Production of novel organic semiconductor nanomaterials is essential for enabling the development of personal, portable and flexible electronic modules. This work presents Ni(II)-Schiff base complexes with enhanced Seebeck coefficient and weak ferromagnetic ordering for thermoelectric and magnetic devices. Four Ni(II)-Schiff base complexes (namely [Ni(C[Formula: see text]H[Formula: see text]N3O4Br)][Formula: see text]2H2O, [Ni(C[Formula: see text]H[Formula: see text]N3O[Formula: see text]][Formula: see text]2H2O, [Ni(C[Formula: see text]H[Formula: see text]N5O8Br)] and [Ni(C[Formula: see text]H[Formula: see text]N5O[Formula: see text]][Formula: see text]H2O) have been synthesized in nanosized dimensions. The electrical and thermoelectric properties have been studied, and comprehensive discussions have been presented to understand the electrical conduction mechanisms. The electrical conductivity measurements reveal that the conduction is due to the charge carriers hoping between the atomic sites of the same energy levels in the molecule as well as the transfer of the charge carriers between the neighboring complex molecules due to overlapping of their orbitals. The thermoelectric measurement confirms that the nanocomplexes (NCs) are non-degenerate P-type semiconductors with enhanced Seebeck coefficient values compared with those reported for other organic materials. The NCs exhibit antiferromagnetic to paramagnetic transitions with the increase of temperature and weak ferromagnetic ordering at 300[Formula: see text]K.

Abstract This article aimed at the synthesis and molecular docking assessment of new diimine Schiff base ligand, namely 2-((E)-(2-((Z)-2-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-hydroxyvinyl)hydrazono) methyl)-6-methoxyphenol (methoxy-diim), via the condensation of 1-(4-chloro-phenyl)-2-hydrazino-ethenol compound with 2-((E)-(2-((Z)-2-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-hydroxy vinyl) hydrazono)methyl)-6-methoxyphenol in acetic acid as well as the preparation of new binuclear complexes of Co(ii), Ni(ii), Cu(ii), and Zn(ii). The following synthesized complexes were prepared in a ratio of 2:1 (metal/ligand). The 1H-NMR, UV-Vis, and FTIR spectroscopic data; molar conductivity measurements; and microanalytical, XRD, TGA/DTG, and biological studies were carried out to determine the molecular structure of these complexes. According to the spectroscopic analysis, the two central metal ions were coordinated with the diamine ligand via the nitrogen of the hydrazine and oxygen of the hydroxyl groups for the first metal ions and via the nitrogen of the hydrazine and oxygen of the phenol group for the second metal ions. Molecular docking for the free ligand was carried out against the breast cancer 3hb5-oxidoreductase and the 4o1v-protein binding kidney cancer and COVID-19 protease, and good results were obtained.

In this study, polymer solar cells were synthesized by adding Sb2S3 nanocrystals (NCs) to thin blended films with polymer poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric-acid-methyl-ester (PCBM) as the p-type material prepared via the spin-coating method. The purpose of this study is to investigate the dependence of polymer solar cells’ performance on the concentration of Sb2S3 nanocrystals. The effect of the Sb2S3 nanocrystal concentrations (0.01, 0.02, 0.03, and 0.04 mg/mL) in the polymer’s active layer was determined using different characterization techniques. X-ray diffraction (XRD) displayed doped ratio dependences of P3HT crystallite orientations of P3HT crystallites inside a block polymer film. Introducing Sb2S3 NCs increased the light harvesting and regulated the energy levels, improving the electronic parameters. Considerable photoluminescence quenching was observed due to additional excited electron pathways through the Sb2S3 NCs. A UV–visible absorption spectra measurement showed the relationship between the optoelectronic properties and improved surface morphology, and this enhancement was detected by a red shift in the absorption spectrum. The absorber layer’s doping concentration played a definitive role in improving the device’s performance. Using a 0.04 mg/mL doping concentration, a solar cell device with a glass /ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT-PCBM: Sb2S3:NC/MoO3/Ag structure achieved a maximum power conversion efficiency of 2.72%. These Sb2S3 NCs obtained by solvothermal fabrication blended with a P3HT: PCBM polymer, would pave the way for a more effective design of organic photovoltaic devices.
