High-T c cuprates of "Bi-2223" bulk doped with Cr 0≤ x≤ 0.10 were prepared by the conventional solid state reaction method. The samples were investigated by electrical resistivity, Hall effect, Nernst effect, ac susceptibility and thermopower measurements in mixed and normal states. The transport coefficients depend strongly on the Cr contents in the samples. The temperature dependence nH(T) and inverse Hall mobility [Formula: see text] show an anomaly at a temperature around 240 K. These anomalies are discussed in the framework of phase separation theory. The experimental data in the mixed state are in agreement with the predictions of the time-dependent Ginsburg–Landau theory.

In this paper, the rare earth cobaltite Nd0.80Sr0.20CoO3sample was prepared using conventional solid state reaction method. The dc magnetization, ac susceptibility, hysteresis loop of polycrystalline Nd0.80Sr0.20CoO3sample was carried out using the physical properties measurement system of Quantum Design. A dynamic analysis of ac susceptibility implies cluster glass transition temperatureTSG=72.06 K which occurs much higher by 25 K than that point at which the dc magnetization reaches a maximum. The cluster glass behavior of polycrystalline Nd0.80Sr0.20CoO3sample, which originates from the phase separation at low temperature, was systematically investigated in this paper. It was found that the sample has a small spontaneous magnetization and the weak frequency dependent peak so that we assume that the sample is cluster-glass.

Measurements of complex AC susceptibilityχ = χ + χas a function of temperature have been carried out on Sn-doped Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2(Ca1-xSnx)2Cu3Oδsuperconductor samples prepared via the conventional solid state reaction method. All the samples exhibit perfect diamagnetism below 109 K. Theχ (T)curves display two-step features, indicating the presence of mixed phases and therefore weakening of the grains' coupling. The amount of shielded volume in Sn-free samples is greater than that in Sn-doped samples. The intrinsic peak due to the small AC losses within the grain was not observed in theχ (T)curves for all samples. However, the coupling peak,TP, for Sn-free samples at an applied field of 1.0 Oe was observed at 89 K and shifted to a lower temperature ranging from 59 K to 64.2 K in Sn-doped samples. The amounts of hysteresis losses above theTPin all doped samples were smaller than that of the Sn-free sample. Therefore, the effect of Sn doping suppressed the inter-granular critical current,Jcm, and the presence of weak links that coupled the superconducting grains. Keywords: BSCCO, AC Losses, Sn-doped, Superconductor

Lead-free piezoelectric ceramics Sr2Bi4-xGdxTi5O18 were prepared by conventional solid-state reaction method. Pure bismuth layered structural ceramics with uniform gain size were obtained in all samples. The effect of Gd-doping on the dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of Sr2Bi4Ti5O18 ceramics were also investigated. It was found that that Gd3+ dopant gradually decreased the Curie temperature (Tc) with the lower dielectric loss (tand) of SBTi ceramics. In addition, Gd-doping with appropriate content improved the ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of the SBTi ceramics. The piezoelectric constant (d33) of the Sr2Bi3.9Gd0.1Ti5O18 ceramic reached the maximum value, which is 22 pC/N. The results showed that the Sr2Bi4-xGdxTi5O18 ceramic was a promising lead-free piezoelectric material.

Ce3+-doped 0.5La2O3-2SrO-0.5Al2O3 (LSA:Ce) phosphors had been successfully synthesized using a conventional solid-state reaction method under reducing atmosphere (H2/N2 =1/5). The phase, morphologies and luminescence properties of the LSA:Ce phosphors were investigated. The emission intensity of LSA:Ce phosphors was improved by the addition of SrF2 as flux, and red shift of PL spectra peak was observed in this phosphors. Research results shown that the LSA:Ce phosphors have the potential to meet the development of white light-emitting diodes.

MIn(WO4)2 (M = Li, Na, and K) with InO6 and WO6 octahedra were synthesized via a conventional solid-state reaction method. The photophysical and photocatalytic properties were studied. Compared with WO3, which is unable to evolve H2 from an aqueous CH3OH solution under illumination, the three materials can evolve H2 and O2 from aqueous solutions with CH3OH and AgNO3 sacrificial reagents, respectively. The activity order of photocatalytic H2 evolution is NaIn(WO4)2 > LiIn(WO4)2 > KIn(WO4)2 under irradiation (λ > 200 nm). Under irradiation (λ > 300 nm), however, LiIn(WO4)2 has a high activity for photocatalytic H2 evolution over NaIn(WO4)2. It is also noteworthy that LiIn(WO4)2 and NaIn(WO4)2 exhibit the ability to split pure water. The results suggest that the bottoms of the conduction bands in these photocatalysts are raised to meet the potential requirements of photocatalytic H2 evolution.

Microwave ceramics of Ba(Mg0.2/3Zn0.8/3Nb2/3)O3 and Ba1-xSrx(Mg0.2/3Zn0.8/3Nb2/3)O3 were synthesized with conventional solid-state reaction method. Dielectric properties of the samples were studied as functions of compositions and sintering temperatures. Experimental results show that a higher Q×f value is reached by substituting Zn ions with Mg ions and a near-zero temperature coefficient of resonant frequency is obtained by replacing Ba ions with Sr ions.

Multiferroic Bi1-xGdxFeO3(x=0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2) ceramics were prepared by conventional solid state reaction method. For all the samples prepared, they exhibit magnetoelectric effect at room temperature, and the dielectric constant and dielectric loss decrease with increasing frequency in the range from 10000Hz to 1 MHz from a typical orientational dielectric relaxation process. It has been found that both dielectric constant and dielectric loss are strongly dependent on the Gd3+ content. And substitution of Bi with rare earth Gd helps to eliminate the impurity phase in BiFeO3 ceramics.,
