Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemahaman konsep IPA mahasiswa calon guru SD berdasarkan motivasi belajar, keterampilan proses sains, kemampuan multirepresentasi, jenis kelamin, dan latar belakang sekolah. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester III TA 2016/2017. Analisis pemahaman konsep menggunakan metode CRI. Hasil menunjukkan: 1)  Pemahaman konsep IPA dengan kriteria paham konsep sebesar 82,64%, tidak paham konsep sebesar 4,86%, dan miskonsepsi sebesar 12,50%; 2) Pemahaman konsep calon guru SD berdasarkan motivasi belajar kategori tinggi lebih baik daripada yang kategori rendah; 3) Pemahaman konsep calon guru SD  berdasarkan keterampilan proses sains kategori tinggi lebih baik daripada yang kategori rendah; 4) Pemahaman konsep calon guru SD  berdasarkan kemampuan multirepresentasi kategori tinggi lebih baik daripada yang kategori rendah; 5) Pemahaman konsep calon guru SD  perempuan lebih baik daripada laki-laki; 6) Pemahaman konsep calon guru SD yang berasal dari SMA (IPA) lebih baik daripada yang berasal dari SMA (IPS) dan SMK.Kata kunci:  Pemahaman Konsep IPA, Motivasi, Kemampuan Multirepresentasi ANALYZING THE UNDERSTANDING OF SCIENCE CONCEPT BASED ON LEARNING MOTIVATION, SCIENCE PROCESS SKILLS, MULTIREPRESENTATION ABILITY, GENDER, AND BACKGROUND OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER EDUCATION STUDENTAbstract This research aims to analyze the students understanding as elementary school teacher candidates about science knowledge concept based on motivation to learn, science process skills, multi-representation ability, gender, and their school background. A program to train Elementary School teacher in developing science learning media has been conducted in Dapena Elementary School and St Theresia II Catholic Elementary School, Surabaya. The training aims to improve teachers’ skills on making science learning media and teachers’ understanding on science concepts. In this training, teachers have made science learning media on the themes of air, electricity, and energy. According to pre- and post-test result analysis, teachers gain knowledge on scientific approach learning and science concept related to air, electricity, and energy themes. The calculated gain of average can be categorized as medium gain. In addition, according to the evaluation by participants, the program has been conducted very well.

This research is motivated by the low ability to understand mathematical concepts possessed by prospective elementary school teacher students. This study aims to see the achievement and improvement of students' mathematical understanding abilities that use Microsoft Excel-based VBA teaching materials with those using conventional learning. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group design. This study's population were all second-semester elementary school teacher candidates in one private university in West Java, Indonesia. The sample in this study was 70 prospective 2nd-grade elementary school teacher candidates. The instrument used in this study was a test of understanding mathematical concepts. The results showed: 1) learning using VBA Microsoft Excel as a teaching material was able to improve students' ability to understand mathematical concepts; 2) learning using Microsoft Excel VBA as teaching material is better than conventional learning; and 3) students can be enthusiastic, active and motivated in learning mathematics with VBA Microsoft Excel.

Prospective Elementary School Teachers have difficulty in understanding the science concepts. Beside, they are generally low in curiosity, passive in discussion, and lack of collaboration on microteaching activities. This study aims to: (1) Reveal how to apply the experimental-based LSQ learning model on microteaching activities for elementary school teacher candidates; (2) Examine the increase in curiosity and understanding the concept of science. The method used is a Quasi-experiment method with purposive sampling technique. The sample are 31 elementary school teacher candidates from Universitas Sains Al Quran, Wonosobo, Indonesia. The data about understanding the concept was collected through a test with 30 questions. The data about curiosity was collected by questionnaires and observation sheets. The results showed that there is an increase in the understanding of the concept based on the gain test of 0.3. Furthermore, based on the t-test of 4.01 and t-table of 1.99 (tcount t-table = 4.01 1.99), LSQ model is effective in increasing the curiosity. Curiosity through the four main skills found, namely: questioning skills, reinforcement, explanation skills, and classroom management. The average result of the competency percentage on LSQ learning is 72% (medium category). LSQ is strongly recommended to be applied by prospective elementary school teachers.
