Ferroelectric Pb(ZrTi)O3 (PZT) nanotubes were prepared by sol–gel method and porous anodic alumina (PAA) membrane using spin-coating technique. This method is based on filling-pyrolysis-filling process and the use of one-stage alumina membranes. One of the advantages of this method is its rapidity, which takes only 1 h time before the calcination step. The effect of repeated pores filling was investigated to get the required size of nanotubes. The field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) images were shown that the PZT nanotubes have inner diameters in the range of 65–90 nm and length of about 50–60 [Formula: see text]m. This means that the samples have a significant aspect ratio (700–800). Also the FE-SEM image confirmed that the highly ordered, hexagonally distributed PAA membranes with the pore diameter about 140–150 nm were formed. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) results showed that the PZT nanotubes have a tetragonal structure. The metal oxide bands like ZrO6 and TiO6 of the final PZT nanotubes were detected by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) analysis and confirmed the formation of perovskite structure. By using FT-IR spectroscopy and Kramers–Kronig transformation method, the optical constants like real [Formula: see text]([Formula: see text]) and imaginary [Formula: see text]([Formula: see text]) parts of dielectric function, extinction coefficient k([Formula: see text]) and refractive index n([Formula: see text]) were determined. It was shown that the optical constants of PZT nanotubes are different from PZT nanoparticles.

The La0.75Sr0.25Cr0.5Mn0.5O3-δnanometer powders were prepared by citric acid sol-gel method. The samples were characterized by DTA, FT-IR, XRD, TEM techniques. The preparation process, morphology of synthesized powders, the best heat-treatment temperature and the electrochemical performance had been studied. The results show that the spherical nanometer powders can be obtained and the best heat-treatment temperature is 800°C. The particle size is about 30nm and Ea is 0.071 eV.

CuO interlayers in the CuO/p-Si Schottky diodes were fabricated by using CBD and sol-gel methods. Deposited CuO layers were characterized by SEM and XRD techniques. From the SEM images, it was seen that the film grown by CBD method is denser than the film grown by sol-gel method. This result is compatible with XRD results which show that the crystallization in CBD method is higher than it is in sol-gel method. For the electrical investigations, current-voltage characteristics of the diodes have been studied at room temperature. ConventionalI-Vand Norde’s methods were used in order to determine the ideality factor, barrier height, and series resistance values. It was seen that the morphological and structural analysis are compatible with the results of electrical investigations.

Zirconia (ZrO2) powders doped with cobalt were prepared by sol-gel method using inorganic salt of zirconium (IV) chloride (ZrCl4) as precursor. The amount of cobalt was varied in the range of 4–16% weight percent to study the effect to structural properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis suggested the resulting phases were zirconium oxide (Baddeleyite) with monoclinic crystal system along with cobalt oxide as secondary phase. The increasing cobalt content caused the XRD peaks to shift into lower angle due to substitution of Zr atom to smaller Co atom in crystal lattice. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images showed the samples with higher Co content had smoother surface. Generally, the microstructures of Co doped zirconia powders consisted of large agglomerates with small particles on the surface.

Mullite whiskers were prepared by sol-gel method. The preparing conditions, the morphology and crystallite phase of the mullite whiskers were studied by Thermal analysis, XRD and SEM. The results demonstrate that the uniform mullite whiskers with high aspect ratio were obtained in properly preparing conditions and appropriate amount of fluorides.

Calcium stones are most commonly occurring form of cholelithiasis or gallbladder stones most one of the oldest and common afflictions of humans. Calcium phosphate is dissolved minerals in causes of renal to gallbladder stone in both human and animals. Of course, the calcium phosphate is one of the components of gallbladder. Calcium phosphate doped with (Cu and Mg) are crystals are grown by sol-gel method. In the present work the growth and characterization of pure and doped with (Cu and Mg) crystals. The grown crystals were characterization by FT-IR, SEM-EDX and TG/DTA analysis.

Metal oxide nano-composites plays a very important role in many areas of chemistry, physics and material science. This paper explains the synthesis and comparison of zinc and zirconium doped TiO2 metal oxide nano-composites and their different properties. Here the sol-gel method is used to synthesis both the nano-composites. Nano-composites have been characterized with XRD, AFM, Zetasizer & potential and FT-IR studies. XRD study revealed good crystallinity with the size range of 30 nm – 45 nm for both nano-composites. AFM studies also revealed the same. FTIR study reports the characteristics peaks of synthesised nano-composites.
