ABSTRACT Four strains isolated from tomato and lettuce phyllosphere were sequenced in order to investigate the presence of novel antimicrobial gene clusters and to get a better understanding of plant microbe interactions. These strains comprise two Bacillus strains, one Paenibacillus strain, and one Acinetobacter strain.

ABSTRACT We report the draft genome sequences of five novel Bacillus strains isolated from five different batches of fermented Napa cabbage kimchee. Strains TNC1(2019), TNC3(2019), and TNW1(2019) were identified as Bacillus subtilis, while TNC2(2019) and TNW2(2019) were identified as Bacillus velezensis.

Here, we report the draft genome sequences of Bacillus subtilis A1, Sphingobacterium sp. strain A3, and Pseudomonas sp. strain A29; Sphingobacterium sp. A3 and Pseudomonas sp. A29 were identified as Bacillus velezensis strain A3 and Bacillus subtilis strain A29, respectively, after a quality control check of the whole-genome sequences deposited in the NCBI database. These bacteria exhibit tremendous production of siderophores and significant antimicrobial potential. When inoculated on maize, these isolates increase its yield.

ABSTRACT Here, we report the whole-genome sequence of Bacillus subtilis strain DKU_NT_01 isolated from traditional Korean food containing soybean (chung-gook-jang). The de novo genome of Bacillus subtilis strain DKU_NT_01 has one contig and G+C content of 55.4%, is 4,954,264 bp in length, and contains 5,011 coding sequences (CDSs).

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Aspergillus calidoustus (strain SF006504) . The functional annotation of A. calidoustus predicts a relatively large number of secondary metabolite gene clusters. The presented genome sequence builds the basis for further genome mining.

Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii is a bacterial pathogen with serious implications for human health and is recognized as an urgent threat by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Total DNA from two A. baumannii clinical isolates collected over 3 days from a fatal case of necrotizing fasciitis has been sequenced to >30× coverage.

Fusarium wilt is a devastating soil-borne disease caused mainly by highly host-specific formae speciales of Fusarium oxysporum. Antagonistic microorganisms play a very important role in Fusarium wilt control, and the isolation of potential biocontrol strains is becoming more and more important. We isolated a bacterial strain (SEM-9) from the high-temperature stage of silkworm excrement composting, which had a marked ability to solubilize phosphorus, promote the growth and increase the yield of the small Chinese cabbage, and which also exhibited considerable antagonistic effect towards Fusarium sambucinum and other fungi. The result of physiological and biochemical analyses, as well as genome sequencing, showed that SEM-9 was a strain of Bacillus subtilis. Through genome annotation and analysis, it was found that SEM-9 contained genes related to the regulation of biofilm formation, which may play an important role in colonization, and gene clusters encoding the biosynthesis of antimicrobials, such as surfactin, bacilysin, fengycin, and subtilosin-A. The production of such antifungal compounds may constitute the basis of the mode-of-action of SEM-9 against Fusarium spp. These data suggested that the SEM-9 strain has potential as both a biofertilizer and a biocontrol agent, with the potential to manage Fusarium wilt disease in crops.

The development of multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii is of serious concern in the hospital setting. Here, we report draft genome sequences of 11 A. baumannii isolates that were isolated from a single patient over a 65-day period, during which time the isolates exhibited increased antimicrobial resistance.

We present here the draft genome sequences of multidrug-resistant bla NDM-1 -positive Acinetobacter baumannii strains ACMH-6200 and ACMH-6201, isolated in north Lebanon from civilians wounded during the Syrian civil war. The draft genomes were contained in 217 contigs for ACMH-6200 and 83 contigs for ACMH-6201, including a combined 3,997,237 bases for ACMH-6200 and 3,983,110 bases for ACMH-6201, with 39% and 38.9% G+C content, respectively.
