Looking at practices in different locations is beneficial since it helps challenge assumptions that we may take for granted. Groupwork, as a method of social work, is specifically interesting to explore in the light of different contexts since, like social work, it may or may not translate well across cultures. This paper draws from data collected in the context of a research project that aimed to describe the current state of social work with groups in Quebec and to explore trends within social work with groups elsewhere in the world. Specifically, it focuses on the exploration of practices in Quebec and discusses them in relationship to those found in the USA, as a counterpoint. Our findings highlight some differences and similarities between Quebec and the USA with regard to groupwork, which leads us to discuss a range of factors that may impact on groupwork in the different contexts. Of these, the differences of organisational context and organisation of services have emerged as particularly noteworthy, which echoes findings in general social work literature with regard to the importance of local contexts on the definition of practice itself.

Peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) is a global challenge of modern oncology representing the most unfavourable scenario in diverse-locality tumourisation. Despite certain attention by the oncological community, the management of PC patients is currently palliative, which weakly promotes research into the basic principles of this morbidity. This literature review attempts to comprehensively cover the PC problematic from a global perspective and presents a key evidence on the world schools of thought in this area. Briefly taking, peritoneal carcinomatosis is viewed today as a local process in the conventional implantation theory, which imposes a locoregional character on all current or emerging therapies, such as cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Their inadequate efficacy is largely due to pronounced gaps in our understanding of PC logistics and signalling. PSOGI is a key organisation for centralising the specialty effort in peritoneal carcinomatosis. Despite its global geography and approach to PC discussion, a multitude of scientific questions remain unanswered impeding the establishment of novel effective therapies. The seven countries that nurtured distinguished schools of thought in PC studies are the USA, UK, Japan, China, Italy, France and Germany. Taking peritoneal carcinomatosis in a global perspective, an insufficient attention to its problematic in Russia should be addressed. The founding and fostering of national PC institutions will benefit cancer patients and progress in oncological science.

Strategic Management (SM) finds wide adoption across the industry, government, military academia and other organizations with a view to ensuring survival and longterm growth. Universities across the world, especially in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada and China, have successfully implemented SM to build strong international brands and consistently maintain top global rankings. Indian Higher Education (IHE) sector, however, has not been proactive in adopting SM to address the numerous challenges that confront it. In this paper, the authors have explored the current state of SM adoption in IHE, highlighting the challenges in its implementation and suggest some ideas to help institutionalize SM for effecting long-term positive change in the sector.

Recently, the popularization of obligatory preventive use of multivitamin preparations has been observed, and, as a result of this, they have become an integral part of the modern lifestyle. This is precisely what determines the relevance and necessity of researching the market of vitamin and mineral complexes in Ukraine. A feature of the current state of the vitamin market is their positioning in the form of both drugs and dietary supplements (DS). In view of this, research of the assortment dynamics of product range, the features of the competitive environment for this group of drugs are important. Therefore, the purpose of our work was to analyze the dynamics of the range of vitamin drugs and compare them with the range of vitamin DS. The material of the study was an assortment of vitamin drugs and DS according to the manuals «Compendium. Medicines» of different years of publication in period from1999 to 2019 and Compendium.online site as of February 2019. Such research methods of market conditions analysis for vitamin products as generalization, systematization, comparative analysis were used. The analysis of the dynamics of the range of vitamin medicines in Ukraine during 1999-2019 was conducted. It was determined that the maximum amount of vitamin products was presented in the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine in 2007 (267 items by trade names), the minimum – in 2016 (119 preparations). At the beginning of 2019 the number of vitamin medicines is 170. 21 Ukrainian producers offered 84 vitamin drugs, which is almost half of the registered positions (49,4%). Another 86 drugs (51,6% of the analyzed population) are represented by 30 manufacturers from 18 countries of the world. Among the foreign producers, the largest number of positions is offered by manufacturers from the USA (22), Germany (15), Israel (9), and Slovenia (8). On the Compendium.online information resource in the section «Dietary Supplements», there were 325 presented items of vitamin supplements from 126 manufacturers, which is almost twice the number of registered vitamin medicines (170). All 16 vitamin drug manufacturers also have diet supplements in their portfolio. For 5 producers, the amount of supplements exceeds the supply of drugs in the investigated segment: Queisser Pharma, Bayer, Beringer Ingelheim, Dr. Theiss Naturwaren (all – Germany), Polfarma (Poland) and Valeant (Canada).

