ResumenLa existencia de una gran cantidad de edificios antiguos ha movilizado la investigación para estudiar nuevos sistemas de refuerzo a aquellas construcciones que sean dañadas por decadencia fisiológica o por terremoto. El presente documento demuestra la eficacia de un sistema de refuerzo innovador para los muros de mampostería, constituyentes los elementos estructurales de los edificios históricos. Se hace una comparación entre unas redes bidireccionales de fibras sintéticas tradicionales y las de fibras naturales, ambas pegadas a las dos fachadas del muro con matriz de mortero. El resultado muestra la aplicación de las fibras de cáñamo como refuerzo sísmico y una mayor compatibilidad de estas con el material que caracterizan los edificios antiguos. AbstractThe existence of a large number of old buildings has mobilized research to study new systems of reinforcement to those buildings that are damaged by physiological decay or earthquake. This document demonstrates the effectiveness of an innovative reinforcement system for masonry walls, which are the structural elements of historic buildings. A comparison is made between bidirectional networks of traditional synthetic fibers and those of natural fibers, both glued to the two facades of the wall with mortar matrix. The result shows the application of hemp fibers as seismic reinforcement and a greater compatibility of these with the material that characterize the old buildings.

Columns are structural elements subjected to compression and sometimes bending. The way of their anchorages in foundations usually allows to withstand bending only in one plane, while in another plane connection is assumed to be hinged. Sometimes column need to be fixed in both planes, for example in steel sheds, which causes biaxial bending with additional axial force in column bases. Both codes [1] and available literature (ex. [2], [3], [4]) give procedures only to calculate column bases under bending in one axial. This paper shows the proposal of the procedure to calculate column bases under compression and biaxial bending. This iterative procedure is based on component method. Obtained results were compared with results from finite element analysis.

The article deals with the spells of one functional-thematic group recorded in the Middle Irtysh region. The features of existence of these spells in the regional tradition of the Middle Irtysh region and versification of their plots are re- vealed. The prevalence of spells in cause of a wrench in the two Northern districts of Omsk region is caused by the settle- ment of Belarusians in these places in the late XIX – early XX centuries. This suggests that the place of the exodus tra- dition of the spells from a wrench is in Belarus. The analysis of the plots of these spells confirms this assumption. The method of examining the Siberian plots is based on the systematization of structural elements of plots proposed by T. A. Agapkina and A. L. Toporkov which researchers call episodes. The article compares the episodes of the second Mersebourg spell in Belarusian spells with Siberian texts. The comparison shows that the language of this spells being subjected to Russification. On the one hand, this leads to the loss of some motives and formulas, i.e. the violation of the integrity of the plot, on the other hand, the rhythm of the text is enhanced, the rhyme appears. These processes open the way to the penetration of verbal components from other functional groups into the considered spells. As the result, one can observe the extension of ideas that this disease is not necessarily associated with the violation of integrity of the body.

The relevance of the research is determined by the high social significance of the problems of identity formation in modern society, reflected in cinema, and the insufficient knowledge of the processes of constructing various identity models in the art space of cinema and the connection of the psychological stages of development of this identity with elements of the structure of film narration. A comparison of the structural elements of the hero’s travel map (compositional nodes of the script) with the epigenetic diagram of the stages of identity formation and a description of the formal-substantive unity of the elements of dramaturgy and Erickson’s staged model constitute the scientific novelty of the study. The purpose of the study is to show that the drama of the film, the structural elements of the compositional set of stages of the hero’s way, the transition to new states through passing tests and gaining knowledge correspond to the stages of ego-identity formation, reflecting the person’s ability to overcome problems by transforming himself in the process of interaction with social categories. To achieve this goal, a comparative-typological method is used to solve the following problems: highlight the general structural and substantial characteristics of the initiation rite as a process of formation and development of the hero’s identity and way, built on the basis of the monomith structure; describe the possibilities of reflecting the psychological processes of the formation of ego identity at each stage of the structure of the hero’s path; based on the analysis of individual films show ways to reflect the stages of building the ego-identity of the hero in the meaningful characteristics of the stages of his path as elements of film dramaturgy. The subject of analysis in this article is the relationship of the stages of the way of the hero and level them solve psychological problems with the content of normative crises build ego-identity. The structure of the cinematic in the work relate to the sequences and stages of identity formation. The hero, moving from a state of "ordinary world" to the main test encounters problems, the relevant stages of identity formation. The hero of the film stay in the everyday world at the initial stage of the journey to the main test involves going beyond the existing knowledge about yourself and meet new requirements to change yourself, which can be done with varying degrees of success. If the hero has successfully passed the first stage of identity development, at this stage it has no problems and when confronted with the limits of private autonomy, he can hear "the call to pilgrimage", and the transition to the next stage of the journey will include a manifestation of the activity of changing yourself in gaining this autonomy. But if the confidence in the world the character was not formed, the call to travel in the form in which it is presented in the film, is seen as a confirmation of the fragility of the world and causes no movement in the direction of learning and change itself, and the movement in the direction of test the strength of the environment. In this case, the stages of the traversed path will not lead the protagonist to a complete solution of the problem of ego-identity, and throughout all the stages of the way the hero will solve these specific problems, moving consistently towards a successful or not successful gaining of trust to the world or the formation of learning ability. The research is based on the material of Russian and foreign cinema 20th-21st centuries.

