We investigate the effect of CP violation in the leptonic sector. Due to the tiny neutrino masses its value is predicted to be very small and it is far beyond the experimental reach of the current experiments. Recently, the magic baseline experiment from CERN to INO (Indian Neutrino Observatory) with L = 7152 km has been proposed to get a sensitive limit on sin θ13. We show that due to such magic baseline neutrino beam, it is possible to observe CP violation in the neutrino sector upto several percent for the beam energy between 1–10 GeV.

The MINOS long-baseline experiment is using the NuMI neutrino beam to make precise measurements of neutrino flavor oscillations in the "atmospheric" neutrino sector. MINOS observes the νμ disappearance oscillations seen in atmospheric neutrinos, tests possible disappearance to sterile ν by measuring the neutral current flux, and extends our reach towards the so far unseen θ13 by looking for νe appearance in this νμ beam. The magnetized MINOS detectors also allow tests of CPT conservation by discriminating between neutrinos and anti-neutrinos on an event-by-event basis. The intense, well-understood NuMI neutrino beam created at Fermilab is observed 735 km away at the Soudan Mine in Northeast Minnesota. High-statistics studies of the neutrino interactions themselves and the cosmic rays seen by the MINOS detectors have also been made. MINOS started taking beam data in May 2005 and is now nearing the end of its five-year run. This paper reviews results published based on the first several years of data.

Future long baseline neutrino oscillation (LBL) setups are discussed and the remarkable potential for very precise measurements of mass splittings, mixing angles, MSW effects, the sign of Δm2 and leptonic CP violation is shown. Furthermore we discuss the sensitivity improvements which can be obatined by combining the planned JHF-Superkamiokande and the proposed NuMI off-axis experiment.

Abstract We propose simple scoto-seesaw models to account for dark matter and neutrino masses with spontaneous CP violation. This is achieved with a single horizontal $$ {\mathcal{Z}}_8 $$ Z 8 discrete symmetry, broken to a residual $$ {\mathcal{Z}}_2 $$ Z 2 subgroup responsible for stabilizing dark matter. CP is broken spontaneously via the complex vacuum expectation value of a scalar singlet, inducing leptonic CP-violating effects. We find that the imposed $$ {\mathcal{Z}}_8 $$ Z 8 symmetry pushes the values of the Dirac CP phase and the lightest neutrino mass to ranges already probed by ongoing experiments, so that normal-ordered neutrino masses can be cornered by cosmological observations and neutrinoless double beta decay experiments.

Within the left–right symmetric model (LRM) the [Formula: see text] boson decay into the channel [Formula: see text] are investigated. The branching ratios of this decay is found in the third order of the perturbation theory. The obtained expression does not equal to zero only at the existence of the neutrino mixings. This means that from the point of view of the LRM, the nonconservations of the neutral and the charged lepton flavors have the same nature. As a result, the elucidation of the decays [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text] could provide data concerned the neutrino sector structure of the LRM. The neutrino sector parameters which could be measured in that case are as follows: (i) difference of the heavy neutrino masses; (ii) heavy–heavy neutrino mixing; (iii) heavy–light neutrino mixing.

As the first topic, we propose a new parametrization of the complex Yukawa matrix in the scotogenic model. The new parametrization is compatible with the particle data group parametrization of the neutrino sector. Some analytical expressions for the neutrino masses with the new parametrization are shown. As the second topic, we consider the phenomenology of the scotogenic model with the one-zero-textures of the neutrino flavor mass matrix. One of the six patterns of the neutrino mass matrix is favorable for the real Yukawa matrix. On the other hand, for the complex Yukawa matrix, five of the six patterns are compatible with observations of the neutrino oscillations, dark matter relic abundance and branching ratio of the [Formula: see text] process.

We review a class of supersymmetric models in which the light neutrino masses result from higher-dimensional supersymmetry-breaking terms in the MSSM super- and Kähler-potentials. The mechanism used in these models is closely related to the Giudice–Masiero mechanism for the MSSM μ parameter and leads to TeV-scale right-handed neutrino and sneutrino states. In these models, the dominant contribution to the light neutrino (Majorana) mass matrix is a one-loop term with a sub-dominant tree-level "seesaw" contribution. It is also shown that it is possible to construct a natural model of TeV-scale leptogenesis via the resonant behavior of the one-loop self-energy contribution to the right-handed neutrino (Ni) decay. This model addresses the primary problems of previous phenomenological studies of low-energy leptogenesis: a rational for TeV-scale right-handed neutrinos with small Yukawa couplings; the origin of the tiny, but non-zero mass splitting required between at least two Ni masses; and the necessary non-trivial breaking of flavor symmetries in the right-handed neutrino sector.
