In this paper, we survey the radial and orbital excitations of I = 0 and [Formula: see text] systems anticipated up to 2.0 GeV in the framework of the chiral quark model. The Schrödinger equation is solved by using Gaussian expansion method. And using the wave functions obtained, instead of the simple harmonic oscillator wave functions, we study systematically the two-body strong decay (limited to S + S modes) of the systems. By comparing with the experimental data, we try to identify the normal states and exotic states.

Within an extended chiral constituent quark model, three- and five-quark structure of the S01 resonance Λ(1405) is investigated with respect to the coupling constants [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. Our findings corroborate with about 50% of five-quark admixture in the Λ(1405) needed in reproducing the strong decay width, ΓΛ(1405)→(Σπ)°.

We study some of the main properties (masses and open-flavor strong decay widths) of 4P and 5P charmonia. While there are two candidates for the χc0(4P,5P) states, the X(4500) and X(4700), the properties of the other members of the χc(4P,5P) multiplets are still completely unknown. With this in mind, we start to explore the charmonium interpretation for these mesons. Our second goal is to investigate if the apparent mismatch between the Quark Model (QM) predictions for χc0(4P,5P) states and the properties of the X(4500) and X(4700) mesons can be overcome by introducing threshold corrections in the QM formalism. According to our coupled-channel model results for the threshold mass shifts, the χc0(5P)→X(4700) assignment is unacceptable, while the χc0(4P)→X(4500) or X(4700) assignments cannot be completely ruled out.

Abstract Inspired by the newly observed $$\Lambda _b(6072)$$Λb(6072) structure, we investigate its strong decay behaviors under various assignments within the $$^3P_0$$3P0 model. Compared with the mass and total decay width, our results suggest that the $$\Lambda _b(6072)$$Λb(6072) can be regarded as the lowest $$\rho $$ρ-mode excitation in $$\Lambda _b$$Λb family. Then, the strong decays of $$\rho $$ρ-mode nonstrange partners for the $$\Lambda _b(6072)$$Λb(6072) are calculated. It is found that the $$J^P=5/2^-$$JP=5/2-$$\Lambda _b$$Λb and $$\Lambda _c$$Λc states are relatively narrow, and mainly decay into the $$\Sigma _b^{(*)} \pi $$Σb(∗)π and $$\Sigma _c^{(*)} \pi $$Σc(∗)π final states, respectively. These two states have good potentials to be observed in future experiments, which may help us to distinguish the three-quark model and diquark model.

Abstract Recently, the LHCb Collaboration has confirmed the state X(4140), with a mass $$M=4146.5\pm 4.5^{+4.6}_{-2.8}$$M=4146.5±4.5-2.8+4.6 MeV, and a much larger width $$\Gamma =83\pm 21^{+21}_{-14}$$Γ=83±21-14+21 MeV than the previous experimental measurements, which has confused the understanding of its nature. We will investigate the possibility of the $$\chi _{c1}(3P)$$χc1(3P) interpretation for the X(4140), considering the mass spectra predicted in the quark model, and the strong decay properties within the $$^3P_0$$3P0 model. We also predict the strong decay properties of the charmonium states $$\chi _{c0}(3P)$$χc0(3P) and $$\chi _{c2}(3P)$$χc2(3P). Our results show that the X(4140) state with the small width given in PDG can be explained as the charmonium state $$\chi _{c1}(3P)$$χc1(3P) in the $$^3P_0$$3P0 model, and high precision measurement of the width of the X(4140) is crucial to understand its nature.

In this work, the genuine resonance states of full-charm tetraquark systems with quantum numbers JPC=0++,1+−,2++ are searched in a nonrelativistic chiral quark model with the help of the Gaussian Expansion Method. In this calculation, two structures, meson-meson and diquark–antidiquark, as well as their mixing with all possible color-spin configurations, are considered. The results show that no bound states can be formed. However, resonances are possible because of the color structure. The genuine resonances are identified by the stabilization method (real scaling method). Several resonances for the full-charm system are proposed, and some of them are reasonable candidates for the full-charm states recently reported by LHCb.
