The author discusses the benefits of curriculum alignment and the development of a new database system called e-CMS (electronic curriculum mapping system) for organizing curriculum alignment initiatives. Fundamental to the systematic organization of curriculum is understanding the interplay between three alignment factors present in all courses: assessments, TLAs (teaching and learning activities), and objectives, also known as the triadic model of alignment. Also important to this process is the inclusion of external alignment factors, such as cognitive level, professional skills, and the core concepts of physiology. When organized properly, alignment of internal and external factors provides a common language for discussing and comparing courses across departments and institutions. Databases such as e-CMS not only help organize curriculum, but also offer almost unlimited ways to combine, analyze, and share resultant data. This could provide value to students and their future employers by communicating with confidence the evidence-based knowledge, skills, and abilities gained in a course or program. The next phase of the alignment initiative that produced e-CMS is to develop a distributed online database for housing and sharing aligned assessments.

In 2011, we published a description of 15 core concepts of physiology, and in 2017 we described how core concepts could be used to teach physiology. On the basis of publications and conference presentations, it is clear that the core concepts, conceptual frameworks, and the homeostasis concept inventory have been used by faculty in many ways to improve and assess student learning and align instruction and programs. A growing number of colleagues focus their teaching on physiology core concepts, and some core concepts have been used as explicit themes or organizing principles in physiology or anatomy and physiology textbooks. The core concepts published in 2011 were derived from inputs from a diverse group of physiology instructors and articulated what this group of instructors expressed a decade ago. On the basis of current feedback from the physiology teaching community as a consequence of the use of core concepts in teaching and learning, we have revisited these concepts and made revisions to address issues that have emerged. In this article, we offer revised definitions and explanations of the core concepts, propose an additional core concept (“physical properties of matter” which combines two previous concepts), and describe three broad categories for the revised core concepts. Finally, we catalog published resources for each of the core concepts that provide instructors tools to focus facilitation of student learning on goals (learning outcomes), activities and assessments to enable students to develop and apply their understanding of the core concepts of physiology.

The act of instruction may be conceptualized as consisting of four elements: learning outcomes, learning resources, teaching and learning activities, and assessments and evaluation. For instructors in higher education, the way they manage the relationships between these elements is what could be considered the core of their instructional practice. For each of the elements, this paper seeks to identify open educational practices, their affordances, and evidence of their utility in supporting the work of teachers in shifting from existing teaching and learning practices to more open educational practices. The literature reviewed and model proposed may provide educational developers or proponents of open education a lens with which to discuss open educational practices with faculty specifically related to their teaching and learning design practices.

In the discussion of special service administration generally involves what is needed in the service provide special services or a business that is not directly related to the teaching and learning process in the classroom. But specifically given by the school to the students so that they are more optimal in implementing the learning process. Among these special services is the UKS canteen library and labor which would be very supportive of the process of teaching and learning activities for students in the world of education, so as to produce education graduates who are sensitive to services to the needs that involve the core of a learning, for that learning administration Special services in this article will be very helpful in the process of knowing what special education services are

Sustaining students motivation during teaching and learning process, unquestionably, is considered as the most challenging task. Therefore, the teachers have to be mindful and creative in designing an activity as it is the core of the lesson. However, in practice, some teachers are sometimes found to aimlessly use an activity as they run out of idea. Thus, this study is conducted to serve as a reference for the teachers in designing a specific activity that helps the students stay motivated. A descriptive qualitative was employed as the research design to gain deeper analysis on types of activity that encourage the students to learn English. The data were collected through interview which involved 5 professional English teachers as participants. The result revealed that the design of the activity should be appealing and correspond to the students interest, age, level of proficiency, school policy, materials and media availability. Thus, it is suggested that the teachers should be brave to try out new activity and attend some teachers training, such as CELTA or DELTA, to improve their teaching skills.

The model is part of a learning structure that has a scope large. Inside there are approaches, strategies, methods, and techniques. One of an important aspect of a learning model is syntax, which is standard steps that must be taken in implementing the model. This syntax should be reflected in the steps of learning in particular detailed in the core learning activities. The results achieved in this activity are the teacher has the ability to develop scenarios or core steps active learning that uses certain learning models through the use of supporting media in teaching and learning activities

The roles of teachers in the classroom include ensuring that learning objectives are met when teaching and learning activities are implemented. Technology allows teachers to achieve their teaching goals, as well as support and enable students to engage in any teacher-planned activity actively. Many studies have identified factors that influence teachers to integrate technology into the classroom. Therefore, this study reviewed the literature on factors that influence the formation of teacher professional identity in integrating technology into teaching and learning. Several databases were searched to find relevant, accessible literature published between 2016 and 2019. The study found that internal and external factors, specifically, individual, technology and environmental factors, do influence the formation of teacher professional identity. This study also discusses the challenges faced by teachers in using technology in the classroom. It is hoped that this study will help researchers understand the factors that influence the formation of professional identity and the challenges encountered by teachers. These factors must be identified to ensure that technology integration can be effectively implemented for students in pursuing education in the 21st century.
