In the circular polarization antenna array, the input impedance, axial ratio, and radiation pattern of antenna patch will be changed. Compared with the performances of single antenna, the mutual coupling also led to the low efficiency of all antennas. A novel radiation efficiency elevation method of multifeed circular polarization (CP) antenna array is demonstrated in this paper, in order to solve the problem. To prove the concept of novel method, dual-feed antenna with stubs is developed and fabricated. According to the measured results, each antenna would increase in efficiency by approximate 1dB by applying this novel design method. Therefore, this paper provides dramatically useful results of lessening the negative effect resulting in mutual coupling.

A beam-steerable dual-circularly polarized 60 GHz antenna array is proposed. A 1 × 4 dual-fed stacked patch antenna array is integrated with an 8 × 8 Butler matrix. By utilizing the 8 × 8 Butler matrix, the proposed antenna array generates dual-circular polarization with beam-steering capability. The proposed antenna array system demonstrates good reflection coefficients in the frequency band ranging from 55.3 GHz to 64.9 GHz and has a mutual coupling of less than −10 dB over the frequency range of 57.5 GHz–63.2 GHz. At 60 GHz, the maximum gains and beam-steering angles for input ports 2, 4, 5, and 7 are 9.39 dBi at −38°, 10.67 dBi at −11°, 10.63 dBi at +11°, and 9.38 dBi at +39°, respectively. It is also demonstrated that the dual-polarization is well formed by switching the excitation ports. The right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) is formed when four ports from port 1 to port 4 are excited and left-handed circular polarization (LHCP) is formed when four ports from port 5 to port 8 are excited. The proposed antenna array system could be a good candidate for millimeter-wave 5G applications that require wide beam coverage and polarization diversity.

A single feed microstrip patch elliptically annular antenna array has been proposed for high gain circularly polarized (CP) radiation. An array of elliptically annular patches antenna resonates at a frequency of 3.77 GHz which can be used in satellite communication and radar application. A corporate feed network with quarter-wave transformer has been used for uniform excitation of all the array elements. Thus a good circular polarization is obtained by using a single feed with enhanced gain 15.62 dB compared to single patch. The radiation pattern, axial ratio and input impedance of the proposed elliptically annular antenna array is compared with single element elliptically annular antenna. A substantial gain enhancement with low side lobe level (SLL) is observed keeping circular polarization intact. Further, simulated and measured results of the proposed antenna array have been compared and found that axial ratio and gain are in good agreement.

To reduce mutual coupling effect on MIMO Antenna this paper presents the analysis of bent ground plane antennas for multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO). First, the three plate antenna array patterns of the envelope correlation coefficients are proposed to evaluate the diversity performance of antennas in MIMO systems. Following this, a compact three-element suspended plate antenna array with a bent ground plane is presented. The diversity performance of the design is experimentally and numerically analysed.

A missile-borne conformal dual-fed circular polarized microstrip antenna array is designed and fabricated, which realized omnidirectional radiation in horizontal direction. Frequencies of the antenna include GPS L1 frequency (1.575GHz) and Beidou navigation system B1 frequency (1.562GHz). Based on the HFSS simulation, the influence of conformation is analyzed on S11, axial ratio and gain of antenna array. The size of microstrip patches is changed so that the influence of conformation on antenna can be reduced. The circular polarization performance and the circular polarization gain of the antenna are also improved. The antenna array prototype is fabricated and measured. The result shows that the S11 parameter of the antenna is less than -10dB in the 1.55~1.60GHz frequency band. At the GPS L1 frequency and the Beidou B1 frequency, the maximum of horizontal omnidirectional gain is 1.73dB, 1.25dB respectively. The out-of-roundness of the radiation pattern is less than 2.5dB. The antenna has a good horizontal omnidirectional circular polarization radiation performance.

This paper presents a new broad band circularly polarized slot antenna array based on substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) and aperture feeding techniques. The antenna element's impedance and 3 dB axial-ratio (AR) bandwidths are from 8.8 to 10.4 GHz (16.67%) and 9.5–10.7 GHz (12%), respectively. Employing aperture-coupled feed and combining this method with sequentially rotated network, a 2 × 2 antenna array is achieved. Parametric optimization procedure is used to enhance the antenna specifications. In the presented scheme by reducing mutual coupling caused by the SIW technique and sequentially rotated feed network, all parameters of antenna are improved. Consequently a novel antenna array with impedance bandwidth of 2.8 GHz (8.7–11.5 GHz) and 3 dB AR bandwidth of 2.1 GHz (9–11.05 GHz) are obtained. The average gain of the proposed antenna is about 16.7 dBic. A new method is used to increase the gain of antenna array. The extracted result shows that side lob level, mutual coupling, impedance bandwidth, and performance of antenna simultaneously are controlled.
