vB_EcoM-UFV13, a member of the
T4virus
genus, shows lytic activity against
Escherichia coli
and effectiveness in controlling the biofilm formed by
Trueperella pyogenes
, which qualifies it as a promising component of phage cocktails for mastitis and metritis control.
ABSTRACT
The bacterium Klebsiella aerogenes is an opportunistic pathogen that often infects hospitalized patients and those who are immunocompromised. K. aerogenes in some cases can become resistant to antibiotic treatment. Being a potential therapeutic, Metamorpho is a T4-like myophage targeting K. aerogenes.
Acinetobacter baumannii
is a Gram-negative opportunistic pathogen that is frequently associated with nosocomial infections. Bacteriophages infecting
A. baumannii
can be used as effective agents to control these infections. Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of the lytic bacteriophage LZ35 infecting
A. baumannii
isolates.
Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is an opportunistic pathogen that commonly causes foodborne illness. Study of bacteriophages against this pathogen could be useful to develop alternative treatment approaches. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of LL11, a T7-like podophage that infects ETEC.
ABSTRACT
We present here the complete genome sequence of Trueperella pyogenes UFV1. The 2.3-Mbp genome contains an extremely interesting AI-2 transporter and processing system related to the quorum-sensing signal response. This specific feature is described in this species for the first time and might be responsible for a new pathogenic behavior.
Bacteroides fragilis
is an obligate anaerobe and a common gut commensal bacterium that is also an important opportunistic pathogen. Here, we present the complete genome sequence of the circularly permuted
B. fragilis
bacteriophage vB_BfrS_NCTC. It comprises 47,160 bp, with 69 open reading frames.
Klebsiella pneumoniae is a Gram-negative opportunistic pathogen and a leading cause of antibiotic-resistant nosocomial infections. The genome sequence of siphophage Skenny, which infects K. pneumoniae, is described here. Skenny encodes 78 genes and is closely related to Klebsiella phages KPN N141 and MezzoGao, which are T1-like phages.
Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic pathogen associated with hospital-acquired infections. This report describes the complete genome of the K. pneumoniae myophage Mulock, which appears to be a temperate myophage distantly related to other Klebsiella myophages in morphogenesis genes and is partially syntenic with the canonical Escherichia phage lambda in genes encoding lambda-like functions.
