Channel estimation is a challenging issue in millimeter-wave massive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems due to the large number of antennas in the transceiver. Existing methods are usually based on phase shifters which may not be a simple circuit at mmWave band. In this paper, we construct a switch-based architecture for analog processors from the coarray point of view and then propose an atomic ℓ 0 -norm minimization problem. We then propose an efficient algorithm to solve this problem based on Wirtinger projection. Since the proposed method requires no angle discretization, it does not suffer from grid mismatch effect that greatly deteriorates the estimation performance of grid-based channel estimation methods. Compared to the atomic norm minimization (ANM) method, our method does not involve vectorization of the channel matrix and hence the dimensionality of the problem is much less than that of ANM. We show that our method is able to provide comparable estimation performance to ANM but with much less computational time. Extensive simulations are carried out to verify the effectiveness of our proposed method.

The development of internet related applications and their increasing demands have led to advancement in high speed communication systems. For the accomplishment of these increasing demands MIMO channels with multiple transmitting and receiving antennas have been devised. MIMO systems enhance the capacity using spatial multiplexing and interference reduction through spatial dimensioning. Furthermore, MIMO systems mutual with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) improves system capacity and mitigation against fading. These systems are the basis of 4G and beyond wireless communication standards. This research work focus on improvement in channel estimation performance using various techniques on standard communication models. Semi blind channel estimation technique is employed for channel estimation, which includes use of training sequence in form of pilots. Block type arrangement is being used, since it’s based on frequency selective channels. LSE and MMSE estimations are the two basic estimation techniques which can be efficiently used to estimate channels in OFDM systems. For MMSE implementation information of noise variance and channel covariance is required. Furthermore it is extremely complex than LSE estimator. DFT and DCT based channel estimation methods are employed to increase the performance and diminish the complexity. Different interpolation methods are been used and analyzed for better performance. Number of subcarriers which also have an impact on estimation performance has also been discussed. Overall channel estimation performance have been examined for both large and small scale fading channel models.

Fading channels learning about polar codes is great prominence. Knowledge of polar codes is very important while they are applied to the wireless communication systems. In fading Channels the communication through channel estimation which is an essential step for communication. The structure is constructed by a set of information bits for both systematic polar code and non-systematic polar code and the information set recognized frozen bits. In fading channels uneven pilot selection scheme and even pilot selection scheme are two pilot selection schemes are considered for polar codes. There is an improvement in decoding performance of polar codes using these selection schemes. In this choosing of coded symbols treated as pilots is a replacement of insertion of pilots. Polar codes have poor performance in fixed domain. So the EPS selection scheme can be active for tracing or channel estimation. The structure of polar code encoding is acapable structure and pilot selection is grave since whole selections cannot use the existing structure again. By conjoining the above advantages, pilot signals are selected without any addition from outside and insertion of pilot symbols impartial to estimation of the channel. Leveraging this, the DM-BS scheme is applyto multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system in frequency selective fading channel.

Wireless communication technology has been developed rapidly after entering the 21st century. Data transfer rate increased significantly as well as the bandwidth became wider and wider from 2G to 4G in wireless communication systems. Channel estimation is an import part of any communication systems; its accuracy determines the quality of the whole communication. Channel estimation methods of typical wireless communication systems such as UWB, 2G and 3G have been researched.
