The intermolecular free-length of 1-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium chloride [bdmim]Cl in pure water as well as in tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide (TBAB) + water at different concentrations of solute and at T = (298.15 to 313.15) K have been evaluated by making use of ultrasonic and thermoacoustical parameters followed by a comparative study. To accomplish this objective, thermoacoustical parameters for the above said solutions have been calculated. These parameters have been used to determine intermolecular free-length (Lf) for the solutions under study. The values of Lf obtained by thermoacoustical approach were tallied with the values obtained by well-known ultrasonic method (Schaaffs method). To the best of our understanding, this study is an innovative attempt in the determination of inter-molecular free-length present in the investigated solutions by making use of ultrasonic approach.

In this study, saturated solutions of Sr(OH)2 in pure water and in mixed solvent systems (methanol - water, ethanol - water, 1-propanol - water, and 2-propanol - water) at two temperatures were prepared and titrated with standard HCl solution by using pH metry. Using these titration data, the molar solubility (s), solubilty product (Ksp) and Gibbs free energy (Go), entropy change (ΔSand#176;) and enthalpy change (ΔHand#176;) for dissolution of strontium hydroxide was determined. At room temperature (20and#176;C), the s, Ksp, ∆Go were found to be 4.28 x 10-2 mol L-1, 3.13 x 10-4 mol3L-3 and 19.70 kJ mol-1 respectively. The ΔHand#176; and ΔSand#176; of the reaction is 2.90 kJ mol-1 and – 60.80 J. mol-1 K-1. With increasing percentage content of organic solvent in mixed solvents, the molar solubility and Ksp decreased and ∆Go, ΔHand#176; and ΔSand#176; values increased. The results were correlated with the dielectric constant value of the solvents used in the study.

: Quantitative determination of pyridostigmine bromide in the presence of its two related substances; impurity A and impurity B was considered as a case study to construct the comparison. Introduction: Novel manipulations of the well-known classical least squares multivariate calibration model were explained in detail as a comparative analytical study in this research work. In addition to the application of plain classical least squares model, two preprocessing steps were tried, where prior to modeling with classical least squares, first derivatization and orthogonal projection to latent structures were applied to produce two novel manipulations of the classical least square-based model. Moreover, spectral residual augmented classical least squares model is included in the present comparative study. Methods: 3 factor 4 level design was implemented constructing a training set of 16 mixtures with different concentrations of the studied components. To investigate the predictive ability of the studied models; a test set consisting of 9 mixtures was constructed. Results: The key performance indicator of this comparative study was the root mean square error of prediction for the independent test set mixtures, where it was found 1.367 when classical least squares applied with no preprocessing method, 1.352 when first derivative data was implemented, 0.2100 when orthogonal projection to latent structures preprocessing method was applied and 0.2747 when spectral residual augmented classical least squares was performed. Conclusion: Coupling of classical least squares model with orthogonal projection to latent structures preprocessing method produced significant improvement of the predictive ability of it.
