Intermodal transportation is a research topic of great interest at present. This paper presents a route choice analysis on an intermodal freight transportation network. The aim of this study was to determine the optimum route and mode of transportation based on least distance and least time criteria for the movement of containers from origin to the destination. Geographic Information System (GIS) was adopted to build the hypothetical freight transportation network and MATLAB software was used to model the travel distance and travel time. The results showed that the model can be used effectively to identify the shortest path and modes of transportation according to objective functions.

It was realized long ago that one of the main factors for steady groowing economic of the country is a properly working transport system in which new enough means of cargo transportation, so called intermodal transportation takes not the last place. First of all it raises problems related with the development and optimization of proper infrastructure - the network of roads and terminals which aim to carry out intermodal transportation. The article deals with one of possible ways of modelling the national intermodal freight transportation network. The basis for such model is the investigation of freight traffic during which we identifY the routes for intermodal freight transportation (as well as places where such freight is shifted from one mode of transport to another), extend the existing statistic date base on modal transport carriages and start to develop a new data base on intermodal freight carriages. With the help of the last one we can go further in modelling national intermodal freight transportation network and determine the steps for creating such network. The main steps should include: - the integration of the particular modal networks into a general intermodal network; - the optimization of the network defining optimal routes between possible origin and destination points; - the estimation of terminal operations to get a more detailed and optimal view of the national intermodal cargo transportation network.

This study analyses how port governance systems in Europe have influenced the implementation of port initiatives focused on promoting modal shifts in freight transportation. Through a comprehensive review of port strategies, this research identified 49 individual modal shift initiatives among 21 port authorities in Europe. The results show that ports located in the Northern regions and managed by local governments, particularly in Belgium and the Netherlands, are leaders in executing strategies for modal shifts in freight transportation. Technological solutions and promoting intermodal transportation were found to be the most popular initiatives used to promote hinterland movements of freight by rail and waterborne transportation.

Goods movement using container are quite efficiently assessed because it can carry a great amount of goods fit to container capacity. Freight transportations is a primary component of all supply-chain and logistics systems, but in contrary using a truck as its transportation means causing many problems such as air and noise pollutions, traffic congestions, road accidents and road damage.  Depart from this facts, so government is looking for another means of freight transporter which more efficient with a bigger load capacity advantages. This options goes to train as a solutions of intermodal freight transportations lack. In order to supporting intermodal freight transportations, right now double track of railway is available for Jakarta – Surabaya route (Northern line route).  By now, noted that freight transportation with double track railway frequency is potentially increase to 15 trip per days with capacity 500 TEU (Twenty feet Equivalent Units) per days and fuel consumptions (with truck) can be thrifted into 115 kl per days also reducing carbon monoxide emission amounts 350 tons per days.  According with an official statements from Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportations, explained that Jakarta – Bojonegoro route on double track railway is fully operated so this paper is conducted to determining feasibility of railway structure performance due to freight intermodal transportations at Bojonegoro – Kalitidu route. Railway structure performance feasibility is observed from loading distributions, rail strength, rail sleeper strength, and railway subgrade endurance to planned freight trains.  As a result of this research obtained that tension force that occurred on rail is 830,10 kg/cm2 <  permitted tension on rail (first class rail) 1325 kg/cm2. So, tension force that occurred on rail is safe. Moment force that occurred on rail bottom is 14521,25 kg.cm < permitted moment force (150.000 kg.cm) Moment force that occurred in the middle of rail sleeper is 58993,978 kg.cm < permitted moment force (93000 kg.cm). Tension force that occurred on above railway subgrade (σ2) is 4,17 kg/cm2 < qu (29,671 kg/cm2). It means that railway subgrade is capable to supporting load of freight transportation operations along Bojonegoro – Kalitidu route.

The aim of this work is to show the socio-economic impact in the Cundinamarca-Boyacá plateau produced by the construction and promotion of an alternative to relieve the freight transportation system in the region, and how it echoes in the manufacturing levels of the ship industry. For this reason, it is evaluated the option of establishing a logistics area in the town of Puerto Salgar (Cundinamarca) where may confluence an intermodal transportation system which emphasizes the Magdalena River as the main way for the country’s development and Puerto Salgar as the main axis for the economic growth of the plateau. The Discrete Event Simulation (DES) methodology was used for this work, using information given by previous studies by the Ministerio de Transporte, the Dirección Nacional de Planeación and the Instituto Nacional de Vías; setting a conceptual model which determines and limit the study, and implementing a Rockwell Arena simulation.

Traditionally, the relationship between the company and its providers have for objective to generate value at the company side in exchange of money. This relationship is largely investigated through the vector of value chain. In this article, security and privacy cocreation (SPCC) is investigated as a specialization of value cocreation. Although it is an important research topic, and despite a plethora of research aiming at depicting the fundamental of SPCC, few contributions have been appeared until now in the area of a language to support SPCC design and deployment. However, such a language is necessary to describe elements of the information system, as well as their underlying dependencies. As a result, this article proposes extending an existing enterprise architecture language to support the process of decision-making and to allow understanding and analysis of the impacts associated to a change of the system architecture as a whole.
