In this paper, a novel heterostructure of 0D/3D-CdSe/Bi[Formula: see text]TiO[Formula: see text] pyramidal photocatalyst was synthesized and characterized. It exhibited significantly photocatalytic efficiency in photocatalytic degradation of the tetracycline than pure Bi[Formula: see text]TiO2 and CdSe and showed high stability. The enhanced photocatalytic activity might be attributed to the formation of heterostructure between CdSe QDs and 3D Bi[Formula: see text]TiO[Formula: see text], in which CdSe QDs served as electron trapper to improve the separation of photodegradation electron–hole pairs, and provided a number of active adsorption sites for the photogenerated of pollutants. The photocatalytic mechanism of 0D/3D-CdSe/Bi[Formula: see text]TiO[Formula: see text] pyramidal heterostructure was also proposed.

In this paper, two newly explored TiO2 photocatalyst sensitized with commercial stable pigment (BYH3G and PR254) were prepared and characterized by FT–IR, UV–Vis, XRD and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms. The adsorption capacities and the photocatalytic activities of as-prepared photocatalysts were evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of Methyl Orange and Rhodamine B under visible light irradiation. The as-prepared photocatalysts displayed high visible light photocatalytic activity than pure TiO2 under the same conditions. The photocatalytic activity can be reproduced commendably demonstrates that the as-prepared photocatalysts are stable and renewable, which are potentially important properties in the application of industrial wastewater treatment.

Novel visible-light responded aluminosilicophosphate-5 (SAPO-5)/g-C3N4 composite has been easily constructed by thermal polymerization for the mixture of SAPO-5, NH4Cl, and dicyandiamide. The photocatalytic activity of SAPO-5/g-C3N4 is evaluated by degrading RhB (30 mg/L) under visible light illumination (λ > 420 nm). The effects of SAPO-5 incorporation proportion and initial RhB concentration on the photocatalytic performance have been discussed in detail. The optimized SAPO-5/g-C3N4 composite shows promising degradation efficiency which is 40.6% higher than that of pure g-C3N4. The degradation rate improves from 0.007 min−1 to 0.022 min−1, which is a comparable photocatalytic performance compared with other g-C3N4-based heterojunctions for dye degradation. The migration of photo-induced electrons from g-C3N4 to the Al site of SAPO-5 should promote the photo-induced electron-hole pairs separation rate of g-C3N4 efficiently. Furthermore, the redox reactions for RhB degradation occur on the photo-induced holes in the g-C3N4 and Al sites in SAPO-5, respectively. This achievement not only improves the photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4 efficiently, but also broadens the application of SAPOs in the photocatalytic field.

A series of photocatalyst Bi1-xLaxVO4 (0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7) powders were prepared by hydrothermal method. The composition, structure, morphology and photocatalytic activity of the samples were researched by means of modern testing techniques. Bi1-xLaxVO4 showed excellent visible-light sensitivity and photocatalytic activities. The degradation rate of sample with x = 0.5 on rhodamine B reached 90 %, which was much higher than that of pure BiVO4.

Mo-titaniumdioxide (P25) photocatalyst with visible-light response was prepared with the ammonium molybdate for Mo source and titaniumdioxide for the raw materials by the method of dissolving and calcining. The photocatalysts’ structure was characterized by XRD, XPS, and UV-Vis absorption spectrum and TEM. The photocatalytic activities of Mo-titaniumdioxide were measured by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible-light irradiation. The results showed that Mo characteristic peaks appeared at the point of 235.45 eV, 234.2 eV, 232.3 eV, and 231.1 eV. In Mo-titaniumdioxide crystal lattice, Mo6+had the highest percentage (about 84.08%), indicating that Mo element was inserted into titaniumdioxide crystal lattice and considerable amount of Mo dopant was in the 6+ valence state, which restrained the recombination of electron-hole and had the visible-light photocatalytic activity. Photocatalytic degradation study indicated that the samples prepared at calcination temperature of 500°C were used to degrade MB; after 3 h, the degradation reached up to 80.67%.