In the article, the problem of overcoming poverty acquires further theoretical and methodological substantiation. The current state of overcoming poverty in the world and in Ukraine (on the example of non-standard forms of employment (NFP) "volunteering" and "voluntourism") in the global socio-economic and political aspects in the context of permanent changes and transformations of the world are considered. It is shown: international documents fix the existence of the problem of poverty and determine the main directions of the XXI century for overcoming it (on the example of the UN Millennium Declaration); the coronavirus pandemic has led to an increase in poverty; the main problem of overcoming poverty in Ukraine is the lack of a comprehensive system in the country that can effectively address poverty problems (government bodies are not involved in poverty prevention policies, but only fight with its consequences); in Ukraine, the most pressing problem is poverty among the working-age population and the poverty of families with children; poverty in Ukraine is characterized by a number of national characteristics (the UN notes that absolute poverty in Ukraine has been overcome. But relative poverty is 78%); solving the problem of overcoming poverty in Ukraine requires the development of a system of complex scientifically based and effective measures that should take into account the profile, specifics and features of the formation and spread of poverty, the causes of its occurrence and ways of overcoming it, as well as the most effective state policy for overcoming poverty and economic mechanisms for its implementation; world experience considers the NFP “volunteering” and “voluntourism” as forms of employment that can overcome the effect of abstraction of people from social problems and poverty, form a model of collective participation in the elimination of the latter, and restore human values; volunteering and voluntouring are supported by government agencies of the USA, Canada, Australia, England, Italy, Japan and other developed countries, including through the adoption of legislative acts that stimulate their development, the creation of a system of state volunteer centers and special programs of volunteering and voluntourism; Ukrainians attach great importance to volunteering and voluntourism in the development of social processes.

Abstract:The Internationalists is a fascinating book. The authors present a clear proposition about the significance of the 1928 Pact for the Renunciation of War for a more peaceful world. My focus is on the role of what the authors call outcasting, as an alternative to war. I argue that outcasting is hardly new. It has been known as reprisals or self-help, and currently as countermeasures. It is essential that such measures are brought under international control. What is more, the current US administration is a threat to the current world order. Other states and civil society need to continue to develop internationally controlled sanctions against violations of international law – also in the absence of the USA.

Today, Ukraine has retained a fairly strong scientific potential. However, the level of patent and innovation activity in Ukraine is low, because the state provides for a small percentage of the gross domestic product (GDP) that goes to finance research. In recent years, the number of research works and staff of research institutes has been shrinking rapidly due to chronic underfunding and outdated experimental research equipment. For the same reason, the citation index of works of Ukrainian scientists is low. The weak material base of the Ukrainian research institutes stipulates that the ratio of experimental to theoretical scientific and technical developments has been decreasing in recent years. Most patents are registered by Ukrainian scientists in Ukraine - in Ukrpatent. The majority of international patents are granted to Ukrainians in the USA, Germany and Switzerland. Against the background of the integration of Ukrainian scientists into the world community, there is a significant increase in the number of joint scientific publications of Ukrainian scientists with foreign colleagues. In recent years, the world has seen a rapid increase in patents on nanotechnology in the most technologically advanced countries in the world. The patent and innovation activity in Ukraine is expected to grow rapidly in the near future. The main goal is to ensure rapid and qualitative transformation of creative ideas into innovative products and services that increase the level of innovation of the national economy.

The oversight of police conduct is a fundamental governance issue and relates to concerns about democratisation and the building of a civil society. The subject of this paper is to outline the general mechanism of the oversight of police. The establishment of oversight institutions over the police is undoubtedly a key element in democratic policing. Another aim is to explain the development of the idea of resident oversight of the police, which offers some organizational examples that have been developed in some countries around the world. Examples from the UK, India and the USA revealed that oversight mechanisms vary from one country to another in terms of establishment and sustainability. The paper submits the reasons for the independent investigation of police complaints and for restoring confidence in the complaints system and in policing.

The number of classical banks in the world has reduced. In the majority of countries the number of banks does not exceed 200. The uniqueness of the Russian banking sector is that in this respect it takes the third place in the world after the USA and Germany. The paper reviews the conclusions of the economic theory about the optimum structure of the banking market. The empirical analysis shows that the number of banks in a country is influenced by the size of its territory, population number and GDP per capita. Our econometric estimate is that the equilibrium number of banks in Russia should be in a range of 180-220 units.
