Flow Stress and Yield Point Observations on Normal and Superconducting Indium and Lead
Keyword(s):
Measurements of the plastic flow stress and 30 MHz ultrasonic attenuation in normal and superconducting 99.9999% pure In and Pb are presented. For both In and Pb, with a strain rate of 10−5 s−1, the attenuation change Δαsn takes about 3 s while the related flow stress change Δσsn takes about 30 s. In indium Δαns and Δσns are completed in about 40 s; in Pb the corresponding times are about 3 s or less. Experimental evidence is presented which shows unequivocally that the dislocation arrangements in the normal and superconducting states are different.
