Novel Schiff bases and their metal complexes were derived from some hetero cyclicβ-diketones with 4-phenyl-2-aminothiazole. All the synthesized compounds were confirmed their structure by Elemental analysis, FT-IR,1H NMR,13C NMR, Mass spectra, TGA analysis and UV spectra. All the compounds were tested for their antibacterial activity. Spectroscopic measurements suggest that all Schiff base metal complexes are of type ML2.(H2O)2(M=Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and Cu) and all the metal complexes shows moderate antibacterial activity in the agar cup assay method.

4-Acyl-1-phenyl-3-methyl-2-pyrazolin-5-ones condensed with 2-amino-4(4'-methylphenyl)-thiazole to form Schiff base. These Schiff bases from complexes of type ML22H2O (M=Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and Cu). Elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, electrical conductance, electronic and Infrared spectral data suggested octahedral structure for the complexes. All the compounds were tested for their antibacterial activity. The result indicates that the growth of the tested organism was inhibited by most of the compounds. These Schiff bases are characterized by elemental analysis, mass spectra,1H-NMR spectra,13C NMR spectra and FT IR spectra.

A novel and efficient route have been designed for the synthesis of 4-(5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)-2-phenyl-5-[2-phenylvinyl]-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one. All the synthesized compound were characterized by elemental analysis, IR,1H NMR,13C NMR and mass spectra. All the synthesized products were evaluated for their antibacterial activity againstB. SubtilisandE.Coliand antifungal activity againstA. nigerandC.Albicanrespectively. The results indicate that the present compounds may serve as better fungicides when compared to bactericides. The synthesized compounds have turned to be wonder by possessing antimicrobial properties.

Many naturally occurring and synthetic compounds containing dihydrocyanopyridine and cyanopyran moiety show pharmacological properties. The aim of this study is to investigate the larvicidal and antioxidant potential of dihydrophenanthroline-3-carbonitrile derivatives4a–f. A novel series of 2-amino-10-chloro-4,12-diphenyl-1,4,5,6-tetrahydrobenzo[j][1,7]phenanthroline-3-carbonitrile derivatives were synthesized by reacting different substituted acridine chalcones through Michel addition. The compounds were synthesized in excellent yields and the structures were corroborated on the basis of FT-IR,1H NMR,13C NMR, and ESI Mass analysis data. All the synthesized compounds were evaluated for larvicidal activity againstAedes aegyptiandCulex quinquefasciatuslarvae. Furthermore, the antioxidant activity was studied by the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay method. From the antioxidant assay, the compound4cwas reported with profound antioxidant potential.

Novel series of diversely substituted acetyl pyrazoline having biphenyl carbonitrile motif have been synthesized. The reaction of 2-cyno-4’-bromomethyl biphenyl with1-(4-hydroxy-phenyl)-ethanone resulted in acetophenone derivative of biphenyl-2-carbonitrile. This acetophenone derivative was condensed with substituted aromatic aldehyde in mixed solvent resulted in various substituted chalcones. These chalcones were further cyclized using hydrazine hydrate in presence of glacial acetic acid to produce titled compound derivatives. The chemical structures of synthesized compounds were elucidated by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR FT-IR and mass spectra. Synthesized compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity by broth dilution method. Out of twelve newly synthesized compounds, eight compounds are found to be equipotent to Ampicillin.

Abstract Novel (E)-4-((5-bromo-2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)amino)-N-(pyridin-2-yl)benzenesulfonamide 1, (E)-4-((5-bromo-2-(3,4-dicyanophenoxy)-3-methoxybenzylidene)amino)-N-(pyridin-2-yl)benzene sulfonamide 2 and 2(3),9(10),16(17),23(24)-tetra-[(E)-4-((5-bromo-3-methoxy-2-(λ1-oxidanyl)benzyl idene)amino)-N-(pyridine-2-yl)benzenesulfonamide]phthalocyaninato zinc(II) phthalocyanine 3 were synthesized. Their (1-3) structures were illuminated with spectroscopic methods such as FT-IR, 1H NMR,13C NMR, UV–vis, MALDI-TOF mass spectra and also elemental analysis. The spectroscopic, photophysical and photochemical properties of the zinc(II) phthalocyanine 3 were investigated in dimethyl sulfoxide and its effects on the above mentioned properties were reported as a result of containing new type benzenesulfonamide derivatives as substituents. In addition, its above-mentioned properties were reported by comparing different species with those of their substituted and/or unsubstituted counterparts. The zinc(II) phthalocyanine 3 has photosensitizing abilities suitable and sufficient especially for photocatalytic applications.

Metal complexes of a Schiff base ligand derived from cefotaxime and salicylaldehyde were prepared. The salicilydene-cefotaxime ligand (H2L) and mononuclear [M(L)] (M(II) = Co, Ni and Cu), dinuclear [Ag2(L)(OAc)2], and tetranuclear metal complexes [M4(L)(OH)6] (M(II) = Ni, Cu) were characterized on the basis of analytical, thermal, magnetic, and spectral studies (IR, UV-visible, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and EPR). The electronic spectra of the complexes and their magnetic moments suggesttetrahedral geometry for the isolated complexes. The complexes are nonelectrolytes and insoluble in water and common organic solvents but soluble in DMSO.

Abstract A green chemistry approach has been adopted for the synthesis of thirty-four new picolinium-based ionic liquids using microwave (MW) and ultrasound (US) irradiation as well as conventional thermal heating. Their structures were confirmed by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 11B NMR, 19F NMR, 31P NMR, mass spectra and elemental analyses. The antimicrobial profile of the novel ionic liquids was evaluated and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) showed their moderate to low antimicrobial activity against eight types of human pathogens.

New synthesis of pyrido[3,4-e]-1,3-thiazines consisting in reaction of 2,6-dimethyl-4-chloronicotinoyl isothiocyanate with primary or secondary amines, or with benzaldehyde phenylhydrazone, is described. High reactivity of the chlorine atom does not allow isolation of the corresponding thioureas, arising as intermediates, except in the case of the benzylamino derivative. Structure of the products was unequivocally confirmed by their spectral data (IR, UV, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectra). The synthesized derivatives do not undergo the Dimroth rearrangement.

From S. nemorensis L., var. subdecurrens GRISEB. there were isolated the previously obtained alkaloids nemorensine (I), retroisosenine (II), bulgarsenine (III) and, in addition, the alkaloid oxynemorensine which was assigned the structure VIII on the basis of the interpretation of the 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, mass spectra, and on that of the identification of the products of hydrolysis and reduction. Furthermore, the isolation of the cis-nemorensic acid (V) as well as that of the unsaturated acid IV, and the transformation of bulgarsenine (III) to nemorensine (I) were described.
