The purpose of the study were: (1) to develop a reliable and valid scale and model for sensory experience, (2) to empirically test the model using Roberts’ (2004) lovemarks theory by examining the effect of the two brand image dimensions on the lovemark experience (brand love and brand respect) and, (3) to examine the relationship among brand loyalty, brand trust and overall brand equity. The empirical results show that the model is found to be fit and the hypotheses are significant and the variables have a strong correlation with one another.

Purposes of this research are: (i) to find out the influence of brand image toward customer satisfaction (ii) to find out the influence of customer satisfaction toward brand loyalty (iii) to find out the influence of brand image toward brand loyalty and (iv) to find out the role of customer satisfaction as a mediating variable between brand image and brand loyalty. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was developed to answer the research problems. The number of respondent was 150 which was collected through offline and online self-administered questionnaire. There were 13 indicators used to measure each construct. The results show that (i) brand image positively and significanly influence customer satisfaction, (ii) customer satisfaction positively and significantly influenced brand loyalty, (iii) brand image did not influence brand loyalty, and (iv) customer satisfaction did not mediate the relationship between brand image toward brand loyalty. PurposeDue to the internationalization that has occurred during the past few decades, the living conditions of people around the island of Taiwan have gradually changed, especially their eating habits. Among them, the growth of the coffee market has been very significant. To date, many studies have been devoted to exploring the application of experiential marketing (EM) in a variety of industries. Many experimental results have proven that a positive brand image (BI) will lead to brand loyalty (BL). In services, the best at the practice of EM is Starbucks. Therefore, this paper aims to assess the role of BI in EM and BL for Taiwan’s most popular brand, Starbucks.Design/methodology/approachIn the formal test stage, 225 questionnaires were given to respondents in Starbucks located in four districts (Da-An, Zhong-Zheng, Nei-Hu and Xi-Yin), which have many more stores than the other districts in Taipei City. Two hundred valid samples were obtained. This study used structural equation modelling (SEM) to validate the relationships among EM, BI and BL.FindingsThe findings show that EM cannot directly impact BL as expected, as it needs BI to do so. In other words, BI acts a complete mediator in the relationship between EM and BL.Practical implicationsIn this study, BI acts a complete mediator. This means that if Starbucks expects to improve consumers’ loyalty to the brand, it only needs to rely on the good overall image of the brand. Facing such business style homogeneity, people need some available information to help them to execute their following purchase decisions. Though Starbucks can bring me to its locations, meaning that Starbucks has made its first move in comparison with other competitors, I still decide to leave without any impressive image of this brand. Accordingly, we can refer to BI as a powerful endorsement of a qualified relationship between EM and BL.Originality/valueCompared to past studies on Taiwan’s/Taipei’s Starbucks, this paper simultaneously inputs EM, BI and BL into the model. Though Starbucks has achieved great EM success, this study finds that EM is no longer exclusive to BL, and BI is a powerful endorsement of a qualified relationship between EM and BL. For Starbucks, it must strengthen consumer perceptions of its BI to create customer loyalty.

The most important determinants of brand equity are brand image and brand loyalty. These critical elements affect the customer’s thought processes and build up their perception of the brand. The main objective of this research study is to investigate the critical association between brand association, brand image and loyalty and how they impact brand equity. In order to achieve research intentions, a model reflecting the effect of brand association, brand image and brand loyalty on brand equity was conceptualized. Hypotheses were formulated to assess the relationship between the variables and their impact on the dependent variable. The study adopted a quantitative approach and data were analyzed through structural equation model SEM to assess the correlation. The study findings demonstrate that brand associations, brand loyalty and brand image have a positive effect on brand equity. The study provides brand managers with key insights to enrich the equity of their brands.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the formation of green brand image through customers’ perceptions of the functional and emotional benefits associated with green brands and the influence of green brand image on purchase behavioural response. Additionally, the influence of a moderating variable (green perceived risk) on this formation process is examined. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected using an online survey administered to a consumer panel in China. Structural equation modelling was used to test the conceptual model. Findings The results demonstrate that the provision of utilitarian benefits and self-expressive benefits directly enhance the brand’s green image. Also, utilitarian benefits and green brand image have direct influences on green brand loyalty. Green perceived risk negatively moderates the relationship between utilitarian benefits and green brand image. Research limitations/implications This study extends previous research by examining the development of green brand image and investigating the moderating role of green perceived risk in this process. Also, this study enriches research on green brand and corporate branding by investigating the relationship between green brand image and brand loyalty. Originality/value Although previous research has examined how perceived benefits influence the development of corporate brand image, the issue has not been investigated from a green branding perspective. Moreover, the moderating role of green perceived risk in the formation of green brand image has not been explored, despite the concerns relating to greenwash which have been raised in several green brand studies. Finally, green brand image was found to be a strong antecedent of brand loyalty, besides the predominant elements of green trust and green satisfaction.
