Author describes the life of Derik Pinel, a St Lucian Creole who lives in French Guiana. Pinel is one of Guiana's last gold propectors at the Maroni River basin. This river is inhabited by three populations -Creoles, Maroons, and Amerindians- who share the same natural environment but each one's way of life is distinctive.

There are problems people don’t want to talk about, and one of them is incontinence in adults. This is a fairly common and delicate problem. It negatively affects human life. This most often applies to people with disabilities and bedridden patients. People have to change their usual way of life, give up their favorite activities, there is a constant need to stay at home. Walking, attending events are difficult. All this has a corresponding effect on the psychological health of a person. In such a situation, it is advisable to use diapers for adults. This is a modern hygienic product that is intended to make life easier for people suffering from various forms of incontinence. Diapers are similar in shape to baby diapers, but they are adapted to the size of an adult. This is a great option for the care of patients who are bedfast or in a wheelchair.

Creative potential is one of the very most important topics for research. It is difficult to study because, unlike creative products, potential is by definition latent. There are several methods. One involves comparing creative activity expressed in various settings. Previous research has, for example, compared creativity expressed in school with that expressed by the same individuals when they are outside of school. There tends to be more creative activity outside of school, suggesting that the individual has creative potential, but it is only allowed to be expressed in certain settings. The present investigation extended this line of research by comparing creative activity in school, at home, and that occurring outside of school and home. Results indicated that the activity scores from the three settings shared less than 52% of their variance. The measures used were highly reliable, so the conclusion was that, as in previous research, various settings do indeed differentially allow the expression of creative potential. Comparisons of means also supported this finding. Interestingly, creative activity at home was significantly more common than creative activity at school and when outside of the home and school. A statistical test of method variance indicated that it was not a notable contribution nor confound. Limitations are discussed at the end of the manuscript.

The relationships between land use patterns and water quality in trans-boundary watersheds remain elusive due to the heterogeneous natural environment. We assess the impact of land use patterns on water quality at different eco-functional regions in the Songhua River basin during two hydrological seasons in 2016. The partial least square regression indicated that agricultural activities associated with most water quality pollutants in the region with a relative higher runoff depth and lower altitude. Intensive grazing had negative impacts on water quality in plain areas with low runoff depth. Forest was related negatively with degraded water quality in mountainous high flow region. Patch density and edge density had major impacts on water quality contaminants especially in mountainous high flow region; Contagion was related with non-point source pollutants in mountainous normal flow region; landscape shape index was an effective indicator for anions in some eco-regions in high flow season; Shannon’s diversity index contributed to degraded water quality in each eco-region, indicating the variation of landscape heterogeneity influenced water quality regardless of natural environment. The results provide a regional based approach of identifying the impact of land use patterns on water quality in order to improve water pollution control and land use management.

In recent years, 66kV vertical TCR-type SVC was put into operation in several transformer substations at home. Compared to the compensation mode of the conventional 35kV SVC which is connected to 66kV busbar through by way of step-down transformer, the vertical compensation mode has the advantages of low loss and small maintenance amount. However, it is found that damage of phase controlled reactor in TCR happens in several scenes, and the technicians and research institutions studied this problem from such aspects as phase controlled reactor manufacturing process, SVC control strategy and natural environment of the transformer substations and obtained their own conclusions. This paper uses PSCAD software to conduct a simulation research on the 66kV vertical SVC system installed on a 220kV transformer substation at home and concluded that the SVC switching overvoltage might be the direct cause leading to damage of phase controlled reactor.

The Zuibaiji River located west of Fukuoka city has a rich natural environment and history but various problems as well. In order to solve some of these problems, stakeholders need to observe and talk about the river. Also recently, the "MIZBERING Project" has been opening up possibilities for renewing riverside uses of lost activities from the old days in Japan. This project is being conducted by citizens, companies and government administrations with an interest in waterside areas. The First MIZBERING Zuibaiji River Conference was held to discuss the issues of the Zuibaiji basin. Its purpose was to visit and search out the nature and history of the entire Zuibaiji basin from its mountains to the sea and to rediscover the Zuibaiji basin, and finally to discuss future plans for the Zuibaiji basin and Imazu tidal flat at its outlet. After visiting the Zuibaiji basin, we discovered a problem in that the Zubaiji Dam is holding not only water but also sand, and this problem affects the environment of the Zuibaiji basin such as its ecosystem and topography. Finally, we provided a venue for the local people to discuss problems and future plans for the Zuibaiji basin.

America's farmers, over the years, have received and accepted much good advice about how to value their way of life, how to become more efficient producers, how to maintain prices and incomes, how to preserve the soil and the natural environment, and how to relate to other economic sectors and to fanners in other countries.

The British in India have always fascinated their fellow countrymen. From the eighteenth century until the demise of the Raj innumerable publications described the way of life of white people in India for the delectation of a public at home. Post-colonial Britain evidently still retains a voracious appetite for anecdotes of the Raj and accounts of themores of what is often represented as a bizarre Anglo-Indian world. Beneath the welter of apparent triviality, historians are, however, finding issues of real significance.
