Emotions are now considered critical elements of a successful education. In English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context, there are many challenges for teachers to deal with. Hence, it is necessary to take their emotions into consideration. Despite many studies in this area, researching teachers’ positive mood, hope, and academic buoyancy has been left less attended. Trying to introduce this line, the present study reviewed the definitions, related concepts, theories, and previous studies done on these three variables in detail. It also touched upon the origins of researching emotion in educational contexts describing different schools of psychology. Additionally, the study offered some practical implications for EFL teachers, students, policy-makers, teacher trainers, and researchers. Finally, it enumerated the existing gaps in this area and made a number of research suggestions for future research.

The sense of community can be understood as a sense of belonging to a collectivity, making citizens develop trust and awareness for collective action projects. This study aims to identify the livability dimensions and their relationship with the sense of community. The survey method was applied, and a sample of 392 residents of a Brazilian region was interviewed. The results show that three dimensions – (i) trust and safety; (ii) work and bridging relations; and (iii) housing and city performance - explain livability. Among these dimensions, Trust and Safety, and Housing and city performance have a significant relation to the sense of community, explaining 32.4% of the sense of community. These results point out elements for the elaboration of plans and public policies in the cities and as critical elements for future research.

Beach volleyball is spectacular with many rapid actions, agility moves, and high jumping. One of the key elements present in high-performance beach volleyball, having a decisive role in the defensive apparatus, is the blocking movements. This action is done mainly by the tallest player or with the most considerable jumping ability. A high blocking ability can facilitate the defensive movement of the player that is positioned in the back of the court. Blocking ability is facilitated by anticipation capacity, good sight, agility movement, and high jumping ability generated by solid legs. This paper analyses the fundamentals of blocking actions in beach volleyball, giving critical elements in executing a good and efficient block.

Introduction Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin disease with a chronic-relapsing course. It is estimated that the prevalence in Italy is 3%. An adequate model of taking care of the patient with psoriasis allows the patient to benefit from the most suitable treatment option for his health needs. In this position statement the observations, criticalities and proposals for improvement of the Pso-Path Working Group, composed by health economists, clinicians and patients, on the diagnostic-therapeutic pathway of the patient with psoriasis have been collected. In particular, the deviation of clinical practice from the current Guidelines for the management of patients with psoriasis, which recommend the use of biologic drugs in case of non-response, intolerance or contraindication to Methotrexate or Cyclosporine, was evaluated. Method A Working Group was convened whose participants were asked to express their thoughts on the diagnostic and therapeutic pathway of the patient with psoriasis, bringing out critical elements and proposals for improvement, based on their experiences. Conclusion This position statement summarizes the experiences and consensus between clinicians and patients on actions to optimize the management of patients with psoriasis undergoing biological treatment. Compared to the epidemiological data currently available, it is believed that only a small percentage of patients with psoriasis are treated with systemic drugs. The perception of clinicians, according to their experience, confirms the data emerging from the National Report "National Observatory on the Use of Medicines" (Osmed) compiled by AIFA in 2015, according to which more than 77% of patients with psoriasis are started to treatment with biological drugs without a previous use of Methotrexate or Cyclosporine for at least 3 months. The Pso-Path Working Group came to the conclusion that it would be desirable to incentivize, through the formalization of regional guidelines, the creation of a network system that promotes not only a greater awareness, at the territorial level, of the importance and impact of the disease and the possible paths, but also the collaboration and connection between all the actors involved in the overall care of the patient.

