Two temperature sensing circuits using silicon diodes and integrated circuit components are described. They are intended for use with data acquisition systems and are suitable for field or laboratory applications. Both can be constructed by persons without electronic training and have features of simplicity, low cost, and high accuracy.

In this work, a new and low-cost Arduino-Based Data Acquisition System (ABDAS) for use in an aerodynamics lab is developed. Its design is simple and reliable. The accuracy of the system has been checked by being directly compared with a commercial and high accuracy level hardware from National Instruments. Furthermore, ABDAS has been compared to the accredited calibration system in the IDR/UPM Institute, its measurements during this testing campaign being used to analyzed two different cup anemometer frequency determination procedures: counting pulses and the Fourier transform. The results indicate a more accurate transfer function of the cup anemometers when counting pulses procedure is used.

The interface presented in this paper performs a synchronized sampling of all eight common-mode or differential analog inputs with a high sampling rate. This is a low cost interface, entirely controlled by the PC104 CPU. The paper is focused on design and operation aspects of the synchronized analog-to-digital conversion module. This interface is recommended for high speed data acquisition systems and finds its utility in energetic systems, for monitoring the power quality and for recording different specific transient events. Some programmable electronic modules which perform analog and digital signal acquisition in energetic systems already contain a PC104 interface with synchronized sampling of analog inputs; some experimental results are also presented in this paper.

A low-cost, intelligent data acquisition system for quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and other (superficial SAW and bulk acoustic wave) resonator-based chemical and biosensors described in this article. The system is based on the novel modified method of the dependent count and allows obtaining high metrological performances: programmable and constant in all frequency range relative error of measurement up to 0,0005 % (5 ppm); nonredundant, reduced conversion time of measurement and wide frequency range from 0.05 Hz to 9 MHz (144 MHz with prescaling). The developed system allows measuring variations of the resonance frequency shift for QCM sensors working in liquids and gases. The described low-cost data acquisition system is based on novel integrated circuit of universal frequency-to-digital converter. This design approach has eliminated much of the hardware: there is no need for a microcontroller and complex sensor interfacing electronics, as it is directly compatible with PC computers.
