AbstractIn this study, we discuss a cancer model considering discrete time-delay in tumor-immune interaction and stimulation processes. This study aims to analyze and observe the dynamics of the model along with variation of vital parameters and the delay effect on anti-tumor immune responses. We obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of equilibrium points and their stability. Existence of Hopf bifurcation at co-axial equilibrium is investigated. The stability of bifurcating periodic solutions is discussed, and the time length for which the solutions preserve the stability is estimated. Furthermore, we have derived the conditions for the direction of bifurcating periodic solutions. Theoretically, it was observed that the system undergoes different states if we vary the system’s parameters. Some numerical simulations are presented to verify the obtained mathematical results.

The stability of generator excitations and SVCs in power system with wide-area time-delay coordinating Control is investigated in this paper. A nonlinear time-delay Hamiltonian model of power system with SVCs is constructed and the Hamiltonian functional method is used to derive a delay-dependent steady stability criterion in term of matrix inequalities by constructing suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional. Then the wide-area damping controller (WADC) and wide-area damping supplementary controller (WDSC) for the power system is designed based on the delay-dependent sufficient conditions. Four-generator eleven-bus power system is used to illustrate delay effect on inter-area mode damping. The performance of the proposed controller is verified by the results of simulation in time-domain, and it is proved that the method proposed in this paper is effective.

Models of detritus-based ecosystems with delay have received a great deal of attention for the last few decades. This paper deals with the dynamical analysis of a nonlinear model of a detritus-based ecosystem involving detritivores and predator of detritivores. We have obtained the criteria for local stability of various equilibrium points and persistence of the model system. Next, we have introduced discrete time delay due to recycling of dead organic matters and gestation of nutrients to the growth equations of various trophic levels. With delay differential equation model system we have studied the effect of time delay on the stability behaviour. Next, we have obtained an estimate for the length of time delay to preserve the stability of the model system. Finally, the existence of Hopf-bifurcating small amplitude periodic solutions is derived by considering time delay as a bifurcation parameter.

The stability of a class of static interval neural networks with time delay in the leakage term is investigated. By using the method ofM-matrix and the technique of delay differential inequality, we obtain some sufficient conditions ensuring the global exponential robust stability of the networks. The results in this paper extend the corresponding conclusions without leakage delay. An example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Tumor-immune interaction plays an important role in the tumor treatment. We analyze the stability of steady states in a diffusive tumor-immune model with response and proliferation delay [Formula: see text] of immune system where the immune cell has a probability [Formula: see text] in killing tumor cells. We find increasing time delay [Formula: see text] destabilizes the positive steady state and induces Hopf bifurcations. The criticality of Hopf bifurcation is investigated by deriving normal forms on the center manifold, then the direction of bifurcation and stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are determined. Using a group of parameters to simulate the system, stable periodic solutions are found near the Hopf bifurcation. The effect of killing probability [Formula: see text] on Hopf bifurcation values is also discussed.

Abstract Systems of time-delay differential equations are widely used to study the dynamics of infectious diseases and immune responses. The Marchuk-Petrov model is one of them. Stable non-trivial steady states and stable periodic solutions to this model can be interpreted as chronic viral diseases. In this work we briefly describe our technology developed for computing steady and periodic solutions of time-delay systems and present and discuss the results of computing periodic solutions for the Marchuk-Petrov model with parameter values corresponding to the hepatitis B infection.

This paper presents a brief review on the current applications and perspectives on the stability of complex dynamical systems, with an emphasis on three main classes of systems such as delay-free systems, time-delay systems, and systems with uncertainties in its parameters, which lead to some criteria with necessary and/or sufficient conditions to determine stability and/or stabilization in the domains of frequency and time. Besides, criteria on robust stability and stability of nonlinear time-delay systems are presented, including some numerical approaches.

In order to effectively improve the equipment maintenance material procurement management efficiency, improve economic efficiency of using the procurement funds, strengthen mathematical theory applications in the area of procurement, the neural network used in evaluation of organizational change is one of the most effective means. In this paper, a class of stochastic Cohen–Grossberg neural networks with reaction-diffusion terms, discrete time delay and distributed time delay is investigated. First, we describe the modeling, illuminate the significance of the system and introduce some preliminary definitions and lemmas which will be employed throughout the paper. Then, by using the Lyapunov functional method, M-matrix properties, nonnegative semimartingale convergence theorem and some inequality technique, sufficient conditions are obtained to guarantee the exponential stability of the system.

We consider periodic solutions which bifurcate from equilibria in simple population models which incorporate a state-dependent time delay of the discrete kind. The delay is a function of the current size of the population. Solutions near equilibria are constructed using perturbation methods to determine the sub/supercriticality of the bifurcation and hence their stability. The stability of the bifurcating solutions depends on the qualitative form of the delay function. This is in contrast to the stability of an equilibrium, which is determined purely by the actual value of this function at the equilibrium.

A predator-prey system with two delays and stage-structure for both the predator and the prey is considered. Sufficient conditions for the local stability and the existence of periodic solutions via Hopf bifurcation with respect to both delays are obtained by analyzing the distribution of the roots of the associated characteristic equation. Specially, the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the periodic solutions bifurcating from the Hopf bifurcation are determined by applying the normal form theory and center manifold argument. Some numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical analysis are also provided.