The challenge lies in the absence of a coherent hegemony, an absence arising from a diverse immigrant population and a political tradition that respects its differences. Nonetheless, the notion of a Canadian cuisine finds expression in the country’s public and private institutions, in the way that recipes originating elsewhere have been interpreted, and in the use of native ingredients and practices.

This research explores the relation between the aspect of free will in the novel A Clockwork Orange to the social and cultural phenomena in the era of counterculture movement. The writer uses descriptive qualitative method to analyze the structural elements of the novel and relate them to the supporting data from external references. The objectives of the research which are presented as follows: 1) to describe the way the importance of free will affect the characters’ behavior in A Clockwork Orange, and 2) to reveal the way the importance of free will in this novel reflect the social condition during the era of counterculture movement. The writer also applies the genetic structuralism approach to focus the analysis on the element of free will and the way it relates to the elements of counterculture. The result of this research shows that there are several structural relations that connect both the aspect of free will in the novel and those in the era of counter-culture movement which consist of youth subculture, resistance against the state, and police brutality. The implication of this research is to promote the improvement of youth’s behavior and social awareness by the implementation of free will and safe environment, not by force or violence.

It tells the story of 16-year-old Seth who drowns in the first chapter of the book and then finds himself in a desolate, abandoned place, wondering whether he is still alive or in some version of hell – or somewhere in between – and dreaming his last dream in the moment of death. Or might Seth have woken up from what could be called a collective dream, a virtual reality that has become the safe haven for humanity after the physical world has become uninhabitable? Neither the protagonist nor the reader is given a conclusive answer. This article addresses the literary strategies that are deployed in the novel to create this plurality of possible readings. Specific attention is paid to the way in which structural elements of the utopian novel and the adolescent novel are combined and hybridised. Drawing on the concept of heterotopia as a postmodern utopian subgenre, it is argued that More Than This can be read as an aesthetic realisation of a post-modern frame of mind, generating what Jean-François Lyotard calls the differend, and thereby offering readers the opportunity to consciously endure radical plurality.

Multi-leaf masonry walls constitute the construction typology most widely adopted in historic buildings. This aspect, together with the intrinsic structural complexity, heterogeneity and irregularity, directs the present research towards a topic not yet sufficiently investigated by the research community of architects and civil engineers. In this paper, the case of multi-leaf masonry wall has been investigated, and with the aim of reproducing historical buildings structural elements, three different typologies of multi-leaf masonry walls have been considered: (i) full infill, (ii) damaged infill, (iii) consolidated infill. A comparative analysis has been performed and results of experimental tests have been compared with numerical ones obtained by means of Finite Element (FE) models.

Moderate to strong earthquakes can cause considerable damage to masonry walls which are primary structural elements for decades. In previous earthquakes, a large number of masonry walls failed due to insufficient shear strength with excessive in-plane deformation, or due to insufficient out-of- plane bending capacity of the walls in the perpendicular direction. Typically, out-of- plane failure is far more prevalent and happens earlier than in-plane failure in most past earthquakes. Thus their arises the need to strengthen this masonry walls. Generally, the compressive forces that masonry walls bear vary at different storey’s vary , therefore, walls at lower storey’s can only be applied with relatively smaller prestress due to already higher compression stresses produced by self-weight and floor dead load. Many strengthening methodsSuch as using NSM-CFRP, post tensioning, shortcreting etc. are excellent methods of strengthening masonry walls. In this the performance of post tensioned and reinforced masonry walls is analyzed. Ungrouted, partially grouted, and fully grouted Post Tensioned [PT] Masonry Walls exhibit different behavior and failure mechanisms. For this an analytical model based on an experimental study is prepared and their results are compared with ABAQUS.

In this article, we will attempt to analyse certain aspects of Pindar’s style through the study of a few figures of speech that were used by the poet in the Pythian Odes. We will also strive to understand the way by which those structural elements, mostly tied to sound, interact with the remaining aspects and content of those poems. During that analysis, it will become clear that, when studying a poet of great genius such as Pindar, one must read the text and see it through its own rules and, conversely, not by those commonly applied to similar types of poetry.
