Abstract The application of the Monte Carlo method to solving the problem of identifying and assessing the protection against DDoS attacks of weak nodes is considered. The field of research is of practical and theoretical interest, since the methods developed by the classical theory of reliability are focused on simple, stationary flows. Under the conditions of DDoS attacks, the flow of attacking requests is not stationary, so the known analytical models give an unacceptable error. For the reliability of the results, the freedom to choose the distribution function, the moments of arrival of the attacking requests, their duration and the response of the attacked node is required. The method is applicable for modelling a computer network when organizing an information security audit.

Agri-food export and its development are an important area of economic policy in our country. In recent years, its dynamics have been impressive. In this regard, the main factors providing its positive dynamics are of interest. It is also important to assess the impact of the pandemic shock, including changes in migration processes, as well as export restrictions that were introduced in 2020. They remain in effect in the current period. How these factors can affect in the short and long term and what alternative solutions exist is of practical and theoretical interest.

AbstractBrouwer’s solution to the artificial satellite problem is revisited. We show that the complete Hamiltonian reduction is rather achieved in the plain Poincaré’s style, through a single canonical transformation, than using a sequence of partial reductions based on von Zeipel’s alternative for dealing with perturbed degenerate Hamiltonian systems. Beyond the theoretical interest of the new approach as regards the complete reduction of perturbed Keplerian motion, we also show that a solution based on a single set of corrections may yield computational benefits in the implementation of an analytic orbit propagator.

Despite the fact that until now we do not know the true causative agent of typhus infection, in the literature there are a number of observations concerning immunity reactions in the serum of typhus patients, observations that, bringing us closer to solving the question of the causative agent of typhus, do not are only of theoretical interest, but even now they can be practically used at the patient's bedside.

AbstractStatistical models associated with graphs, called graphical models, have become a popular tool for representing network structures in many modern applications. Relevant features of the model are represented by vertices, edges and other higher order structures. A fundamental structural component of the network is represented by paths, which are a sequence of distinct vertices joined by a sequence of edges. The collection of all the paths joining two vertices provides a full description of the association structure between the corresponding variables. In this context, it has been shown that certain pairwise association measures can be decomposed into a sum of weights associated with each of the paths connecting the two variables. We consider a pairwise measure called an inflated correlation coefficient and investigate the properties of the corresponding path weights. We show that every inflated correlation weight can be factorized into terms, each of which is associated either to a vertex or to an edge of the path. This factorization allows one to gain insight into the role played by a path in the network by highlighting the contribution to the weight of each of the elementary units forming the path. This is of theoretical interest because, by establishing a similarity between the weights and the association measure they decompose, it provides a justification for the use of these weights. Furthermore we show how this factorization can be exploited in the computation of centrality measures and describe their use with an application to the analysis of a dietary pattern.

This article offers a reading of Jean-Paul Sartre’s phenomenology in light of Jean-Luc Marion’s more recent phenomenology. It may seem odd to compare Sartre to Marion, given that Sartre is well-known for his avowed atheism and his account of intentionality while Marion is primarily known for his work on religious phenomena and counter-intentionality. However, this article shows that there are many ways in which Sartre anticipates Marion’s work on phenomenological reduction and excessive phenomenality. By reading Sartre’s phenomenology in light of Marion’s, and particularly Sartre’s analysis of the viscous slime in Being and Nothingness in relation to Marion’s account of ‘saturated phenomena’, this article presents a fresh interpretation of Sartre as a phenomenologist who has invaluable insights not only on the structures of consciousness and phenomenality, but also for the contemporary theoretical interest in the relationship between human and nonhuman entities.

Introduction. The problem of studying the educational efforts of the first enlighteners of the Russian Land is of relevance, theoretical interest and practical value for teachers in terms of forming spiritual and moral values among the younger generation, familiarizing young people with remarkable examples of selfless activity of the founders of education in the enlightenment of their people. The purpose of the study is to characterize the main directions of educational efforts of Stefan Permsky and Trifon Vyatsky. Materials and methods. To achieve the aim of the research the author used the following scientific methods: analysis of the historical literature, scientific and pedagogical interpretation of the information contained in the sources; comparative and historical methods; axiological approach, which allows to identify the positive content in the scientific material to be studied. The results of the study. The historical importance of the invention of the first alphabet by Stefan Permsky for the Komi people is proved. Its use in the course of church services represented the first attempt to educate and, at the same time, convert this northern people to Christianity, and contributed to the spread of literacy and Orthodoxy in the Vyatka-Kama region as a whole. Tryphon Vyatsky is shown as the builder of Orthodox churches, which became, at his command, a repository of books and written documents, and this, in turn, stimulated the initial development of the letter "on Vyatka". Tryphon Vyatsky contributed to the spread of book literacy and moral development, first of local priests, and then of the entire population of the region. He showed himself as a strict zealot of Orthodox morality, who fought against the spread of bad habits. Both enlighteners are shown as spiritual mentors and guardians of order and morality. Their educational activities laid the foundation for the further development of education in the Vyatka-Kama region. Conclusion. The initial stage of the development of education in the region under consideration was carried out thanks to the ascetic efforts of the first educators, whose example up to the present time serves as a moral guide for the modern generation of teachers of the Vyatka-Kama Region.

At first glance, radio may seem to be an example of dated technology, overturned by other, more contemporary media. However, the beginning of the 21st century brought an upsurge of radio-related artworks alongside an increased theoretical interest around the broader topic of sound in culture – in response to W. J. T Mitchell’s ‘pictorial turn,’ the ‘sonic turn’ was introduced in 2004 by Jim Drobnick. In this article, I specifically focus on radio as a tool used in visual arts on the example of works by artistic/curatorial collective Radio Earth Hold, observed through the lens of ‘transmission arts’ – a term coined at the end of the 1990s, which recognizes the issue of transmission as political at its core. REH’s works render apparent the potential of the radio voice to become authoritarian as well as to create an intimate experience of listening. By building upon the idea of ‘sonic solidarity’ REH touches upon political topics in a way that can profoundly challenge our thinking and encourage us to reexamine not only the role of radio but also the transmission and communication in or via art – which perhaps could be understood as a way towards the possible sonic turn.

The introductory chapter situates the civil rights movement within the political theory literatures on civil disobedience—old and new—and traces the way that the debate has shifted since the mid-century (from a decidedly liberal framework to various democratic ones) as well as broadened (bringing attention to new movements and forms of action). Despite the important insights generated out of these shifts, the civil rights example remains at once central and marginal—operating as a key proving ground for the political purchase of liberal and deliberative theories but also attesting to their limits, without making the movement itself the subject of sustained analysis or theoretical interest. In contrast, drawing on—but also departing from—the insights of the critical historiography of the “long civil rights movement,” the introduction presents the case for returning to the civil rights movement as a site of (and source for) political theorizing about civil disobedience.

A class of bivariate infinite series solutions of the elliptic and hyperbolic Kepler equations is described, adding to the handful of 1-D series that have been found throughout the centuries. This result is based on an iterative procedure for the analytical computation of all the higher-order partial derivatives of the eccentric anomaly with respect to the eccentricity e and mean anomaly M in a given base point (ec,Mc) of the (e,M) plane. Explicit examples of such bivariate infinite series are provided, corresponding to different choices of (ec,Mc), and their convergence is studied numerically. In particular, the polynomials that are obtained by truncating the infinite series up to the fifth degree reach high levels of accuracy in significantly large regions of the parameter space (e,M). Besides their theoretical interest, these series can be used for designing 2-D spline numerical algorithms for efficiently solving Kepler’s equations for all values of the eccentricity and mean anomaly.