Maintaining a high level of maintenance of electrical equipment in passenger cars requires research in the field of improving methods and means of technical diagnostics. Electronic devices for automatic control and protection, which are located in the switchboard of the car, are one of the most critical elements in the electrical equipment system, ensuring its reliable, efficient and safe operation. If the automatic adjustment and protection devices are out of regulation during operation, the voltage and current in the electrical equipment network may exceed the permissible level, which leads to the failure of electricity consumers, a battery and a generator. In addition, the semiconductor devices themselves are very sensitive to short-term overloads, in which, even with minor overloads, a breakdown or breakage of the conductive layer occurs. Modern trends in the development of passenger car fleet indicate a sharp increase in the complexity of the element base of cars. This mainly concerns the electrical systems of cars, where all the functions of control, monitoring and diagnostics are performed by electronics. Maintaining a high level of service for such systems requires research in the field of improving methods and means of technical diagnostics. For these purposes, the authors have developed a method for constructing optimal control and diagnostic tests, which is based on a combinatorial approach. The method is easily implemented on a computer.

PurposeThe present study aims to identify the most critical elements of resilience in the management of supply chains of Brazilian companies and, in the sequence, debate possible digital technologies mentioned by literature to enhance them.Design/methodology/approachTo identify the most critical elements, the information provided by qualified academics was used. Data analysis was performed through Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, hierarchical cluster analysis and Fuzzy TOPSIS approach.FindingsComparatively, the results pointed out three elements of resilience as the most critical in managing supply chains. They are the decision-making (understood as the definitions from the layout of the chain’s operations network to the choice of warehouse locations, distribution centres and manufacturing facilities), human resources (understood as management for human resources development and knowledge management through training) and security (understood as issues related to information technology for data security). For each of them, bibliographic research was performed to identify technologies that enhance these elements of supply chain management resilience.Originality/valueThe results presented here can significantly contribute to the expansion of debates associated with resilience in managing supply chains of Brazilian companies and directing researchers in the area.

While disparities in educational outcomes for Aboriginal children have narrowed in early childhood education and for Year 12 completions, these positive trends are not replicated in the intervening years where attendance, reading, writing, and numeracy targets have been missed. Erratic attendance in the primary years has the greatest impact on achievement; literacy and numeracy scores decline as absences increase. Family functioning and health, caregiver expectations, past encounters with the education system and socio-economic disadvantage are all implicated in poorer rates of attendance. In response to community concerns, an Aboriginal/mainstream partnership was forged in 2011 and began work in 2016 to address patterns of attendance and achievement among Aboriginal primary students in a regional city in Western Australia. This paper describes the innovative, community-led “More Than Talk” program and presents findings from teaching and support staff interviews two years after implementation. Qualitative methods were employed to analyse the data, develop themes, and ensure rigour. Findings highlighted the cascading impact of erratic attendance and the role of strong relationships, respect, and investment of time with children as critical elements in student engagement and wellbeing. Community-led, collaborative educational programs have the potential to positively impact Aboriginal students’ engagement and contribute to culturally responsive environments. If sustained, such efforts can enable learning to flourish.

Abstract: Today, antibacterial drug resistance has turned into a significant public health issue. Repeated intake, suboptimal and/or unnecessary use of antibiotics, and, additionally, the transfer of resistance genes are the critical elements that make microorganisms resistant to conventional antibiotics. A substantial number of antibacterials that were successfully utilized earlier for prophylaxis and therapeutic purposes have been rendered inadequate due to this phenomenon. Therefore, the exploration of new molecules has become a continuous endeavour. Many such molecules are at various stages of investigation. A surprisingly high number of new molecules are currently in the stage of phase 3 clinical trials. A few new agents have been commercialized in the last decade. These include solithromycin, plazomicin, lefamulin, omadacycline, eravacycline, delafloxacin, zabofloxacin, finafloxacin, nemonoxacin, gepotidacin, zoliflodacin, cefiderocol, BAL30072, avycaz, zerbaxa, vabomere, relebactam, tedizolid, cadazolid, sutezolid, triclosan and afabiacin. This article aims to review the investigational and recently approved antibacterials with a focus on their structure, mechanisms of action/resistance, and spectrum of activity. Delving deep, their success or otherwise in various phases of clinical trials is also discussed while attributing the same to various causal factors.
