A new kind of UV-responsive film with quantum dots (QDs) fabricated by a spin-coating method is proposed in this paper. In a previous study, the monolayer QDs film is deposited onto fused silica slides by the spin-coating way, which has some luminous problem. The introduction of composite QDs coating which adds PEDOT:PSS and poly-TPD films to the monolayer QDs film is found to have excellent performance. The reason can be that PEDOT:PSS and poly-TPD weaken the scattering and enhance the emitting of quantum dot fluorescence. The intensity of photoluminescence (PL) for composite QDs coating is dozens of times stronger than that for monolayer QDs film. Experiment results show that this composite coating has excellent fluorescent properties and emits a blue purple glow together a wide excitation spectrum field from 190 nm to 300 nm. The spectrum of the composite coating matches accurately with the detected zone of CCD, which achieves an outstanding UV-responsive coating for conventional silicon-based image sensors.

New approaches to enhance properties of silicon based quantum dot heterostructures for optical device application were developed. That is strain driven heteroepitaxy, small-sized quantum dots, elemental compositions of the heterointerface, virtual substrate, plasmonic effects, and the quantum dot charging occupation with holes in epitaxially grown Ge quantum dots (QDs) on Si (100). Experiments have shown extraordinary optical properties of Ge/Si QDs heterostructures and mid-infrared quantum dot photodetectors performance.

Nanocrystalline ZnO and Zn2TiO4 porous film electrodes were prepared by sol-gel method and spin coating method, and the nanocrystalline porous films were characterized by XRD and SEM. Using ZnPc dye and PbS quantum dots as sensitizers. The nanocrystalline film electrodes of ZnO series and Zn2TiO4 series were prepared separately, and their absorption characteristics observed by UV-vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that ZnPc dye and PbS quantum dots could well sensitize the film electrodes, and the effect of ZnPc dye and PbS quantum dots composite sensitization was optimal. Then, the solar cells were fabricated. In simulation sunlight, the overall photoelectric conversion efficiency by Zn2TiO4/Q-PbS/ZnPc electrode increased by 22%, relative to the ZnO/Q-PbS/ZnPc electrode’s.

The present study reports the fabrication of CdSe quantum dot (QD)-sensitized photocathodes on NiO-coated indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes and their H2-generating ability upon light irradiation. A well-established spin-coating method was used to deposit CdSe QD stock solution onto the surface of NiO/ITO electrodes, thereby leading to the construction of various CdSe QD-sensitized photocathodes. The present report includes the construction of rainbow photocathodes by spin-coating different-sized QDs in a sequentially layered manner, thereby creating an energetically favorable gradient for charge separation. The resulting rainbow photocathodes with forward energetic gradient for charge separation and subsequent electron transfer to a solution-based hydrogen-evolving catalyst (HEC) exhibit good light-harvesting ability and enhanced photoresponses compared with the reverse rainbow photocathodes under white LED light illumination. Under minimally optimized conditions, a photocurrent density of as high as 115 μA⋅cm−2 and a Faradaic efficiency of 99.5% are achieved, which is among the most effective QD-based photocathode water-splitting systems.

Abstract Four kinds of aviation liquid lubricants (i.e., 4010#, 4050#, 4106#, and 4109# oils) were homogeneously coated on the graphene/MoS2 composite coating through a spin-coating method to form the solid–liquid lubricating combinations. The tribological properties of the obtained solid–liquid combinations and pure graphene/MoS2 coating were investigated experimentally. Effects of the liquid lubricant type on the friction and wear behaviors of the solid–liquid combinations and pure graphene/MoS2 coating were studied at different applied loads and rotational speeds. Within the ranges of the applied load varying from 10 to 50 N and rotational speed varying from 750 to 1500 rpm, the presence of the above-mentioned liquid lubricants significantly reduces the friction coefficient of the pure graphene/MoS2 coating, and the reduction rate is as high as 24%. Additionally, the coating-4109# combination has the best synergistic effect under the above operation condition.
