Often decay channels that are of theoretical interest cannot be reconstructed exclusively due to missing neutrals (such as neutrinos), or due to single-track vertices. This situation appears both in underground astrophysics experiments as well as in conventional accelerator experiments. A method to “recover” such missing particles from their kinematics and reconstruct “exclusively” the modes would benefit both domains in a number of ways. The main idea is to combine 4-momentum conservations in vertices with available geometric information in the event. The paper gives details of such methods on theBs0→Ds−K+,Ds−→K+K−π−(π0)prototype decay, which also encounters 2-fold ambiguities in its solutions. Such ambiguities can be lifted and the paper shows how, while also addressing the potential the method has in physics analyses and detector studies.

The visual systems of many mammals, including humans, are able to integrate the geometric information of visual stimuli and perform cognitive tasks at the first stages of the cortical processing. This is thought to be the result of a combination of mechanisms, which include feature extraction at the single cell level and geometric processing by means of cell connectivity. We present a geometric model of such connectivities in the space of detected features associated with spatiotemporal visual stimuli and show how they can be used to obtain low-level object segmentation. The main idea is to define a spectral clustering procedure with anisotropic affinities over data sets consisting of embeddings of the visual stimuli into higher-dimensional spaces. Neural plausibility of the proposed arguments will be discussed.

In this paper a new and very efficient algorithm to compute the inverse kinematics of a general 6R serial kinematic chain is presented. The main idea is to make use of classical multidimensional geometry to structure the problem and to use the geometric information before starting the elimination process. For the geometric preprocessing we use the Study model of Euclidean displacements, sometimes called kinematic image, which identifies a displacement with a point on a six dimensional quadric S62 in seven dimensional projective space P7. The 6R chain is broken up in the middle to form two open 3R chains. The kinematic image of a 3R chain turns out to be a Segre-manifold consisting of a one parameter set of 3-spaces. The intersection of two Segre-manifolds and S62 yields 16 points which are the kinematic images representing the 16 solutions of the inverse kinematics. Algebraically this procedure means that we have to solve a system of seven linear equations and one resultant to arrive at the univariate 16 degree polynomial. From this step in the algorithm we get two out of the six joint angles and the remaining 4 angles are obtained straight forward by solving the inverse kinematics of two 2R chains.

Several Representations and Coding schemes have been proposed to represent efficiently 2D triangulations. In this paper, we propose a new practical approach to reduce the main memory space needed to represent an arbitrary triangulation, while maintaining constant time for some basic queries. This work focuses on the connectivity information of the triangulation, rather than the geometric information (vertex coordinates), since the combinatorial data represents the main part of the storage. The main idea is to gather triangles into patches, to reduce the number of pointers by eliminating the internal pointers in the patches and reducing the multiple references to vertices. To accomplish this, we define and use stable catalogs of patches that are closed under basic standard update operations such as insertion and deletion of vertices, and edge flips. We present some bounds and results concerning special catalogs, and some experimental results that exhibit the practical gain of such methods.

The shape of the emitter is of cardinal importance to field-ion microscopy. First, the field evaporation process itself is closely related to the initial tip shape. Secondly, the imaging stress, which is near the theoretical strength of the material and intrinsic to the imaging process, cannot be characterized without knowledge of the emitter shape. Finally, the problem of obtaining quantitative geometric information from the micrograph cannot be solved without knowing the shape. Previously published grain-boundary topographies were obtained employing an assumption of a spherical shape (1). The present investigation shows that the true shape deviates as much as 100 Å from sphericity and boundary reconstructions contain considerable error as a result. Our present procedures for obtaining tip shape may be summarized as follows. An empirical projection, D=f(θ), is obtained by digitizing the positions of poles on a field-ion micrograph.

The article discusses the method of solving the task 18 on the Unified State Examination in Informatics (Russian EGE). The main idea of the method is to write the conditions of the problem utilizing the language of formal logic, using elementary predicates. According to the laws of logic the resulting complex logical expression would be transformed into an expression, according to which a geometric model is supposed to be constructed which allows to obtain an answer. The described algorithm does allow high complexity problem to be converted into a simple one.

The appeals to minimize state intervention in the Russian economy are counterproductive. However the excessive involvement of the state is fraught with the threat of building nomenclature capitalism. That is the main idea of the series of articles by prominent representatives of Russian economic thought who formulate their position on key elements of the long-term strategy of Russia’s development. The articles deal with such important issues as Russia’s economic policy, transition to knowledge-based economy, basic directions of monetary and structural policies, strengthening of property rights, development of human potential, foreign economic priorities of our state.

Reading is one of the important aspects in the communication process. Reading can make someone better understand the contents of the reading. In learning to make it easier for students to understand the contents of the reading it will be easier if it begins with the ability to determine the main ideas of the paragraph. Based on this, the researcher conducted a study by applying the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model to the ability to determine the main idea of the paragraph at the fifth grade students of SD 003 Pulau Kopung. This study aims to determine the effect of the CIRC learning model on the ability to determine the main ideas of paragraphs of fifth grade students of SD Negeri 003 Pulau Kopung. This research method is a quasi- experimental Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This research was conducted in two classes, the VA class as the control class and VB class as the experimental class with 22 students in each class. The results of the study showed that the CIRC learning model influenced the ability to determine paragraph main ideas with the results of calculations derived from the gain index, the experimental class using the CIRC learning model got an increase in gain of 0.59 with the middle class and the control class with the normal learning model got an increase of 0.31 with medium class.
