A decision-making process in an organization is more effective if it is supported by reliable and valid information systems. Management Information System (MIS) and Decision Support System (DSS) are two systems commonly used by organizational leaders to collect information for making the Quality of Decision (QD). This study aimed to empirically investigate MIS influences on vocational high school principals’ QD. Besides, this study examined the moderation effect of the DSS on the decision-making processes. This quantitative research employed the survey method and purposive sampling technique. As many as 60 vocational high school principals and vice-principals in Yogyakarta, Indonesia were the participants of this study. They filled in questionnaires consisting of 19 items that were developed using the Likert scale. The quantitative data obtained were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. The research findings show that MIS has a significant effect on the quality of the decision-making process by vocational high school principals. However, for improving the decision quality, the model must be assisted by DSS as the moderator variable. MIS carries information required for principals while DSS provides data, model, and analysis instruments used for special cases in vocational high schools.

A 36-item questionnaire; divided into three domains, was developed for data gathering. The findings of the study indicated that the degree of principals' use of the Kaizen model from the teachers' point of view was medium. The ranking of the three questionnaire domains was as follows: cooperation, continuous improvement of work, and decision-making. Furthermore, the results indicated that there are no statistically significant differences at the level (&=0.05) attributed to the study's three variables: gender, scientific qualification or years of experience.

Decision-making is a very critical aspect of management in the schooling environment. The purpose of this chapter was to investigate the role of primary school principals in engaging role players (particularly teachers) in decision-making in South Africa. Before the democratic dispensation in South Africa, decision-making was predominantly top down. This means that school leadership and principals in particular, made most decisions on their own and teachers were expected to implement these decisions without asking questions. The current study was conducted in the Waterberg Education Department, which is one of the education districts in South Africa. A descriptive research method was used and one hundred and seventy questionnaires were administered to teachers. The study revealed that the majority of principals do promote shared decision-making. This is demonstrated by the fact that the findings further indicate that principals create opportunities for decision-making, they provide feedback and expect engagement of the feedback and allow the views of stakeholders in the work allocation process.

Shared decision-making (SDM), a component of patient-centered care, is the process in which the clinician and patient both participate in decision-making about treatment; information is shared between the parties and both agree with the decision. Shared decision-making is appropriate for health care conditions in which there is more than one evidence-based treatment or management option that have different benefits and risks. The patient's involvement ensures that the decisions regarding treatment are sensitive to the patient's values and preferences. Audiologic rehabilitation requires substantial behavior changes on the part of patients and includes benefits to their communication as well as compromises and potential risks. This article identifies the importance of shared decision-making in audiologic rehabilitation and the changes required to implement it effectively.
