Design and analysis of a Cross Car frame. Proposal of a three-level appraisal methodology

This paper analyses the structural design process of a Cross Car frame. Existing international and national technical regulations were analysed. The analysis of the regulatory guidelines led to the conclusion that the design only includes geometric or material restrictions at the international level. There are other more demanding national regulations (Spanish, for instance) that include structural verifications through static calculations for unidirectional actions (vertical, longitudinal or lateral). The main contribution of this paper is a novel three-level appraisal and a proposed redesign methodology. At the first level, a geometric and material verification is carried out. The second level involves the verification under unidirectional static actions. The third level entails a dynamic verification of three-dimensional combined actions. The load case is obtained from the computer multibody dynamics simulation of the full vehicle assembly in the worst case of driving conditions on circuits. This methodology is a far more detailed tool than traditional design processes. The use of this methodology allows for design optimisation, including all the effects of powertrain, brakes, suspension, steering and driver.

In this paper, three-dimensional models of the long range rocket artillery launch guider is created by Pro/E software, and the virtual prototype of the long range rocket artillery launch guider is built based on ADAMS software. Finally, the author analyzes the virtual prototype with dynamics simulation, taking the launch guider's firing for exampel. It ends with the variance of characteristics of launch guider under different angular circumstance based on the analysis of simulation results and corresponding charts. The result proves the correctness and feasibility of the virtual prototype of the long range rocket artillery launch guider. It has the great significance to the lifetime prediction, structural design, fault diagnosis of the long range rocket artillery.

The paper presents a summary of the results obtained by C. J. Cohen and E. C. Hubbard, who established by numerical integration that a resonance relation exists between the orbits of Neptune and Pluto. The problem may be explored further by approximating the motion of Pluto by that of a particle with negligible mass in the three-dimensional (circular) restricted problem. The mass of Pluto and the eccentricity of Neptune's orbit are ignored in this approximation. Significant features of the problem appear to be the presence of two critical arguments and the possibility that the orbit may be related to a periodic orbit of the third kind.

Abstract Although stochastic modeling methods can achieve multiple implementations of sedimentary microfacies model in dense well blocks, it is difficult to realize continuous convergence of well spacing. Taking the small high-sinuosity meandering river sediments of the third member of Quantou Formation in Songliao Basin as an example, a deterministic modeling method based on geological vector information was explored in this article. Quantitative geological characteristics of point bar sediments were analyzed by field outcrops, modern sediments, and dense well block anatomy. The lateral extension distance, length, and spacing parameters of the point bar were used to quantitatively characterize the thickness, dip angle, and frequency of the lateral layer. In addition, the three-dimensional architecture modeling of the point bar was carried out in the study. The established three-dimensional architecture model of well X24-1 had continuous convergence near all wells, which conformed to the geological knowledge of small high-sinuosity meandering river, and verified the reliability of this method in the process of geological modeling in dense well blocks.

This study presents robustness analyses of a three-dimensional multi-storey composite steel structure under the action of multiple fire scenarios. The main objective of the work is to improve current understanding of the collapse resistance of this type of building under different fire situations. A finite element approach was adopted with the model being firstly validated against previous studies available in the literature. The modelling approach was then used to investigate the collapse resistance of the structure for the various fire scenarios examined. Different sizes of fire compartment are considered in this study, starting from one bay, three bays and lastly the whole ground floor as the fire compartment. The investigation allows a fundamental understanding of load redistribution paths and member interactions when local failure occurs. It is concluded that the robustness of the focussed building in a fire is considerably affected by the size of fire compartments as well as fire location. The subject building can resist progressive collapse when the fire occurs only in the one-bay compartment. On the other hand, total collapse occurs when fire is located in the edge three-bay case. This shows that more than one fire scenario needs to be taken into consideration to ensure that a structure of this type can survive from collapse in the worst-case situation.

The UAV/UGV heterogeneous system combines the air superiority of UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) and the ground superiority of UGV (unmanned ground vehicle). The system can complete a series of complex tasks and one of them is pursuit-evasion decision, so a collaborative strategy of UAV/UGV heterogeneous system is proposed to derive a pursuit-evasion game in complex three-dimensional (3D) polygonal environment, which is large enough but with boundary. Firstly, the system and task hypothesis are introduced. Then, an improved boundary value problem (BVP) is used to unify the terrain data of decision and path planning. Under the condition that the evader knows the position of collaborative pursuers at any time but pursuers just have a line-of-sight view, a worst case is analyzed and the strategy between the evader and pursuers is studied. According to the state of evader, the strategy of collaborative pursuers is discussed in three situations: evader is in the visual field of pursuers, evader just disappears from the visual field of pursuers, and the position of evader is completely unknown to pursuers. The simulation results show that the strategy does not guarantee that the pursuers will win the game in complex 3D polygonal environment, but it is optimal in the worst case.

To assess the roller coaster multi-body system security, it is need to extract the running process of kinematics, dynamics, load spectrum and other features, as basis dates of the roller coaster structural design. Based on Solidworks/motion software and in the 3D model, the calculation formula of the carrying car velocity and acceleration is derived, and the five risk points of the roller coaster track section are found by simulation in the running, and the simulation results of roller coaster axle mass center velocity are compared with theoretical calculation results, which error is less than 4.1%, indicating that the calculation and simulation have a good fit and providing the evidence for the roller coaster structure design analysis.

AbstractA series of high-energy, up to 20 keV, displacement cascades in iron have been investigated for times up to 200 ps at 100 K using the method of molecular dynamics simulation. Thesimulations were carried out using the MOLDY code and a modified version of the many-bodyinteratomic potential developed by Finnis and Sinclair. The paper focuses on those results obtained at the highest energies, 10 and 20 keV. The results indicate that the fraction of the Frenkel pairs surviving in-cascade recombination remains fairly high in iron and that the fraction of the surviving point defects that cluster is lower than in materials such as copper. In particular, vacancy clustering appears to be inhibited in iron. Some of the interstitial clusters were observed to exhibit an unexpectedly complex, three-dimensional morphology. The observations are discussed in terms of their relevance to microstructural evolution and mechanical property changes in irradiated iron-based alloys.

A general theory of electron diffraction by crystals is developed. The crystals are assumed to be infinitely extended in two dimensions and finite in the third dimension. For the scattering problem by this structure two-dimensionally expanded forms of GREEN’S function and integral equation are at first derived, and combined in single three-dimensional forms. EWALD’S method is applied to sum up the series for GREEN’S function.
