Many studies have been done previously on temperature distribution in inhomogeneous composite systems with perfect interface, having no discontinuities along it. In this paper we have determined steady state temperature distribution in two inhomogeneous composite systems with imperfect interface, having discontinuities in temperature and heat flux using decomposed immersed interface method and performed the numerical simulation on MATLAB.

A numerical model of cathode erosion in EDM process using finite element method is presented. Using this model, numerical simulation of the single spark of EDM process has been carried out with parameters such as conduction, convection, the latent heat of phase change, thermal properties of material with temperature and gauss distribution of heat flux to predict the temperature distribution in the discharge point of cathode as a result of single discharges in EDM process. The simulation result shows the trend of dynamic temperature distribution of heat -affected zone and well explains mechanism of material removal in EDM process.

The velocity distribution coupled thermal and fluid flow a rib-tube was studied in this article. Based on theory analysis and numerical simulation, we choose modal and wall function to simulate the flow in rib-tube, velocity to definite the dispersed phase. The governing equations were built and solved by numerical way. The progress of flow and heat exchange in rib-tube, the rules and contours of temperature, velocity were obtained, they shows that, along the rib-tube, velocity was changed with the temperature rising , which could give us a reference for engineering application .

A flow sensor for liquids, based on the principle of fluid-structure heat transfer is presented. The heater and thermistor are integrated and wrapped together as a detector and heat source, allowing heat exchange between the sensor and the fluid. Through numerical simulation, the temperature distribution of the sensor was investigated, under conditions of various flow velocities. The process of turbulent heat transfer in the flow pipe was simulated, the temperature distribution in the sensor was analyzed and compared under different temperature and velocity of the fluid, and the corresponding measuring ranges were determined. The flow detection circuit is designed and the results of water flow velocity tests in the range of (0.01–1)m/s are presented.

High geothermal hazard is a basic problem that must be solved in deep mining; thereby the research on thermal insulation supporting for high temperature control of deep roadway is increasing. However, the quantitative analysis of its thermal insulation effect is yet to be carried out. By building the physical model and control equations of the thermal insulation supporting roadway and considering heat-humidity transfer at wall, the temperature field distribution of surrounding rock and airflow is numerically calculated. Based on numerical simulation results, the evolution law of temperature with ventilation time is analyzed at airflow inlet, outlet, and different sections, then the variation law of surface heat transfer coefficient with position and time is obtained. For heat insulation support structure, the results show that it is not obvious to change the distribution law of temperature field, but it is effective to weaken the convection heat transfer between surrounding rock and airflow. In the main airflow area, the rate of heat exchange gradually decreases with the heat exchange becoming more and more sufficient; in boundary layer, the airflow temperature quickly transits from the wall temperature to that of the main airflow area because of intense collisions of airflow masses, so the mechanism of temperature change is different. The surface heat transfer coefficient well reflected the unstable heat-humidity transfer, especially in the beginning of ventilation or at airflow inlet. Therefore, the heat insulation supporting structure is helpful to the auxiliary cooling of high temperature mine.
