolate from the United States.
