We expose the chaotic attractors of time-reversed nonlinear system, further implement its behavior on electronic circuit, and apply the pragmatical asymptotically stability theory to strictly prove that the adaptive synchronization of given master and slave systems with uncertain parameters can be achieved. In this paper, the variety chaotic motions of time-reversed Lorentz system are investigated through Lyapunov exponents, phase portraits, and bifurcation diagrams. For further applying the complex signal in secure communication and file encryption, we construct the circuit to show the similar chaotic signal of time-reversed Lorentz system. In addition, pragmatical asymptotically stability theorem and an assumption of equal probability for ergodic initial conditions (Ge et al., 1999, Ge and Yu, 2000, and Matsushima, 1972) are proposed to strictly prove that adaptive control can be accomplished successfully. The current scheme of adaptive control—by traditional Lyapunov stability theorem and Barbalat lemma, which are used to prove the error vector—approaches zero, as time approaches infinity. However, the core question—why the estimated or given parameters also approach to the uncertain parameters—remains without answer. By the new stability theory, those estimated parameters can be proved approaching the uncertain values strictly, and the simulation results are shown in this paper.

This paper studies the adaptive synchronization and parameter identification of an uncertain hyperchaotic Chen system. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, an adaptive control law is derived to make the states of two identical hyperchaotic Chen systems asymptotically synchronized. With this approach, the synchronization and parameter identification of the hyperchaotic Chen system with five uncertain parameters can be achieved simultaneously. Theoretical proof and numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed scheme.

An adaptive controller with adaptive rate is presented to synchronize two chaos systems and to apply to secure communication. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, a sufficient condition and adaptive control parameters are obtained. Finally, the simulation with synchronization and secure communication is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. Keywords: adaptive; synchronization; observer; controller.

We propose a new mathematical model of the TNC oscillator and study its impact on the dynamical properties of the oscillator subjected to an exponential nonlinearity. We establish the existence of hyperchaotic behavior in the system through theoretical analysis and by exploiting electronic circuit experiments. The obtained numerical results are found to be in good agreement with experimental observations. Moreover, the new technique on adaptive control theory is used on our model and it is rigorously proven that the adaptive synchronization can be achieved for hyperchaotic systems with uncertain parameters.

Assuming the Rössler system as a reference, this paper studies two cases of chaotic synchronization of a pair of (master and slave) systems: one with fully uncertain parameters for both, the other where the master system has fixed given parameters while the slave system is endowed with uncertain parameters. The respective adaptive controller based on parameter identification is then designed, according to the Lyapunov stability theorem. Then, it is proved that the two controllers are capable of making the two (identical) Rössler systems asymptotically synchronized. Numerical simulation results further testify the efficiency of controllers.

This paper investigates adaptive generalized projective synchronization (GPS) between two novel hyperchaotic systems with different structure and fully uncertain parameters. Based on the Lyapunov stability theorem and the adaptive control theory, GPS between the two hyperchaotic systems is achieved by proposing a new adaptive controller and a novel parameters estimation update law. Strict theoretical proof is put forward. Numerical simulations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed GPS scheme and verify the theoretical results.

This paper is focused on the chaotic dynamics of a composite laminated circular cylindrical shell with radially pre-stretched membranes at both ends and clamped along a generatrix. Based on the two-degree-of-freedom non-autonomous nonlinear equations of this system, the method of multiple scales is employed to obtain the four-dimensional nonlinear averaged equation. The resonant case considered here is the primary parametric resonance-1/2 subharmonic resonance and 1:1 internal resonance. Corresponding to several selected parameters, the periodic and chaotic motions of the composite laminated circular cylindrical shell clamped along a generatrix are demonstrated by the bifurcation diagrams, the maximum Lyapunov exponents, the phase portraits, the waveforms, the power spectrums and the Poincaré map. The temperature parameter excitation shows that the Pomeau-Manneville type intermittent chaos occur under the certain initial conditions. It is also found that there exist the twin phenomena between the Pomeau-Manneville type intermittent chaos and the period-doubling bifurcation.

In this paper, adaptive control and adaptive synchronization of an integer and fractional order new financial system with unknown constant parameters are studied. Based on Lyapunov’s stability theory, an adaptive control law is designed to asymptotically stabilize the state variables of the system to the origin in integer and fractional order cases. By the same theory, an adaptive synchronization law is designed to perform the identical synchronization of the new financial system in the cases of integer and fractional order with unknown constant parameters. Numerical simulations are carried out in order to show the efficiency of the theoretical results.

This paper investigates the adaptive cluster synchronization in the complex networks with different orders. By means of Lyapunov stability theory and the adaptive control technique, a novel adaptive synchronization controller is developed. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed method, the examples for the synchronization of systems with the chaotic and hyperchaotic node dynamics are presented.

An adaptive control scheme is developed to study the generalized adaptive chaos synchronization with uncertain chaotic parameters behavior between two identical chaotic dynamic systems. This generalized adaptive chaos synchronization controller is designed based on Lyapunov stability theory and an analytic expression of the adaptive controller with its update laws of uncertain chaotic parameters is shown. The generalized adaptive synchronization with uncertain parameters between two identical new Lorenz-Stenflo systems is taken as three examples to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The numerical simulations are shown to verify the results.
