ABSTRACT Pseudomonas putida strain ASAD was isolated from compost because of its ability to utilize aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) as a carbon and energy source. We report the draft genome sequence of strain ASAD, with an estimated length of 6.9 Mb. Study of this isolate will provide insight into the aspirin biodegradation pathway.

ABSTRACT Bacillus megaterium strain O1 was isolated from a soapnut (Sapindus saponaria) surface and degrades Quillaja saponin as a sole carbon source. We report the draft genome sequence of B. megaterium O1, which has an estimated size of 5.1 Mb. Study of this isolate will provide insight into mechanisms of saponin degradation.

ABSTRACT Aquimarina sp. strain I32.4 (formerly Aquimarina sp. ‘ homaria ’) is a putative pathogen involved in epizootic shell disease in the American lobster ( Homarus americanus ). We report here the draft genome sequence for Aquimarina sp. strain I32.4 and describe virulence factors that may provide insight into its mechanism of pathogenicity.

Here, we report the genome sequence of Tsukamurella tyrosinosolvens strain PS2, which was isolated from hydrocarbon sludge of an organic synthesis factory. This strain was able to utilize a wide range of n-alkanes, from C16 to C35, as sole carbon sources.

ABSTRACT We report here the draft genome sequence of Hydrogenibacillus schlegelii MA48, a thermophilic facultative anaerobe that can oxidize hydrogen aerobically. H. schlegelii MA48 belongs to a deep-branching clade of the Bacilli class and provides important insight into the acquisition of aerobic respiration within the Firmicutes phylum.

We report the genome sequence of a polyethylene-degrading bacterial strain identified as Stenotrophomonas maltophilia strain PE591, which was isolated from plastic debris found in savanna soil. The genome was assembled in 16 scaffolds with a length of 4,751,236 bp, a GC content of 66.5%, and 4,432 predicted genes.

A draft genome sequence of Methanobacterium sp. strain 34x was reconstructed from the metagenome of an enriched electromethanogenic biocathode operated in a microbial electrosynthesis (MES) reactor. Methanobacterium sp. strain 34x has 68.98% nucleotide-level genomic similarity with the closest related methanogen available with a whole-genome assembly, Methanobacterium lacus strain AL-21. This genome will provide insight into the functional potential of methanogens at the biocathodes of MES systems.

ABSTRACT Pseudomonas aeruginosa Hex1T was isolated from soils contaminated with used lubricating oil from a garage in Córdoba, Argentina. This strain is capable of utilizing this pollutant as the sole carbon and energy source. Here, we present the 6.9-Mb draft genome sequence of Hex1T, which contains many heavy metal-resistance genes.
