ABSTRACT Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis causes Johne’s disease in ruminants and was also detected in nonruminant species, including human beings, and in milk products. We announce here the 4.829-Mb complete genome sequence of the cattle-type strain JII-1961 from Germany, which is very similar to cattle-type strains recovered from different continents.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the complete genome sequence of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis strain 42-13-1, isolated from cattle presenting with chronic diarrhea caused by Johne’s disease in Japan, which was assembled via long- and short-read hybrid assembly.

ABSTRACT The complete genome sequence of a type III strain of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis was determined. The genome size for this pathogen of sheep is 4,895,755 bp with no plasmid DNA. The chromosome contains 19 copies of the hallmark IS900 element, which is routinely used to identify this subspecies.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the complete genome sequence of the Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis reference strain DSM 44135, amended with a manual genome reannotation. The strain was originally described as M. paratuberculosis strain 6783. It was isolated from feces from a dairy cow in northern Germany.

Here, we describe the complete genome assembly of Mycobacterium avium subsp. hominissuis strain JP-H-1, collected from an equine abortion case in Japan. JP-H-1 has a 5,491,452-bp circular chromosome and 3 plasmids.

ABSTRACT Mycobacterium chimaera, a nontuberculous mycobacterium (NTM) belonging to the Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC), is an opportunistic pathogen that can cause respiratory and disseminated disease. We report the complete genome sequence of a strain, SJ42, isolated from an immunocompromised male presenting with MAC pneumonia, assembled from Illumina and Oxford Nanopore data.

ABSTRACT Mycobacterium avium subsp. hominissuis is an environmentally acquired bacterium known to cause pulmonary and soft tissue infections, lymphadenitis, and disseminated disease in humans. We report here the complete genome sequence of strain H87, isolated from an indoor water sample, as a single circular chromosome of 5,626,623 bp with a G+C content of 68.8%.

Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of the Mycobacterium avium subsp. avium strain DSM 44156, also deposited as ATCC 25291 and TMC 724. The reference strain was originally described as a serotype 2 strain isolated from a hen by F. D. Chester in 1901.
