Mortarless interlocking blocks have the advantage of convenient construction and low cost, but establishing the geometry interlocking mechanism between horizontal blocks has been overlooked. Optimizing the shape of mortarless interlocking block. The connection of vertical direction in the form of a frustum of a cone, and the connection of horizontal direction in the form of trapezoid shape. This design proposal builds geometry interlocking mechanism between the block and its all adjacent ones. Setting cone and rectangular holes on block body, accordingly, block laying could forming taper vertical channel and rectangular vertical channel. The concrete of interlocking mortarless block has particularity, which is not suitable for “Mix Proportion Design of Ordinary Concrete Regulation” (JGJ55-2010) of China. This paper presents a platter idea to establish the concrete mix proportion design method of mortarless interlocking block, moreover, an example calculation and confirmatory experiment is dispensable.

According to the postulation on dense packing of aggregates, the paper discusses the dense packing method of various aggregates and its coefficients, and offers the mix proportion design method of concrete. The research results indicate that using method of the mix proportion design based on the theory on dense packing of aggregates, aggregates can play a maximum role, especially the micro-aggregate effect of the fly ash, then the compactness of concrete is raised effectively, the quantity of cement is reduced and the endurance of concrete is improved.

According to problems with the paste to aggregate ratio increases significantly and lack of recognition to cementitious materials effect of fly ash in current design method of fly ash concrete mix proportion, the paper introduces a new design method of fly ash concrete mix proportion that completely bases on the stable paste to aggregate ratio. The thoughts of parts of cement replaced by equal fly ash or by excessive fly ash in traditional method are not used in this method that starting from the stable paste to aggregate ratio directly, and using the connections of water-binder ratio and concrete strength to deduce the calculation formula of fly ash concrete mix proportion with method of absolute volume. The paper sums up the calculation steps of this new method, and combines with an example to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of this method.

Peridotite containing high crystal water is used as concrete aggregates in this research. The mineral composition and thermal stability of peridotite are experimentally analyzed, and the concrete mix proportion design is optimized. The neutron shielding performance of peridotite concrete specimens are tested using 241Am-Be neutron source. The transmission data of different thickness and different energy neutron are calculated. It concludes that peridotite concrete has a good performance in neutron shielding and peridotite is an excellent neutron shielding material.

This paper presents the results of an experimental and statistical study on the effect of high temperatures on the retained mechanical properties of high-strength concretes (HSC). The mechanical properties of HSC significantly change during and later than exposure to elevated temperature. The compressive and splitting tensile strength of more than 400 HSC cylindrical specimens with sixteen mix proportion have investigated to study the effect of mix proportion on the retained mechanical properties of HSC specimens after heating. According to these results, a considerable loss was observed for all mixes and specimens in strength particularly in tensile splitting strength. In addition, these experimental data were investigated using Taguchi approach to find the effective parameters of mix proportion. Also, the most optimum mix proportion was found and checked experimentally. According to our results, by controlling some factors in the mix proportion, it is possible to reduce the retained destructive effects of elevated temperature on HSC specimens.

In order to study cubic compressive strength of recycled coarse aggregates-filled concrete systematically, recycled coarse aggregates with the particle size from 50 to150mm are made from waste solid contents, which are artificially broken from abandoned rubble and concrete blocks. Based on the mix proportion design method of ordinary concrete and test code for hydraulic concrete, 3 groups of recycled coarse aggregates-filled concrete cubic specimens were prepared and the compressive strength of the specimens were tested. The results showed that basic failure pattern of recycled coarse aggregates-filled concrete are longitudinal splitting failure, and that cubic compressive strength is higher than that of self-compacting concrete.

The paper presents a new concept of ultra-filled by studying of classical aggregate filling theory. To resolve the problem involved in mix design with ultra-filled theory, a mix proportion design method of manufactured sand cement concrete is established. By calculation and test, the paper works out the rich plasma factor K1 and K2 of pavement manufactured cement concrete and the experimental result shows that the method is feasible and reasonable.
