The new staggered story isolated system is developed according to the base isolated system and the mid-story isolated system. Non-linear finite element model of an eighteen stories new staggered story isolated structure is established. For a comparative analysis, the models of a base isolated structure, a mid-story isolated structure, and an aseismic structure are also established, and their shock absorption performances and damages are analyzed for comparison. The results indicate that the new staggered story isolated structure has a small seismic response, good shock absorption performance which is feasible for application. Besides, the shock absorption performance of the new staggered story isolated structure is a little worse than the base isolated structure but slightly better than the mid-story isolated structure. The bottom of core tube and the story below the frame isolated story have large acceleration response which needs to be paid more attention in design.

The establishment of FCEV finite element model of the subframe is based on Hypermesh platform, and a new subframe structure is designed in accordance with the stiffness and strength analysis on the original subframe in all conditions. High-strength steel materials are used to optimize the design of this new structure, which result in the optimal size. Through the comparative analysis of the strength, stiffness, mode shape and quality on new subframe and the original one, it is verified that the design of the new subframe is reasonable and feasible.

This paper investigates the behavior of woven prepreg plies being placed on a weakly double curved mold by a robot. It is essential that the draped configuration is free from wrinkles. The baseline is a virtual draping environment that can plan and simulate robot draping sequences. It consists of a kinematic mapping algorithm for obtaining target points for the grippers on the mold surface. A simple motion planner is used to calculate the trajectories of the grippers. Here, two conceptually different draping strategies are employed. Finally, the two generated draping sequences are simulated using a transient, non-linear finite element model and compared w.r.t. their predicted wrinkle formations. Material data are obtained by means of tension, bias-extension and cantilever tests. The numerical examples show that the virtual draping environment can aid in developing the automatic draping system but that the generation of feasible draping sequences is highly path dependent and non-trivial.

The contraction joints of arch dams with and without shear keys are simplified to be with no-slip condition and with relative sliding condition, respectively. Based on the Lagrange multiplier method, a contact model considering the manner of independent cantilever dead load type with no-slip condition and relative sliding condition is proposed to model the nonlinearities of vertical contraction joins, which is special to the nonlinear analysis of arch dams considering the manner of dead load type. Different from the conventional Gauss iterative method, the strategy of the alternating iterative solution of normal force and tangential force is employed. The parallelization based on overlapping domain decomposition method (ODDM) and explicit message passing using distributed memory parallel computers is employed to improve the computational efficiency. An existing high arch dam with fine finite element model is analyzed to investigate the effect of shear sliding of vertical joints on seismic response of the arch dam. The result shows that the values of maximum principal tensile stress under relative sliding condition are significantly greater than those under no-slip condition.
